Your commentaries are always very interesting and worthwhile. I can tell you put a lot of good effort into these videos! I think it's really funny how in OoT when you get the bomb bag, it tells you, "Now you can set bombs to C and blow stuff up! What a lucky guy!" It cracks me up. I really want some exciting and adventurous music in BotW. That's one reason I love Skyward Sword so much!

I saw that you had made the list when I was at school, so I couldn't wait until I got home to watch it! I wasn't disappointed, as this is easily one of your best videos yet! Amazing job Owners! :) The ten items you had were the exact same I chose, but in a different order. 10: Fire Rod and Lantern: I loved the introduction of lighting torches in ALTTP, and the fire rod was an awesome and satisfying way to do it. 9: Mirror Shield: same positioning for me. You explained it well. I didn't want to include the master sword or Hylian shield, but the mirror shield was equally for puzzles and protection! 8: Hammer: especially the skull hammer and the one from phantom hourglass. They feel so fun to use and so POWERFUL!!! 7:Boomerang: this is on here for two games: WW and LA. They feel so fun to use in those games, that it felt like more than just a tool to stun things. It was also pretty cool in the DS games. 6: Roc's Feather/ Cape: I always hated the lack of jumping ability in Zelda, so having a very fun way to jump was awesome for me. I loved this item, and it is one of the things that makes Link's Awakening one of my favorite Zelda games. 5: Bottle: You can beat Ganondorf with one of these. XD. I loved the addition of being able to carry around potions and fairies, and still having a bottle afterward. I especially love getting all 6 or 7 in MM! 4: Bombs: bombchus, water bombs, and bomb arrows are three of the coolest items in the series, so it is obvious why it is up so high. They're always so satisfying to use, and a lot of fun. 3: Bow: it's only at number 3 because it isn't very original like the top 2. However, it is a lot of fun to use in TP and ALTTP, and the elemental arrows were pretty unique. You were right that this was going to be a returning item for the whole series. (I loved your choice of music, Hidden Village, since it is one of my favorite themes) :) 2: Musical Instruments: this is really high for me because music is one of the most important things for me in video games. And being able to play the music felt great, especially the ocarina. I loved the ballad of the Windfish and the sacred duet, so the instruments made these moments very powerful to me. Quick Honorable Mention: Pegasus Boots: awesome to be able to run faster. 1: Hookshot: you explained the greatness of this weapon. Whether using it to sneak around the Pirate's Fortress or just destroying things in LA since it's so overpowered, it's a whole lot of fun to use, as well as being extremely useful. Using the double claw shots in TP & SS is awesome and makes me feel savage. Also, the Mission Impossible Theme has returned. OH NO!!! ;) Again, great countdown with awesome reasoning, and great work with the audio in the background. It sounds the prefect volume, which makes your videos even more fun! Thanks again for making this video, and I can't wait for the ALTTP randomized stream and the Top Ten Unsettling Themes. I'm gonna bet that the song that plays when the guardians wake up in the silent realms in SS is gonna be pretty high up. That one always scares me! :)

Yeah, we were wondering about which theme we'd use. Items don't have their own themes, so it was easy for us to think out a certain dungeon that an item comes from and use that (Hammer - Fire Temple), and we just thought there would be too much OoT music if we'd have Water Temple for the Hookshot and Forest Temple for the Bow, until it occurred to me... "HIDDEN VILLAGE!!", and we both instantly agreed xD 2: Indeedio! 1: TP's Double Clawshot = Mission Impossible. There's no way around it :D Thank you, and we're glad you found the sound perfect here! TheOwnersOfTriforce I can relate. When I was doing my Top 10 Things I Like, Don't Care, and Hate in video games videos, putting in footage from several games at once can be a pain. It's even worse when you're looking for specific footage in one game at a time like "Where does Link use the bow in this Zelda game?" and have to glance through it and guess where he does use the item. That's where I give you major props for your dedication finding this footage. Congrats, it was a rough bump I bet. :)

Yes, EXACTLY! I mean, we do have to find footage for different enemies from all the games when we did lists about that and such, but to find the exact moments we not only used the item, but used it in a specific way was very time consuming :P Glad to hear that you understand xD And thank you very much! just another note, the bottle can also be used as a weapon (in OOT). And in all honesty that was my favorite way to beat Ganondorf, it was just crazy that you could beat him with a bottle :D.

Amazing list! Zelda has some pretty unique and fun items. The items are some of what makes Zelda so unique. I also absolutely love the bow (especially on horseback), the hookshot/clawshot and the different instruments.

TheOwnersOfTriforce It's pretty easy to forget that :) Epona isn't in very many games, and I can only think of three where you can shoot from her back (Oot, Mm & Tp). Besides for missions like the Romani ranch defence people normally prefer to shoot from the ground instead of on Epona anyways since it's easier. (I like the challenge lol)

Cool idea to have 2 lists. 10. Never played the games, but I know the idea of jumping in Zelda isn't a common thing since it either happens automatically or it doesn't happen at all. An item to let you manually jump is pretty interesting. Ability to jump and fly though, is awesome! 9. This made my personal top 10 as well. I actually think it was #9 or at least in the lower section. My favorite game that I used it in was Wind Waker when you could use it to defeat Poes and that Mirror Maze was awesome! But I still loved the idea of turning someone's magic on them like in OoT. 8. If I were to list one of the most Iconic items in the series, this would be it. It's in my Top 10 because of how versatile it is. My favorite version is also in WW, but I do love TP version. 7. When the Hammer appeared in games, I liked it but I found it to be pretty forgetable. 6. Easily top 3 for me. I use this thing like crazy when I got in LBW. Because it's powerful and a long range item, which I enjoy. 5. I think the Bottle is the most underrated item so I am glad to see it on this list. I remember when I made another list of top 10 Moves (or magic abilities, it's been years since I created it), and at #1 I put Every Healing Ability. I still stand by it. Any way to heal myself is a lifesaver and I wouldn't be able to defeat a game without ways to heal myself. So when I discovered I could keep healing remedies in a bottle this way, I always made it a point to get every bottle in every Zelda game or at least most. 4. Only time I mention bombs on my list was the the Bomb Arrows from TP. Yeah they were awesome hehe. 3. Never occurred to me to put a Musical instrument in my list, but yeah they are useful. I just find them a bit tedious. 2. *Is pretty sure what #1 is now* I love the Hookshot. Best version though for me is in TP, but LBW's gets an honorable mention lol. 1. Yep, no surprise. Although I wish my #1 got a mention though. *Than remembers the title of countdown* Nevermind lol. Anyway, this item did make my list when I mentioned the Bomb Arrows. On it's own, I am torn between OoT and TP though. But yeah this is probably the most iconic weapon after the Master Sword.

On number 9, I was actually kind of disappointed that Skyward Sword didn't have an actual Mirror Shield you could use with motion controls. Although it would have been very confusing, as in that game shields are kept as an optional item in our pouch, I think it would have been cool to use it against the elements seen in the game like fire, electricity, and curses. And ironically they had a great Mirror Shield design in the game already. The final upgrade of the Sacred Shield, the Goddess Shield, was a beautiful design that fit well with Skyloft's rich culture and it even had the ability to show the zombie moblin's their reflection and make them back off, a reference to Mirror Shield abilities. Even if it was just a bonus ability we got and never had to use to complete the game, it would have been nice to put more use on the counterpart of the sword.

TheOwnersOfTriforce Oh yea it's pretty fun to make them cower at their own reflections. Honestly, the only time it is useful is when you fight the Stalmaster in Sky Keep with the added challenge of Zombie Moblins trying to gang up on you, but they will back off if you have your Goddess Shield in front of them. But Zombie Moblins, for what I can remember, only appear in certain parts of two dungeons in the game, and I don't think the ability works on any other creature.

Good to see the Roc's Feather on the list here. I didn't realize it was in so many Zelda games. I totally forgot it was in Minish Cap. I personally would have placed it higher on the list, but that's just me. I respect your opinions. Also great to see the bottle and bomb on the list. Those are very underrated items, and I was actually going to bring up the bomb if you hadn't put it on your list. My all time favorite Zelda item would be the one that you can't really put on any list because it's just way too obvious. Yep, it's the sword. It's by far the most useful item in Link's possession, and getting a more powerful sword is always a truly awesome feeling!

Boomerang appears also in Majora's Mask, although indirectly. It's possible to use it when in the Zora form. Also, ball and chain in Twilight Princess can be seen as a type of hammer.

I really love the musical instruments in the game. They give it something extra and amazing. I loveeeeed playing ocarina! And the spirit foute was amazingly hard to use on the 3ds (blowing place is at another location so i couldn't figure it out) but it was still great! The harp wasn't very Nice to me. I play harp myself and i taught it was kinda lame just shaking your controller on the right times. But anyways great video, ;)

I'm pretty sure that although bomb arrows were possible in LA it was not something that was purposely added but just an exploit that was possible, TP was the only true use of the bomb arrow. Also you missed another use for the Bottle, it's very useful against the final boss in some games.

You might be right about that. If so, it was a huge overlook on their part, cause it's not like people went to great lengths to discover this. It's just pressing both buttons at the same time. In addition, there was also the combo of Pegasus Boots and Roc's Feather in the game, so the developers might have wanted to test out other combos as well. And yes, we should have mentioned that xD

Phantom hourglass gets a bit much love here even though temple of ocean king was fun on my second time playing the game literally! You can skip many floors by doing nothing plus the phantoms bring fun by removing... The same of uselessness because floor 4 or basement 4 always had a chest with a red potion and plus I did ice temple first then goron

Really cool vid! And I do agree with the list :D My favourite on the list is the boomerang and hookshots/clawshots... Then there are the gloves/mitss/gauntlets etc It's too bad they've been called too many different thing but the use of these items to clear paths has been undeniably helpfull, at the same time I'm not so sure they're "items" per se as once they're on you usually can't take them off :P It's more fun with items you can intechange rather than permanent fixtures, so I totally get why they're not on the list :)

Awesome :) Yeah,they're great! And that's sort of what we thought too. The strength items aren't really that much "used" like we said about tunics. However, what you said about how the strength upgrades stay that way is a point too, cause with the tunics in some of the games, you can actually switch between them. So that's a good point you brought up that we've sort of forgotten about :)

Exactly, they're pretty essential but they're also not very interactive :P I'ts like bomb bag or quiver upgrades, very very important but nowhere near interactive... So even though they're all items they're not part of the true puzzle solving where you have to switch between arrows, boomerang and/or hookshots/clawshots to solve the puzzles of a dungeon. So I think this list is very very good and well planned! And as you say in the vid about the amount of vids you guys have made, I think it's quite astonishing that you've been able to make so many vids! Not just dungeons, bosses or side quests but music too... Very good! You guys may have made a video about this before, sopleae forgive me if you have already... But since we've seen you're favourite dungeons, music pieces etc. I'd like to know what is the hardest puzzle you guys have had to solve, wether it be a side quest or dungeon, boss or a bug you had to find... Just a problem og puzzle solving issue that you guys spent a long long time to solve, doesn't have to be something you were impressed with or awesome to behold. Just something you felt you spent hours on trying to solve ;) Maybe "The hardest challenge we had to endure" kind of vid, again sorry if you've already mentioned it in a previous vid or similar... But I think it could be a good story for a vid, if it's not already told :P

When writing the script, we started thinking "How many lists have we made in total without making an items list, a hundred??" Surely we were just joking and didn't think we had made that many, but when we counted them up, we were pretty surprised that we had made that many! And yet we have about 20-30 lists planned out for the future o.O Huh, that's actually an interesting thought, and we haven't done that before. The Wii version is very fun to use with its motion controls. It doesn't require total precision, which is fine in some instances, but it's also definitely more fun aiming with the Wiimote than the gyro in the GamePad when you use bow and arrow, Clawshot etc. The screen on the GamePad did offer some good things with the item switching and maps, in addition to a hot key that would transform you to Wolf form quickly and such, so it definitely had its good points. I might have enjoyed the Wii version a bit more, but the HD version is great as well. Maybe equally as good, maybe even better, but I don't *really* think much about which version is better. - Owner 1

Sure, it was just to change up the music choices. We'd mostly just use dungeon themes if we always picked the dungeons each item came from, but at least with the boomerang in Minish Cap, you could buy it in the shop in castle town there. That's why we picked that as the theme for the boomerang :)

One thing I really do not get is why Nintendo calles The Harp of Ages and the Goddess Harp when they or at least the Goddess Harp is more like a Lyre. commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lyre1913.jpg as both Link and Zelda in SS play it with one hand while the other ones holds it in place. For example, in a classic old comic book series about a native American tribe or the sorts is called "Sølvpilen" in Norwegian, directly translated to "silver arrow".
