The way the Endgame story reflects that of BotW is actually surprisingly similar. These Sheikah Monks/Doctor Strange who can see the future create guardians for Ganon/give time stone to Thanos, knowing it will result in the fall of Hyrule/Thanos Snap. Then, over a period of 100/5 years, the world becomes desolate and empty. Then, a hero rises and brings Hyrule/the world back from the brink of defeat due to Sheikah Monks’/Doctor Strange’s plan. Majora's Mask was a direct sequel. - Link's Awakening was marketed as a sequel to ALttP, followed by Oracle of Seasons and Ages also marketed as sequels to LA. - The Wind Waker outright mentions the aftermath of Ocarina of Time in it's Prologue, but ignoring Majora's Mask. The 6 Sages are heavily featured and the Hero of Time is worshiped as a Hero. Phantom Hourglass is marketed as a direct sequel. - Twilight Princess was mentioned in interviews as a sequel to OoT, parallel to ALttP and Wind Waker, but on a separate Timeline from both. Aonuma and Miyamoto even jokingly claimed TP Link is the same Link as WW, albeit on a separate timeline. - Spirit Tracks is a marketed as a sequel to WW and PH, taking place about 100 years later. TriForce Heroes was marketed a direct sequel. - Breath of the Wild was initially mentioned in interviews to be a reboot of the series, but what was actually meant was a reboot of the formula, especially of the OG LoZ, as far the Timeline, it is mentioned in interviews that it was up to fans to decide, though once enough copies were released and enough people had time to play the game to completion, it was later revealed that BotW takes places at the far end of all three timelines. Any claim that the Zelda Timeline was an afterthought because of fan demand are made in total ignorance, considering there has always been a timeline, and interviews with Aunuma and Miyamoto, as well as some marketing, prove it.

Definitely agree with this. Given how the shrines differ from the role of the guardians and divine beasts, combined with the Sheikah's "sight" of Hylia, they most likely knew that Link would have to lose the battle to win the war. Makes things interesting when you realize that they would have known about getting banished. Perhaps those of the Yiga didn't like the idea of this, and tried to "oppose" fate by changing their path. Ironically, the Sheikah would have seen this coming as well. Something that got me thinking was a recent video by MaskedNintendoBandit where he suggests that the shrine of resurrection was meant to keep the ancient hero in a "stasis" state, to return 10k years later and combat Ganon. I liked the idea, and Kass' "hero's cache" song would make even more sense. "One day, I'll return to fight evil." Even moreso with the translations, "I shall be resurrected someday , in preparation for the Calamity." But why would he send these songs to himself? Remember, Link lost all memory when put in the shrine. Perhaps the same would happen with the ancient hero. But of course, that's just a theory.

Pascal Sick Word of God won’t ever be canonical, sorry. And that’s even if the “timeline(s)” didn’t literally contradict themselves with the placement of various games. And *Ganondorf* was defeated. However, Malladus could quite possibly be a portion of Demise’s Malice that separated around the time of the Floods, migrated to New Hyrule, and became Malladus. (It’s...literally in the name, with “Malice” revisited in BotW, and ST and SS both being developed simultaneously.) So the Curse still lives on, which is pretty much as evidenced by yet another Link and Zelda showing up at all. (You know. Besides “more games”.)

just some amateur speculation, but what if the divine beasts and all of the Sheikah machines were designed and put in place to tempt Ganon and siphon off a portion of his power to make him more vulnerable? if his power were truly limitless then most if not all of the guardians would still be functioning and maintaining control over Hyrule. why even bother with small weak creatures such as moblins and their kin? yet the majority of the guardians are dead, just resting in empty fields away from any form of threat. very few of them seem to have suffered significant battle damage. maybe destruction of most of the kingdom was the price to be paid for weakening Ganon to a point where he could be beaten later.

Another potentially interesting factor: how the plan with the guardians and divine beasts failing was NECESSARY for Zelda to unlock her sealing power. It's her desperation and her love for Link that finally triggered her magic in his dying moment; if the plan had worked, she might never have gotten emotional enough to access it - and it would all have been for naught just the same. Maybe the Sheikah foresaw that the guardians and divine beasts would be corrupted and made the sacrifice to build them anyway to save their present time; but maybe they ALSO foresaw that they had to build the engines knowing they would get corrupted to push the future princess to unlock her powers.

@marioandultrachap Жыл бұрын
Maybe but it could of been a different way. Remember mipha was going to tell zelda the secret to unlocking the power then calamity ganon just happened to appear right at that moment. If things had went a different way and there were no divine beast mipha may of had a chance to tell zelda the secret and she would of unlocked it anyways. So possibly but seeing mipha was going to tell zelda and even gasped when urbosa said "we just need to find that thing" its almost like mipha knew the secret it's likely in my opinion that she struggled with her healing power until meeting link and whenever she thought of link since that was her love the healing power came natural. Mipha was well intuned so we can't forget about her. Or maybe not even mipha could of been someone else that zelda may come across Similar to mipha but it technically didn't have to go the way it did. Even in age of calamity zelda unlocks her sealing power over link but it happened in a much different way without the guradians. If we have a timeline where the shekiah technology doesn't exist I mean who knows how things would of went.

We've seen Zelda get possessed before In the timeline so maybe Ganon realized that he could possess her slightly and kill Link. Likewise, I predict that Breath of the Wild 2's story will also involve time travel in such a manner that Link and Zelda will prove to be the hero and princess of the Calamity ten thousand years ago, ensuring that Link's triumph over Calamity Ganon and Zelda's destruction of the Calamity Ganon via the Triforce will play out, if that makes sense. It's rather convoluted, but, if the Ancient Hero knew he would one day be revived in order to face the Calamity after gaining a temporary victory, then Link having already completed Breath of the Wild and going back in time to look to the future of what he had already done, he'd be aware of what would happen in ten thousand years' time and ensure that Breath of the Wild's endeavor would be successful. I feel like that made no sense whatsoever, but I hope I conveyed some sense of cohesion there. With regard to Ganondorf, I'm less confident in this prediction, but I could see the battle with Ganondorf taking place as part of the events ten thousand years ago, culminating in his transformation into Ganon after being defeated as Ganondorf; Link and Zelda finding him in his ancient corpse state, though, I believe will take place in the present, just after Breath of the Wild, and that he'll somehow retreat into the past and prove to be the Calamity from ten thousand years ago, with Link and Zelda giving chase. It's kind of similar to Ghirahim retreating back in time after failing to restore Demise in the present of Skyward Sword in order to restore Demise in the ancient past, except much more convoluted and nothing I just typed makes any sense and I lost any and all sense of cohesion a mere few sentences in so this is probably one of the dumbest and most nonsensical things I've ever typed in my entire life, but I'm posting it as a comment anyway as a punishment for myself for doing this in the first place, forever immortalized in the comment section of a Zeltik video for others to read and think "What the hell is that guy smoking? 'Cause it sure doesn't grow on Death Mountain."
@ignaciogomez74034 жыл бұрын
I think that might just be true. I mean, think about it, Link and Zelda arrive down to Ganondorf, and he's like "Holy shit, they're actually going to end me.", so it plays out as him (or his malice) going to the past by 10,000 years to tell past Ganon "hey man, you can just corrupt all this tech", essentially ruining the Sheika's plan from the get-go, and Link and Zelda have to stop him.

A Theory: The Sheikah knew Link wasn't the true hero...just yet. The ancient hero is the sealed beneath the ground, now consumed by malice. It was sealed in him. You can see it in the hair and green hand that he is of Zonai origin. I believe the Zonai were slaughtered by Ganon, who knew his demise would come from the power of someone of that tribe. It's a power that link receives from the ancient hero in BOTW2. They had to test him to see if he were worthy of the ancient hero's power. The true power of courage.

I mean, in fairness to the ancient Sheikah, they got 10,000 years of no Calamity Ganon out of the bargin for only 100 years of ruined Hyrule. I'd say they got a pretty good return on their investment. I mean, consider that 10,000 years ago in our world, human civilisation hadn't even started yet, the last Ice Age was just ending and humans still hadn't figured out farming. Sure Hylian technology might have gone backwards thanks to one particularly paranoid king, but the Sheikah managed to seal away Ganon and build technology so resiliant that it survived the entire span of human civilisation in working order, plus they kept the tales of Ganon alive for that length of time also, so the people of the future would be able to eventually defeat Ganon. Which brings me to another point, Nintendo has no grasp on how ridiculous spans of time actually are do they. Everything happens either 1000, 3000 or 10,000 years ago. If BOTW does actually follow the rest of the Zelda timeline (rather than being its own thing where every other game is a story of the hero rather than a historical event), then that makes Hylian civilisation over 100,000 years old. And yet they can't invent a train without someone else having put down the tracks for them? Why exactly did Hylia chose these people, they're all idiots.

@franciosdauteuil46264 жыл бұрын
I actually have a sort of hybrid theory inspired by both yours and nintendoblackcrisis video. What if the sheikah predicted that the seal was only temporary but also left their technology behind for use after Ganon's return. What if they sealed away part of the ancient heroes spirit into the shrine of resurrection for use when the Calamity would return. The hero knew he would come back to fight the calamity and left treasure for his return. Link in defending the princess was at the end of his physical rope. He was put simply dying and his courage pushed through and made him ready to fight til the end in an effort to save the princess of hyrule but when zelda unleashed her power it caused his own mind to break. Essentially wiping who he was from his vessel and shattering his mind to the point that phi needed to tell zelda to get him to the resurrection chamber. I believe that the sheikah foresaw all that would happen by Hylias gift or ancient use of the gate of time recorded and passed down by the sheikah. They knew that in the end the hero's courage would not be enough and that they would need to bring back not only the hero of that time but also the hero of old. By using the body as a vessel and putting the soul fragment of the ancient hero into the vessel in order to fight the calamity. (the stone used has quite often been theorized to contain the souls of the dead but what if this particular shrine ran on the souls power of the ancient hero for just this reason?) This is why the shrines were not affected by ganons return but mearly activated in response to it. I believe that in the sequel link will obtain the full power and memories of his ancient life by lifting the magic seal on ganondorfs body. Perhaps the original intent was to send the ancient hero forward through stasis but the kings fears forced them to instead use a part of the soul of the hero while the heros power and the remainder of his soul was used to seal ganondorf away until the future vessel was ready to take him on?

I’m thinking that maybe they could see every possibility, and that they saw that Link 100 years ago could never defeat Ganon at that time, no matter how much training they gave him. Let’s face it, there’s one critical element that was missing back then: Zelda’s powers. It was only right at the critical moment on the cusp of defeat that she awakened them, far too late to do anything other than temporarily seal Ganon away. But of course she couldn’t defeat him by herself, she’s not the Hero, that’s not her destiny. What if the Sheikah saw that Zelda wouldn’t be able to awaken her powers early enough to assist Link, and so they knew that Link wouldn’t be able to win. Knowing that, and seeing how much control Ganon would have over their technology, creating those shrines for Link to train with after Zelda had awakened her powers and sealed Ganon away was probably the only option, as bleak an option as it might seem.

Idt the sheika can tell the future. I believe what we think of as forsight really just means wisdom. That said, i think it went like this. Ten thousand years ago the sheika created tech to help the hero seal ganon. But they knew their seal wouldnt last forever. So they created trials for the hero to help him learn their tech, for whenever ganon returns. Thats it. 1.Zelda couldnt acess the shrines even though she had a slate cause it wasnt meant for her. 2. The gaurdians and divine beasts being corrupted wasnt calculated. That was just bad luck. 3. Trails that were solved via the outworld quests was just gaming logic and neuances. 4. The shrines and towers were not activated after ganon returned. I think it was only activated when LINK used the sheika slate to activate the one on the plateau
@tunnelnugget31814 жыл бұрын
I think it's reasonable to think that Ganon's wit and magic could be used to hide himself from the sheikah's foresight. So while they might have near perfect foresight in general, Ganon may have some way of countering it. If that's the case then it could just be that the Sheikah actually didn't know what Ganon was going to do and just tried to use everything they could to ensure that the hero would have what he needed to defeat him. This is especially likely if the Ganon we saw in the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer is the Ganon from Ocarina of Time since he is known to be a great sorcerer and is probably the most intelligent Ganon in the series.

I would get it if they weren't able to destroy the Divine Beasts,after all they're giant and it would be difficult to destroy them,but what about the Guardians?
@nene007600754 жыл бұрын
Your right. If they would be a disadvantage later on why not get rid of them. The divine beasts would be hard but not impossible, and the lesser guardians it seems would be very easy. My only theories as to why not are that 1: there was simply to many to deactivate, meaning that it was a more reasonable thing to bury/hide them (this might be what the king was afraid of that caused him to ban the ancient tech, he may have been afraid it would happen soon if the tech was left out in the open) and/or two: there wasn't time. We don't know how long it was between the defeat of the calamity and the baning of Sheikah tech. If the king became worried during the war after seeing what the tech was capable of he may have instantly outlawed it after it was over. This may not have left the Sheikah with enough time to destroy it. The shrines may have been built more in secret as it is implied that they may have been hidden underground with the rest of the tech. They could have been built shortly after the ban and left there, and those that were left out and visible the whole time may have been repurposed shrines that everyone at the time believed where old places of worship and not containing much if any forbidden tech.

i think the Sheikah only saw up to the next Ganon attack and couldn't see beyond. that's why they couldn't predict what would happen to the Guardians. only after Ganon was sealed away could they see the next time he will emerge and that he'd take over their creations. maybe for that reason the Sheikah wanted to destroy their own creations but the King of Hyrule wanted to keep the Guardians and Beasts as a precautionary measure and so had them buried instead, which inevitably caused their own destruction. that's why the Sheikah built towers and shrines to help the sleeping Link defeat the Guardians and free the Beasts. also as a side note 10,000 years is a bit too much to swallow. look how humanity evolved in far less. i know Hyrule isn't Earth but people don't just stop evolving for 10,000 years or stop inventing creations that even surpasses the Sheikah since they're no longer around in the numbers by the time BOTW takes place. remove one zero and i'll believe the passage of time, otherwise a really thin stretch. another side note: it's 17 OF 24 (not "and"), means out of 24 hours in the day the cache is at 17h, not 17:24h. also it's not military time for majority of the world, it's just regular time. and another also maybe the Sheikah told Link what will happen to him in the future, that he'll almost die and will need to be resurrected in the Shrine of Resurrection, that he'd lose his memories because of it, which is why he left himself the message that he did, knowing he'll be returning to fight the evil again.
@Wolfy50794 жыл бұрын
I’ve always had this feeling that the sheikah never built the guardians nor the divine beasts. To me they just seemed to have been taken over too easily by Ganon’s malice. Maybe 10,000 years ago, the divine beasts and the guardians were all under Ganon’s control. Maybe link with the sheikah’s or zelda’s help was able to purge the evil from these machines and then turn them against Ganon. After Ganon’s defeat, the sheikah repurposed them until the king who was wary of their power rather than paranoid and ordered for them to be buried. Meanwhile as the ages pass, the original story of how the sheikah gained the power of the divine beasts is distorted and lost to time until we have the legend we see in breath of the wild. Since the guardians were under the control of the monks at this time it would also explain why we see them in different combat trials for link. Since Ganondorf was a clever strategist, it makes sense for him to take control of these creations again since it would be clear to him that the people of this age did not know how to utilise them properly and would make it an easy win for him.

(Young) Link in Ocarina of Time supposedly had foresight. At the beginning of the game, he had the vision of seeing Princess Zelda and Impa riding out of the castle on a horse. Then seeing Ganon on his horse and Link screaming in terror. And maybe this Ancient Hero said in The Hero's Cache quest just proves that the Ancient Hero who knew he would come back to finish what he started, is Adult Ocarina of Time Link, who failed. But then that hero who came back, the descendant of Adult Oot Link would be Twilight Princess Link, right? Yes, but Link in BotW is obviously not TP Link. So maybe BotW Link is the descendant of TP Link since the Hero's Shade in TP is OoT Adult Link's restless spirit. What if the serious BotW Link before the Calamity is a reincarnation of TP Link and the resurrected Link is supposed to be a descendant of OoT Link, taking on more of his personality possibly for forgetting everything. This sounds a bit far-fetched but I'm just thinking out loud. OoT Link was sent to the Sacred Realm and slept there for 7 years, which is why Zelda sent him back in time to regain his lost time. And since OoT Link knew he would be resurrected to finish what he started and hid away his money for the future hero was kind of backward foreshadowing, but not seen as it in OoT. But later "explained" in BotW.

I'm pretty sure *"17 of 24"* is just 5:00 PM. The *"24"* is a clue to indicate that the *"17"* refers to time (the 17th *of* 24 hours in a day), and the shadow falls on the same area at 5:00 PM. Were it really 5:24, it would have been *"24 of 17",* as in "the 24th minute *of* the 17th hour". Also, using a 24 hour format to write time isn't "military time", it's what most of the world uses. @@Vonias Here, in that French part of Canada, the 24 hour format is the standard. Anything official, like scheduling an appointment, will be spoken and written as such. In casual day to day life though, when the context makes it obvious that it's either AM or PM, people will use the 12 hour format ("at 3 o'clock"). As soon as it could be ambiguous if it's AM or PM, most people will use the 24 hour format for clarity, mostly because saying *"3 o'clock in the afternoon"* is longer than *"15 o'clock"* (as the AM and PM abbreviations don't exist in French). There's also the age factor, as children usually learn time with the 12 hour format first (since people use the 12 hour system in casual conversation, and digital clocks used this format when I was young), and can have trouble making the conversion to the 24 hour format until the age where they can "think in the 24 hour format", so to speak.

It's possible after that battle was over and ganon was sealed they had the premonition about his escape and destruction of the Kingdom thousands of years into the future, and then built their shrines and retreated into meditation. None of the stories about the battle against Calamity Ganon 10.000 years ago even mentions the shrines. Even the tapestry only shows the Towers, not the Shrines. That makes me think they were a later addition, made by these 120 monks when the eventual outcome of Ganon's sealing became clear to them.

Great theory as always! I think that yes the Sheikah knew Ganon would attempt to seize the Sheikah tech. So they attempted to make them so that they wouldn't take control. But ultimately failed and did not see that as there are multiple endings to every moment. Ganon after being sealed away for 10,000 years (ish) and realized they have a weak point and that they were damaged. After he returned he sent out malice orbs to possess them, he also killed the Champions by summoning the blights and taking control of the Divine Beasts. He then sent the guardians after Link and Zelda to kill them so he could take Hyrule then the world. Link was then put in the only Divine Beast that wasn't taken by Ganon, The Shrine of Resurrection. When Link gets the Divine Beasts back after that the monks challenge Link to the only one untouched by malice. Maybe the Sheikah 10,000 years ago, did not know that they would get corrupted 10,000 years ago. The Sheikah then realized that their machines would be corrupted. Zeltik, this was my response to your theory and my own lil' bit of a theory. Edit: Sorry that this is long just had to get it out and from what I have seen this is I believe one of the longer comments.

Amazing theory, I think it leaves a lot of room for speculation/alternative theories! Stuff like this is why I'm such a die-hard fan of zelda... let the theories run wild!

Does the "ancient hero" look an awful like Ganondorf or Demise and NOT a hero in any way in the tapestry in BoTW to anybody else?

Nothing in the tapestry looks like it's suppose to. The guardians in the tapestry are red and black while they're brown, silver, and blue in game, with the blue being replaced by purple when Ganon is controlling them.
