Zeiss 24-70mm F/4 Vario-Tessar | Sony Lens Disassembly and Repair (can I fix it?)

It's a sad day when a lens dies. My 24-70mm F/4 Zeiss has been a workhorse lens ever since I switched to DSLR to Sony full frame mirrorless cameras back in 2015, this was the first lens I bought to fit the new mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera system. Life changed forever.
Sadly, this lens has a common autofocusing problem that requires fixing as it has been unusable for years now. On a rainy day last week, I decided to try and fix this lens. As it turns out, there was more going on than met the eye. This a near 100% tear down of the Zeiss 24-70mm F/4 Vario-Tessar T* OSS lens for full frame Sony mirrorless cameras.
