God I remember the Valley of the Flood rumours. I think "wanted to believe" is a good way to put it, because it just sounded so cool. And it's so rare that Nintendo fills gaps in the Zelda timeline like that, so a lot of us were just really hoping that it would break the trend
@eileensmiller8041 Жыл бұрын
I vaguely remember hearing about Valley of the Flood back in middle school, I never believed it because they had a Wind Waker sequel in Phantom Hourglass. Though it's funny how some of the ways Link would have been able to travel in this 'new Zelda ' did eventually make it into the series with 2009's Spirit Tracks and of course 2011's Skyward Sword. I guess they do sometimes listen to rumors as well as fans for their next big ideas

Valley of the Deluge is still probably my favorite fake gaming leak from back in the day, rivalling even Nintendo On. Dude I remember those leakes about Valley of the Flood/Deluge. It was dark enough to be believable as a Zelda game but too edgy to actually be real Bur honestly the concept would work great in today's open world Zelda formula and Wind Waker shows not all heroes are Link reborn so it's be cool if by the end of the game when the world ifls flooding, the goddesses reveal him to be a true hero or something like that :V
@Nintokis Жыл бұрын
@@SeekerNami It was definitely pretty edgy, but I think that's why I liked it so much. Like the idea that you're some guy who's fooled himself into thinking he's the hero just sounds like a really neat hook for a game. Plus the overworld flooding as you "fail" each dungeon just sounded like a really interesting way to keep the exploration fresh, though having a game where the hero ultimately fails definitely feels like a hard sell.
@SeekerNami Жыл бұрын
@@Nintokis True, knowing Nintendo, even if there's a huge audience willing to see the protagonist fail (it's not a new concept in games after all and I bet quite a few would like to see Link lose), they'd never do it. I mean, they had a game where the hero and the champions lose at the very start of the story, they MADE a prequel of sorts and still had the day saved by contrived devices instead of you know, giving us an epic and sad end to the story. I loved the edginess too. The same reason you liked it are why I got hooked to the idea. And like in the end Nintendo would find an equally contrived way of getting that delusional guy into saving the day at some point if they wanted :v

Not simply dead, he left the timeline all together so he couldn't reincarnate

In regards to the Zelda Mobile game, I can almost certainly say that a "Pokemon GO-styled Shrine Hunting Game" is NOT what would have been made. My reason? The company behind it. Nintendo were working with DeNA, NOT Niantic. Pokemon GO and the often forgotten Pikmin Bloom were done by Niantic, so Nintendo wouldn't just throw all of that data away. Considering MKT, FEH, and ACPC were done under the DeNA partnership, the Zelda Mobile Game more than likely would have followed a similar structure. As for the gameplay, who knows, but gacha like FEH or PMEX doesn't sound like the way they'd go.

I think the one who made up Valley of the Flood based it on the rumors and speculation from way back during Twilight Princess initial reveal. Since there was basically no official information regarding the timeline at all, many people thought the new Zelda game would have to be a Wind Waker prequel and would therefore have to end with Link failing and being forgotten. Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention any old magazine scans of an SNES Adventure of Link remake (which I know existed as magazine scans), much less brought up the Gigaleak of a platform-game Link, or that one Adventure of Link song in some of the SNES test carts. I think the Zelda Mobile game would've just simply been a kind of puzzle game, maybe with simple dungeon exploration, perhaps even with randomly generated layouts. But some kind of puzzle focused/based gameplay makes the most sense to me. I get the feeling it would've also used a Toon Link rather than BotW Link, especially if it was 3d- the simpler design and lower poly-count it would require would run better on a wider range of mobile phones than a more detailed one I imagine. Toon Link would've probably also been chosen to appeal to younger audiences or their parents, since it is a very cute and child-friendly design, while BotW Link could've been seen as maybe being more "Teen friendly" to parents unfamiliar with the series. I don't REALLY know much at all about marketing or game development though, for all I know they would've stuck with the BotW design for synergy or something. In the end though it REALLY is purely speculation, of course, lmao.

I remember there being a lot of discussion about the Valley of the Deluge rumor, but I never saw anyone point out the obvious reason it was fake: It makes no sense to occur at the point in the timeline that it was stated to. The interview made it clear that Hyrule was going to be flooded during the events of this game, and that it would take place between OOT and WW. But the issue with that is that Hyrule isn't flooded until the end of Wind Waker. Until then, it's preserved, perfectly dry and intact using some kind of magic to keep the ocean from falling on it. For a Zelda game that supposedly was being made with story as a major component and taking place in a clearly stated part of the timeline, such a blatant contradiction wouldn't be overlooked. Yet, I don't remember anyone else bringing this up, despite many thinking that it was fake.

To be honest, the best Zelda-like game I've played on phone (which is now on the Switch) is Guardian Tales.

17:38 I don't know how possible it is. but I still think the crazy tale this troller was spinning would be an awesome game if it was done right.

A “false” Zelda game would be interesting especially with such a cookie cutter plot of totk. Definitely would change things up from the same plot they've been doing since the 80s.

I never thought I'd be nostalgic over a fake game leak but here we are. I honestly miss the hype and speculation behind Valley of the Flood. There used to be some really cool fan art for the game people made in excitement.

I don't know about the other mobile games, but to say Fire Emblem Heroes locks "core content" behind a paywall is not true.

I think the six game rumor is from Ages and Seasons mechanics, one having past and present, the other having four seasons, making 6 whole zelda games!!

I never heard of the Zelda 2 rumor. 10:48 Playing the flute on the DS sucked. 16:02 I've heard of this one. I didn't like the idea of playing as someone who wasn't Link. I do like the idea of Zelda being Steampunk and the use of guns.

Just gotta defend Fire Emblem Heroes here, as spending money in that game is ENTIRELY optional. No content or units or anything of the sort is locked behind microtransactions, except for additional costumes for select units, that make them a little bit (and i mean it) stronger. Been playing since launch without spending a cent and never had trouble clearing the PvE content or reaching the highest tier of Arena. Dunno about Nintendo's other mobile games, though.

‘People’ that spent money on that garbage game literally did it to get a closer look at their 2D waifu from a gumball machine.

Maybe the Zelda app was a real project but was canceled before it was announced?

Ocarina of time started out as a Zelda 2 remake,because myamoto wanted to make zelda 2 have bushido fighting in 3d but that was not possible on NES but it was on N64.
