Zeis Ikon Nettar II Review - a cheap way to get into Medium Format film photography

I've been recently asked what's a cheap way to get into Medium Format film photography. In this video I give one of the cheapest options you can buy and show examples and give my thoughts with the camera I review.
I've noticed on the video I failed to mention the camera has a viewfinder below the hotshoe and this viewfinder is to give a rough framing with the camera. The viewfinder isn't great but it does it's job.
All video shot in 1080HD and edited using Cyberlink PowerDirector 15.
This video was recorded on my Panasonic G9 and Leica 12-60mm f/2.8-4 lens.

No problem, I'm very impressed with the quality of the negatives. The one negative is the viewfinder isn't really great but it does give a general impression of what's in the frame. I've since downloaded a phone app called Magic Film Viewer which I find easier for framing.

I bought a Kodak Vigilant, can't remember the price. Wow! Does it take beautiful photos! The only drawback is the 620 film. But I blacked out my bathroom and respooling doesn't suck to bad. It made fall in love with folding bellows cameras and now I own 5. Lol

Thanks for the video. I just picked up one these cameras on ebay. I haven't used it yet. Everything is closed because of COVID-19 stuff. How does one wind the film back onto the feeding spool? Or do you forward the film all the way on to the take up spool. Then swap spools when you load a new roll.. Thanks

You just keep winding once you go past the last number, it'll fully wind into the takeup spool. Very easy to do 👍

Hi...I have a zeiss ikon nettar 515/16 (6x6), and struggle with the viewfinder; mainly because of the challenging position to view through. How does Magic Film Viewer aide in this process? please reply

The rangefinder merely tells you what distance your subject is. The image is split until it finally comes into focus.

What do you think about a new 6x6cm Holga instead of an old 6x6m Zeiss Ikon?

The Zeist Ikon will make much better negatives even though its much older. The Holga is a fun plastic camera which gives lots of imperfections and a unique look and is fun to use.

I’m bored with my holga after one roll. It’s fun, if you like that sort of hipster thing, but I prefer to be in control of my imperfections.

I think when I bought mine I did a search on eBay for a show mount rangefinder attachment.
