even for lego’s standards this is expensive. $300 for 2500 pieces is unheard of. usually a 2500 piece licensed set with new moulds like this one is still only around 150-200. this is pure greed.

So this inflation rate is actually much lower than I heard, which was that by 2020 or so the value of money had halved since the release of some version of the Xbox, and then that inflation has recently dramatically accelerated. So, I guess the Zelda set is worth about 47% more than Cloud City. But a 70% inflation since 2003 does seem kind of low, doesn't it? What did a can of automotive scratch remover use to cost in 2003?

Those sets consisted of one large and expensive set with a black box, and two smaller and more affordable sets with "normal" boxes. This could be the same thing going on, as the Great Deku Tree has a black box. Eventual other releases could be less expensive (anything from 20 to 100+) by normal lego standards. Granted, as it is a licenced theme, it's going to be a little more costly.

Both Deku Trees look really good, same goes for the minifigures, but man, $300 is WAY to much, even for a 2 in 1 set. I think that these should’ve been in separate sets just to cut the price down a peg and make them more easily affordable that way.

Lego is more then a toy like a modal but it's still in the toy entertainmant catagorey and I draw a line at this. I realy hope a theme and sets at a wide price range get going. Link and the master sward pedestrial' link and King Of Red Lions' Ganon's tower' lonlon ranch. With games from nes to switch to draw from this is an opertunity lego should use.

There's definitely a need for more Zelda figures. It's usually either really expensive Figma figures, or low quality World of Nintendo figures, (and mostly just Link and Zelda). I'd love an entire wave of 6-7 inch figures based on Ocarina of Time. Have both Adult and Child versions of Link and Zelda, the Six Sages, Ganondorf, Sheik, Epona, Malon, Octoroks, Stalfos, Iron Knuckles, Kakariko's windmill guy, you name it.

2:04 Some clarification here, the 18+ rating used to be Lego's 'Expert' rating up until 2020 when they changed it to match their other ratings; four other Nintendo sets have been assigned this rating, the NES set in 2020, the Super Mario 64 Block set in 2021, the Mighty Bowser set in 2022, and the Piranha Plant set in 2023. In effect, it looks like Nintendo and Lego are releasing these advance build lego sets about once a year around October or November, and with the Super Mario Brothers sets those have usually been followed up with additional smaller sets rated for younger age groups. This means that if you don't want to pay $300 for the full set, you'll still likely be able to buy elements of the set for a smaller price in the future, if past set sales for Super Mario Brothers are any indication.

Never ceases to amaze me just how little merchandise there is out there for The Legend of Zelda. For how popular it is and the fact that a big portion of the fan base is now adults, there’s hardly anything out there. This is a step in the right direction but as soon as I saw the 2500 piece count I knew it would be multiple hundreds of pounds. Hopefully they’ll do some smaller, more affordable sets as well.

Given that they've created six whole brand new pieces for this set (three hair pieces, the hylian shield, the master sword, and the ocarina), I doubt this is the last we'll see of Lego Zelda. Even in Star Wars, it's rare for there to be two exclusive sculpts (piece shapes) in a single set, let alone more. Not to mention the potential money Lego and Nintendo would be missing out on if they only made a single massive set.

LEGO castle was at its height when I was a kid and had I not given away my sets to family friends with young kids (I know they adored it so I’m at peace with it), I could see this blending in with those perfectly. Maybe it’s because the same Xmas I got both my first big LEGO castle set and the o.g. NES so my imagination already lives in that space
