Dude Zelda 2 is weird af and of course incredibly difficult and annoying my god, but it has a special charm you know I can't describe it, it's in the sceneries, the music, the characters and RPG elements, the artworks, the fact that there ain't dungeons, nor temples, but Palaces man... I mean... I don't know but I enjoyed that stuff.

Zelda 2 will always be my favorite zelda game period. I never played the original zelda as a kid. I owned the second one. The game is pretty linear even though it feels open-world. You get good hints from the townspeople when you need them. The controls are absolutely spectacular for this era of gaming. Music is amazing. Skill level increases evenly the whole game. I cannot understand why anyone would not love it. The only reason i can think of is that they never mastered the control of link, which is necessary to make it anywhere without a game over.
@AMRARDvermebrungruppe3 жыл бұрын
Has the best aesthetic and story in all of Zelda. The music alone is far superior to basically everything that came after, and it has a uniqueness of flavor that is only matched by Zelda IV (the Game Boy game) and the way that Wind Waker felt when it was brand new.

@@lukemehalick370 it's not that you're bad at games it's that he's using ridiculous glitches. I've heard of some speed runs where they push on the cartridge to get it to corrupt the data or something. Personally I feel like my time would be better spent playing it once or twice and then playing something else 😂 I don't have the free time to put into speed running, ironic because the whole point is to play the game quickly.
@lukemehalick3703 жыл бұрын
@@zacziggarot ya I hear ya there. I've always been a fan of no glitch runs personally, but even if you look at the execution, it's not a reaction to stimuli. It's a memorized pattern over the course of an entire game, but done perfectly. That's what I find so crazy, that it's playing "perfectly " from start to finish that is so impressive glitches or not.
@zacziggarot3 жыл бұрын
@@lukemehalick370 oh dang, I hope it's not perfectly. The funnest thing about speed runs is when they get beaten. That's kind of why I've lost interest in the ocarina of time speed runs, because the game is already broken to the point where they use a third controller and glitch into the final credits. It leaves you with the feeling of "where does it go from here?" at least in this it seems like you could shave off a couple seconds by jumping over some of the slimes instead of attacking them in the caves. I don't know though, I'm going to have to watch a speed running explained video later on in order to appreciate the finer details of the run.

I know people give games like Zelda II, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest and Super Mario Bros 2 (not Japanese smb2) s...pit for not being "more of the same" as the originals, but the thing to remember is that in the mid-80s the very concept of SEQUELS was not yet really a thing. we call that "scroll lock." you need to get to the fallback map known as "glitch town" either by fairying in the HUD in town or with healer glitch. when you get there, every time you enter a doorway it shifts Link's position farther and farther left by overflowing the memory until you get this scroll lock effect. you can look up some info on this on a website called red candle, search "healer glitch." hope that helps!

I agree with the Ninja Gaiden comment. I beat Zelda II in 3rd grade, it's not that hard. In fact, it's one of the easiest... Any Mega Man, Batman games, Battletoads, Double Dragons, heck even the Mario games bury this one in difficulty. That said, I am NOT saying I can do what this person did in the speed run xD. If you were REQUIRED to do the caves with no candle, then I'd change my tune about the difficulty :)

Zelda 2 is fairly easy if you aren't concerned with speed. This is because you can continuously farm enemies that respawn to collect magic and then cast the life spell, basically giving you endless health except boss fights. Now games that have rare or no life drops, and harsh or no checkpoints... those are hard games. Think like Battletoads, Ninja Gaiden, Jekyll & Hyde, etc.

the glitched state is not maintained after a reset (I'm using up+a while paused on the second controller.) it does remain if you up+a in GP as that's the only place where the game starts you at the beginning of the palace on game over. you can do this run without up+a/reset but it's a bit slower during the item collection phase

when you do healer glitch (check out an explanation for this on the site redcandle) you enter a copy town that we call glitch town. entering a doorway here starts a memory stack and it gets to the point where you lock the game's ability to scroll screens to the left. the graphical glitching is also a result of the memory overflow

@amputechure3 жыл бұрын
Like guess28 said, there's always glitchess runs. However, imagine if doing this game glitchless means dealing with a heavy amount of randomness that glitches can avoid. This means that every time you do a run (and speed runners do thousands upon thousands) and you get bad randomness, the run is over and you have to restart. Glitches take the fun out of a game but randomness takes the fun out of speed running.

At 9 years old I beat this game less than a month after getting it for Christmas in 88. No internet, no Nintendo power. After I beat it I wanted to see if I could beat it without the candle. Answer to that, no, death mountain eats your lives very quickly. Other than death mountain, no candle can be worked around. On another note for intentionally handicapping yourself. In final fantasy 1 for the nes. I wondered if it was possible to beat the game with all white or all black mages or any combo of. And my answer after way too many grinding hours was I'm not that committed to go past the volcano or ice cave.
