Great review, still feel that this could have been an all new model rather than a thresher as it feels like a completely fresh/new design. I really like the color combination of the single cut mop and yellow. As someone that prefers a standard gmt to a worldtimer (less busy/less text) I'm imagining this release as a standard diver with a slightly shorter bezel due to removal of the gmt hand. Dimensions/wearability would be perfect and it would have a great style in between the rugged hammerhead and more refined blacktip. I disagree with the crown size reduction, while I agree it appears too large I feel that adding a mako style crown guard would help with reducing the visual impact of the crown guard and provide a nice additional protection feature. Would 100% buy this watch as a mop single cut diver with a yellow inner chapter ring and seconds hand.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the kind words 🥂 Agreed, it's really a Thresher in name only. Beyond the GMT, I don't see much of any connection to the prior. I could see the Mako style crown guard helping with the crown balance. It's a minor item, but still something that could improve the design IMO. What you've proposed for a non-GMT follow-up form factor/offering could be cool. Cheers

Another excellent Zelos offering. The similarity to the Hammerhead is what struck me first. You're getting a lot for the money here. I also like the MOP, but I have to say there's a bit of a MOP overdose here. Less would be more, and what I mean by this is that I would have liked a less obtrusive material choice for the bezel to give the MOP effect on the dial a bit more room to breathe. That said, the chalk grey and the burgundy are my favourite colourways.
@JonathanTReviews3 ай бұрын
Definitely, the Hammerhead lines are undeniable, just in a sleeker and more wrist hugging package. I enjoy how the bezel and dial often tend to pick up the pearlescence at different times, but can also see it being a bit much for many. I'm really liking the look of the Chalk Grey execution and am curious to see more of the Burgundy in real world footage. Cheers

Excellent review as usual. I like this watch to be honest. Good job Zelos. 👌

Terrific review, Jonathan. Awesome comparisons. Like others said and I have been, I'm curious as to why this is called a Thresher. I'm likely in for this MOP.
@JonathanTReviews3 ай бұрын
Thanks buddy! Agreed, it doesn't match the prior, but we also have the Mustang Mach-E, so... 😂 Both perfectly awesome but couldn't be more of a departure from the predecessors. You really can't go wrong with the MOP. I think it's the best looking, at least based on this sample.

I have six Zelos watches, but am going to pass on this release. If I eventually get a worldtimer watch, it will be with a rotating 24 hour dial. (Perhaps an Orient Star.) I am glad that you pointed out the difference.
@JonathanTReviews3 ай бұрын
Happy I could help 🥂 Understandable preferring a more "true" complication. I'd prefer the same, though this works fine in reality as I really don't need the complication and enjoy the look and wear characteristics.

Is there a functional difference?
@carllange39503 ай бұрын
@@JonathanTReviews I would probably have gone for the Aventurine dial, but I am getting to point where I should give away or sell some of my watches, so I don’t end up buying more watch cases. “He who dies with the most toys, wins.” sounds appealing, but probably is not an optimum life motto.
@JonathanTReviews3 ай бұрын
Yes and no. A traditional world timer, whether through a rotating disc or otherwise (like the Geograaf I show), moves to constantly align times with each city. This style world timer bezel uses a GMT hand but needs the bezel to be rotated to orient with the cities based on your selected GMT hand timezone. The negative, it functions more like a converter, requiring action to adjust by the hour or when needed. The positive, it maintains an independent GMT function, allowing you to use it with/without the world timer function (which has inherent difficulty with things like DST offsets).

@carllange3950 I feel your pain and really need to clear out some space as well. Far "too many" watches and limited time to wear my personal collection.
@tommydude9693 ай бұрын
Disappointed they called this a Thresher. It clearly has more similarities to a Hammerhead than anything else. Looks nothing like the OG Thresher
@JonathanTReviews3 ай бұрын
Definitely a closer pairing with the HH case style, but the design works well by any name at least. Cheers

Beautiful case and dial… too bad the crown is at 4 o’clock… far too similar to Seikos. The insert is nice, too.
@JonathanTReviews3 ай бұрын
4 o'clock crowns always seem to be polarizing. I'm largely indifferent but can understand the preference, for and against. Cheers

I like this watch but the bulky crown and bezel have so far kept me away

Wish the date window did not exist
@JonathanTReviews2 ай бұрын
They did that in the past with the original aventurine watch in their lineup, the Horizons GMT Timekeepers Edition. While the watch itself was popular, there were a lot of complaints about a GMT not having a date.
@jackson_682 ай бұрын
I have a Zelos Swordfish 300m bronze that I ordered without the date window. I find myself missing that when the watch gets wrist time.

I love the info in your videos but your s-backing makes them hard to listen to. I think it’s something you can change with practice, or maybe some speech therapy. Try saying ssss-trap not shhhhh-trap. Really exaggerate it both ways. There is no “sh” sound in words like strap, strong, and striking. Just make sure when you pronounce the “s” sound that you keep your tongue under your front teeth.
@JonathanTReviews3 ай бұрын
I'm glad you enjoy the info. Honestly, not even sure how to respond to the rest. In many years of professional speaking, it's the first time I've had that come up. While I appreciate my supporters, I don't intend to go to speech therapy, if that's a determining factor in future viewership/enjoyment. Cheers

Are you serious? First, personally, I have no issue with this reviewer's presentation. Second, if you really want to help, send a private message. Otherwise, it looks like you're just trying to call attention to yourself. Attention that shines a less than flattering light on you.

What a silly comment. The presenter has an extremely pleasant voice and does a great job of narrating the video.

Gonna get the aventurine one I think. Do you think the coating on the bezel will last long and be scratch resistant
@JonathanTReviews2 ай бұрын
I hope you enjoy it! Without any hard knocks (especially true for aventurine [glass] in general), I expect it will hold up just fine for the life of the watch. It will be susceptible to scratches (but aluminum, stainless, etc. are as well to varying degrees) but should be fine with basic care. The raised crystal helps to block it. Additionally, the epoxy coating can be buffed with acrylic polish if needed (though I wouldn't do it excessively). Cheers
@HeistFPS2 ай бұрын
@@JonathanTReviewsThanks for the insight! Didn’t know you can buff out the epoxy so that’s good . I’m assuming they weren’t able to use sapphire with the aventurine and MOP materials
@JonathanTReviews2 ай бұрын
@HeistFPS My pleasure. Yeah, I'm guessing resultant thickness was at least part of the issue.
