Hello, how do you sketch the graph of this solution- I mean what would it look like. Obvs the minimum point would be on -1/4; but, would there be any intersections?

I know this is super late but I'll reply nevertheless. so to determine whether the two functions intersect we have to make them equal to each other so y=2x-1 and y=x²+1/2x+1/16 must equal each other. so 2x-1=x²+1/2x+1/16. when we collect the like terms and sort everything out we end up with x²-3/2x+17/16. to determine the amount of intersections between these two points we have to apply the discriminant to the resultant quadratic equation x²-3/2x+17/16. so when we apply the discriminant b²-4ac we see that it is less than 0. (-3/2)²-4(1*17/16)=-2. the discriminant is equal to -2 and since it's less than 0 we know that these point's don't intersect at all! i hope that's cleared that for you and for anyone else asking the same question
