Quake ( Enhanced ) - [ PC ] - Intro & Gameplay

Down the memory lane a bit. This is,
Quake
I wanna say that the first time I saw and played Quake was at Dreamhack 96' or something like that. I don't entirely remember but I remember that it's drab look brought fear to my heart and it's hyper violent nature frightened me. Games in the 90's just hit differently in a 4:9 screen.
Then playing it in school when I was 13 against my peers, I was still a pure keyboard player at the time but I managed to get competitively good by using PG UP and PG DOWN, Arrow Keys + WASD, SPACE and CTRL. Inevitably, the switch came to Mouse control. But I must admit that sometimes... I still let my hands slide across the keyboard in reminiscent of the Keyboard days, with a sly smile on my lips..
Anyway, Quake 1 was never my jam really. Though I've played it on and off a lot over the years, I can never muster anything more than just "Yeah, it's alright."

Ah you were what they call "a tank/tractor driver" too :). I didn't like the drab palette of quake either. After Doom, Heretic, Hexen and the 2.5D "Blakestone" (altho it wasn't really called that, just a tower-assault sorta game with multiple colorful aliens) it was just ... ugh - too ugly. Also quite uncanny with Shamblers and so on. I prefferred the voxel "Ziggurat" (again unsure what's the real title, it was a Ukrainian homebrew shooter, afaik, with huge "Satans" spawning outta lakes of lava and other impressive enemies)

I really don't care for the new models of the remaster. In fact, I don't care for the remaster period.

I think so of most remasters. This one... Eh, it's just Quake to me. I was never big on Quake 1 in the first place, Quake 2 & 4 was my jam. Quake 64 is a nice version though. Totally unnecessary bs of Bethesda though to enforce their "Log in to Bethesda network".
