Infidelity just released their Zelda II: The Adventures of Link SNES port (weird it wasn't called The Legend of Zelda) and wow is it now IMO the best version of the original Zelda II on NES you could possibly play and it works on MiSTer FPGA! Retro gaming news incoming as this is just an awesome new way to play Zelda on SNES plus it works great on the MiSTer FPGA SNES core and may soon get MSU-1 Enhancements!! MiSTer FPGA review time with a MiSTer FPGA core and a retro game console banger!
and this is hot on the heels of Infidelity and his Mega Man III SNES port!

The Super Nintendo was SUPPOSED to have a CD-ROM attachment known as the SNES CD...but alas that was cancelled. So what did someone do? They created a variation of the same technology in software and FPGA code so we NOW HAVE FULL MOTION VIDEO AND CD QUALITY AUDIO ON THE MiSTer FPGA SNES CORE! How's that for cool retro gaming fun?
Questions? Comments? Just leave them below and I will do my best to answer each and every one of them!

These ports are kind of like peering into an alternate timeline where the SNES was backwards compatible with the NES.

Everybody had their own saves for Zelda 1 in my house but Zelda II was a family effort. We needed a team effort to tackle it. We'd all take turns and bounce around ideas of how to get over the next hump. I still remember when we finally finished it. Felt like some sort of monumental achievement. Haha. Memories like that are why I still play games "blind". It's a feeling/satisfaction I'm always chasing. And yes. Always wondered just how he got healed in there...

Zelda II was the first Zelda game my family owned, so I am biased towards it. I've never been particularly great at video games, and I still suck at it. Last time I played it, I had to use cheats to beat it. But I still love it. I hope the NES ports keep coming, as I was really disappointed to find that Analogue had no intention of putting the NES on the Super NT. I would love to be able to play my favorite NES games on the FPGA console!

Had it back in the day, i appreciated that they did something new and even completed the game (with the help of the tips in both the monthly nintendo ad magazine and commercial magazines) but def appreciated zelda 1 more. Do enjoy these nes on snes options as i sold my pal nes and gave away my zelda's to a good friend. May end up getting a ntsc or fpga nes again in the future though as it was a mega influential machine to me.......but i have a mister so no rush :D

I never really understood this game. I used to play Battle of Olympus a lot back in the day and I enjoyed the music a lot but honestly didn't really know what I was doing in it either. As for the ports, I try them- but I don't really get it. I mean, updated sprites or something would make sense. To me, it's just not something that is that exciting. Don't get me wrong, it's cool. But I don't really see the point. Then again, all of the ports I've seen so far are for titles I've never really been interested in.

I guess it's similar to 'the last of us' and 'shadow of the collosus'. The games are still on their og systems, but if you want better gfx and quality of life fixes, there are more modern options to try. And sometimes changes or stuff that gets worse (see thousand year door on switch being 30fps vs 60 on cube). But here i think there are hardly any downsides and definitely a lot of upsides! And for the price of free :D
