In Ocarina of Time there's a much easier bottle glitch that allows you to turn any item into a bottle. 1: Have an empty bottle. 2: Select an item slot to be turned into a bottle, making sure the item isn't needed to finish the game. 3: Catch something in the bottle, opening your menu as quickly as possible before the animation ends, and switch the item from step 2 into the bottle's item slot. *Recommendation: Once the Biggoron Sword is acquired, do this glitch with the receipt, because it serves no further purpose, so you aren't losing anything.

I've been doing/watching zelda speedruns for over a decade now and this is one of the best/most researched vids about the glitches/tricks I've seen. Usually theres some innaccuracy or incompleteness I find in these types of vids, but this one feels very informative and complete. One note is that the back in time glitch (resetting the game as you void out in TP and SS) is also in wind waker. Its just not useful at all.

That meme is based on another video by pannenkoek2012 that is so complicated that this feels like ground school knowledge. Basically, to reach a star in super mario 64, Mario has to travel through several multiple "parallel universes" and the speed needed to do that takes 12 hours to build up alone. It's the "Watch for Rolling Rocks with 0,5 A presses" video and definitely worth a watch.

I remember there was a Majora's Mask glitch I exploited to get through the water temple easier. There's a number of platforms that are too tall to simply climb onto from the water. You're supposed to go through the trouble of making ice platforms in the water with the ice arrow and jump across, but you can skip that by just swimming up against the platform as human Link and then putting on the Zora mask. Since Mikau is taller than Link, his body placement is slightly elevated, just enough to be able to grab the ledge and climb up from the water despite not normally being able to. Mikau can't climb up those platforms from the water if he just swims up to them, it only works from the body placement shift when transforming from Link in the water due to height difference. Principle applies in reverse too. If you're Mikau and take off the mask while in the water to transform back to Link, the body placement is lower and as such Link is slightly dived down and he immediately breaches the surface.

+Connor Kennway In a word: science!
@pirakax128 жыл бұрын
+Connor Kennway there are mutiple ways. For OoT there are a bunch of emulotors and ways to view the values that run while the game is going on so seeing how values chance can tell a lot. A way to manipulate them can easily be found by chance. Take the TP thing Speedrunners reset a lot to get the perfect run. Now say you where falling in a bottomless pit and you where gonna die or lose a bunch of time so in reaction you reset to start over. By pur chance you see the game open up with you able to walk on the title screen. From there you know your in a glitchs state so you try what can be done. On that same glitch it well know that SS and WW work on the saem engine as TP so if it works in TP there is a pig chance there might be somethign in these other 2 games. This was teh case for WW it was useless though since it just resets you save file to balnk but for SS it does somethign similair. It comes down to simple chance and knowing the ins and outs of a game. Often a combo of both 1 single lucky break can open up a huge amount of other tricks and glitches based on it. Becasue if it works in one place it will probably work in similair places as well.
@feymouse8 жыл бұрын
i was kinda hoping for the OoT "lost master sword" glitch to be mentioned... when you're facing ganon's final form, after getting the master sword knocked out of your grasp, press start and save, then reset the system. reopen the save file and you'll be back in the temple of time, without a weapon in the B icon (but your swords will still be in inventory; don't equip them and don't go back in time or the glitch will end). the fun begins with riding epona and being able to use items such as deku nuts while riding (which will make link drop off epona, and in some areas, especially in lon lon ranch, keep the camera focused on epona as if you're controlling her). there's even some minor glitches where the viewpoint stays in first-person. try it out~

Cool video, there were a few I hadn't heard of before. One glitch not mentioned here: In A Link to the Past, if you activate the Magic Mirror on a specific frame while jumping off of a ledge inside a dungeon (I suggest the Thieves' Hideout), you will be teleported to the dungeon's entrance at the layer that you were jumping to. So, you will essentially be under the ground, able to walk around freely and move between screens without any walls in your way. Doing this can allow you to walk to any map in the game, including walking to the Light World while you're in the Dark World, causing a weird texture swap and the ability to use the Magic Mirror twice to get back to the Light World because you're in the "Double Dark World." You can also use this glitch to access the bonus Four Swords dungeon in the GBA version of the game. :)

+OK I knew about most of these glitches because I watch a lot of Zelda speedruns.

When I was 9 I discovered a glitch in the Wind Waker (GC version), You get the hookshot out and start shooting and then press L and start moving while holding the button, try this as many times until you start sliding around the map while having the hookshot camera view. If you shoot the glitch ends but you start to automatically move until you get out of first person view.

+Christopher Kendall remember to laugh at the part where he mentions 40 jabus, because it's completely wrong. There's only two spawned.

I've been playing too much Pokemon: At the 1:35 mark, I legit was screaming at the screen for him to get out of the grass before he get's into a battle.

I'm not a speed runner, I dont watch speed runners. I'm just not interested in such things and am not in that loop. But to me, using glitches and exploits to speed run a game is as about as impressive as using MCEdit to build huge structures in minecraft.

+XelNigma that's a hot opinion dude i'm sure people care about what you think of how people speedrun
@TheMuffinman1918 жыл бұрын
+XelNigma It takes a lot a of effort and time to even find these glitches, let alone use them practically, glitched speedruns are more a trial of perfect efficiency than they are a "look, i broke the game" sort of deal
@SamHuang698 жыл бұрын
+XelNigma There are such things as categories of Speedruns, one being "glitchless", so you could speedrun normally without using any glitches, but in my honest opinion, l think using glitches to play the game in a totally different way is what makes it so interesting to watch.
@hi-i-am-atan8 жыл бұрын
+TheMuffinman191 When you think about it, though, it is a pretty relevant comparison as the creator of MCEdit had to breakdown Minecraft's save system and create a UI that could make modifying the game world through it user-friendly, all while updating it for each Minecraft version. OP's still a prick unable to appreciate the efforts of others, though.

I've clocked in far more hours than I can count testing and trying to find Zelda glitches. A couple years, maybe more. Early Master Sword, Map Glitch, Bombchu Hover, and many more. I think you can safely say that this is my favorite Zelda topic.

+Victoria Dominowski Yo When crediting footage, we don't use the person's actual name, we use the name of the channel, which is currently listed as "Cosmo". We do this so that if people want to verify the footage, they can just type the channel name to the KZbin search bar and head over to that channel. This also helps properly credit out sources and drive traffic to the sources. I can assure that this was no act of ignorance or bigotry, and I do apologize if it seemed that way.
