I remember discovering this song in the early days of the quarantine and just immediately falling in love with it. I was very broke, single and quarantined alone in the apartment for many months. This song constantly reminded me that I didn't need anyone else to know I had a good thing already. And then years later, this year, watching Kehlani live singing this song just brought me to tears. I was in a much different place and so much more financially stable. I hope the people who listen to this song know they will always have a good thing with them.

I feel like this song is about how we already have good things in our life and that it isn’t selfish or cold to not want a boyfriend currently. If we’re already happy with ourselves, if we already have successes, family and friends, there isn’t really a point in needing a significant other, because having a significant other isn’t actually necessary for a happy life. Maybe in the future we will find someone, but for the time being, it’s perfectly okay to focus on ourselves.
