LIVE: Watch live as Ukraine President Zelensky addresses the UK Parliament in a historic moment.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will give a 'historic address' to MPs on Tuesday via video link this afternoon. Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle said he granted the request for Mr Zelensky to read a statement to the House of Commons at 5pm on Tuesday on the Russian invasion of his country.
Sir Lindsay said: 'Every parliamentarian wants to hear directly from the president, who will be speaking to us live from Ukraine, so this is an important opportunity for the House.

Ukraine can become independent, but is not allowed to unite with one of both (military and political) alliances..something like the neutral border between Europe and Russia - and so maybe really something like "the capital of humanity, spirituality and peace" (mayor of Kyiv). The Great Gate of Kiew always was the border between Europe and Russia, the Gate to Russia! Name "Ukraine" comes etymolocally from "border".That would be such a sought new security construct or security architecture! Ukraine as a peace zone and independent!but it needs a mediator! 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇷🇺 Ps: Listen to "The Great Gate of Kiev" by Mussorgsky! You will understand a lot! 🎧🙏

Zelensky is a complete hero in the true sense of the word, worthy of a knighthood, more so than others with the title of Sir. It was great to see the whole house come together as one, apart from Kier Starmer, as his speech was solely about the labour party's thoughts, actions and reactions. Listen again what he said, then watch other leaders' speeches as none of them mentioned their party or politics.

If he had been a true leader his country would not have been torn apart in a civil war for 8 years. He would have been in diplomatic talks with Putin and Lavrov and he would have told the UK and USA to back off and let his country decide its own future not being a pawn of the west and fertile ground for their proxy war against Russia.

This is the difference between an extraordinary man who is not a career politician with a personal agenda. He is a man of the people, passionate about his people and their right to freedom. This is the kind of leaders we need not wealth sodden, ego driven people who haven't the first clue about the people. President Zelensky is a hero. I hope and pray he, his family and Ukraine survive. Our Govt need to stop talking, lying and finding ways to choke the UK people and open our doors to those fleeing. I am ashamed of their delay tactics.
