To be fair, a lot of crazy stuff happened in previous Zelda games. Things that warped reality and threatened to annihilate entire WORLDS. Some of those events were centuries in the making, but others cropped up over the course of mere decades. And it has been an *incomprehensibly LONG* time. The guardians and Divine Beasts were made over ten thousand years before Breath of the Wild. A point which is already untold centuries, if not millennia, after the end of the latest point in the timeline. We can’t even begin to imagine how much has happened in the world since those entities were last seen. What’s crazy to me is the fact that the Master Sword has existed in the world of the Legend of Zelda for longer than humans have existed in our own world.

And even that could potentially have been thousands of years after we first met the one in SS. If anything, the surprising part is that there's anything left of them. Or that the dragons didn't get themselves killed in the inbetween after one actually did die prior to SS until Link undid that.

I believe it's just a reference to how the Zelda series has a habit of having 3 interesting things but only having 2 resolutions for them. Like the 2 "seeds" for the Gameboy which has 2 important characters named after the 3 goddesses but then the third goddess character isn't as relevant due to her "seed" not panning out. Or the exact same reference characters in the minish cap having a sidequest where you leave one of them essentially homeless and alone because you can only build 2 houses. Or the 3 pearls in wind waker! 2 of them have interesting dungeons, but one has an island wiped out with a storm. That third dungeon is completely brushed aside. Now we have 3 gigantic whale skeletons and only 2 have a resolution, leaving 1 with no clear parallels. It's just a running theme at this point.

Levias is a sky deity and lived high in the clouds, perhaps he just stayed up there in the later games due to him not being able to go down to the surface, and maybe a trip down to the surface is what got him killed, and the wind fish needs water, so a drought would clearly kill it.

Jabun lives in the great sea and a sudden drought could've happened to unflood Hyrule Edit: Jabun also is in a cave found inside a mountain top, something could've unflooded Hyrule and caused an ice age, leaving Jabun inside the outset's cave to die Also just because the skeleton doesn't resemble Jabun, doesn't mean it can't be. I tried to find a whale that looks like Oshus and decided a sperm whale was as close as I could get. I found out that a sperm whale's rounded head is not caused by it's skull. The skull is very close to the shape of the last leviathan and the sperm whale head structure would line up with the pictures of Oshus from the game. The only problem is the lower jaw being seperate.

The video author leaves out info and downright lies to make his case. The “cloud barrier” as he calls it is only seen after you hit a dragon with an arrow. It is simply a mechanic the devs used to de spawn the dragon entities out of view. There is no visible ‘cloud barrier’ when the dragons spawn and de spawn naturally. Farosh spawns in Lake Hylia, Naydra and Dinraal can be seen flying horizontally for quite a while through the sky before they descend (with no cloud barrier.) Not to mention the flaws with how the author analyzed the skull of the Hebra skeleton. This theory is based on misinformation and cherry picked evidence.

I have an idea that I can’t prove, but I can at least present as food for thought. What if the third Leviathan is the last remnant of an evolved Dodongo species? The only other hint to their existence is a Massive footprint on Death Mountain. It’s an odd concept, but I think it’s at least worth discussing. I know it’s weird to say a Dodongo, a beast that inhabits the volcanic death mountain, could be found in the Hebra region of all places. But if we take Majora’s Mask into consideration, they can indeed survive the icy cold tundra. I can’t say for sure why they would leave Death Mountain, but I guess it COULD have something to do with the fact that Gorons now have CANONS, so they might have been driven out by force until they wound up in Hebra by passing through North Hyrule. The head shape as well as the tusks match up with common characteristics of the Dodongo. Things like the fins and the general whale like appearance can also be explained by looking at a few biological factors. It’s clear that Dodongos are very dinosaur like, with the original just straight up being a Triceratops. But taking a closer look at baby dodongos, you can see they very much resemble miniature versions of these Leviathans with their small whale like bodies, fins, and that same colossal armored skull (which, side note, even Levias has a thick armored body and head similar to a Dodongo). I highly doubt they gained the power of flight, but I theorize that, in order to survive past youth, they evolved to more resemble their infantile forms to continue to slither around and crawl underneath the snow very similarly to the sand seal. They already do this in Ocarina of Time. These beasts are no strangers to changing appearance across games. Hell, in Twilight Princess, they look almost amphibian like with those big frog like toes, but most resembling a cross between a crocodile and a salamander. The massive leviathan one (which is a freaky looking thing in its own right) could simply be the new King Dodongo, which grew to enormous sizes considering it has no real predators to threaten its life span, but eventually died of natural causes forever trapped in the depths of the North Summit. Maybe their preferred habitat isn’t a specific temperature, but instead it’s below the surface. As stated before, baby dodongos mainly stay beneath the ground and the race as a whole loves the caves these big mountain ranges provide, which shield them from the outside world. Which is why they’re such a disturbance to the Gorons who feed off and mine the rock and minerals of these caves. They could still be hiding there, slithering about the endless dark tunnels beneath Hyrule and setting aflame all who oppose them. Maybe, if Breath of the Wild 2 really does take us into the depths of Hyrules underground caves, we could yet again challenge these beasts and slay their new king. As we’ve seen from the trailer, we’re in for some new creatures that we haven’t seen before. So this would be a good opportunity to bring these Dino’s back. I sense another video idea!

A few things: With the new BOTW 2 trailer practically confirming the Skyworld, the Sky barrier does hold a lot of evidence now, especially with SS being rereleased ahead of BOTW 2. And if theories are correct that there's time travel/playing as a Link in the distant past, we may even get to see this new leviathan potentially. The two we can identify had the ability to fly and were killed in ways that would be understandable for flying creatures. The one near Eldin could've suffocated due to all the ash spewed into the air from a Volcanic eruption and depending how far away from the ocean it travelled and how fast the drought happened, the wind fish could've died from dehydration. I'd imagine it would be hard for a flying leviathan to be killed by an ice age however, unless a blizzard brought enough snow to bury it and trap it, which wouldn't have been possible based on the location. So it's likely to have been either an underwater or land leviathan.

I just had a thought about the Hebra skeleton. What if we're thinking of this the wrong way? What if the third skeleton isn't that of a benevolent being, but rather a malicious one? In SS, we see that not all bosses are unique. We have repeated instances of the giant scorpion in the sands. Perhaps the Hebra skeleton is that of a boss monster. I'll have to look up footage to jog my memory, but my first guess is the water temple boss in TP. I just remember it being a massive serpent or some such. Maybe we need to broaden our scope to the wider bestiary of the series.
@Mickers19192 жыл бұрын
this can't work with the TP boss of lakebed temple because in the game we defeat it and no body remains

@Micah Schulz however what if Morpheel was just one of potential creatures in TP? We only see Morpheel in the water temple. And wouldn't it be awfully suspicious we don't see any deep dark underwater creatures other than those clam things and jellyfish in TP? Maybe there's something else out there
@Beefaroni_Bert Жыл бұрын
@@kurokorichanTP2006 wasnt morpheel made by Zant tho? its called the Twilit Aquatic, that implies that Zant had something to do with either its creation or granted it something to fight Link. Stalord clearly wasnt created by Zant yet has the title Twilit Fossil after being revived by him so not really sure how Morpheel was affected by him.
@GarryDumblowski Жыл бұрын
Morpheel wouldn't work anyway because the anatomy is completely off. Rather than a whale, it resembles a giant moray eel with a mouth that opens horizontally rather than vertically, almost as if Morpheel is some kind of god from a cosmic horror novel. As far as I know it was made by the darkness of the Fused Shadow, which had already demonstrated their ability to turn ordinary creatures into horrific nightmare fuel by that point in the game with Fyrus. Somewhat humorously, the Hebra leviathan DOES resemble a monster from TP, the Skullfish which can also be found in the Lakebed Temple. Problem is, the Skullfish is just _sliiiiightly_ too small. If Morpheel is a heavily mutated Skullfish, that does make this theory technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.

I never played any zelda games other than Link's Awakening (2019 v.) and botw. So hearing that the Wind Fish is dead, that hit hard. It made me feel like the Island of Koholint is even more gone. Although, I did like it that there was "Toronbo Beach" and "Koholit Rock" on Eventide Island, refernces to "Toronbo Shores" and the Island of Koholant itself. I never even heard of The Cloud Barrier or Levias (had to look up how to spell that) before this video. My theory was that the Hebra Region was once set much lower in the ground, and In the cauldren was an ocean, where this leviathan lived. Then, a huge freeze came over the already chilly region, freezing the leviathan in place. After years and years of earthquakes, it turned the frozen ocean into mountains, closer to a point where the cold was so intense, it couldn't be thawed. then, while looking for Divine Beast Vah Medoh, the dug a chamber around the fossil, then sealed it up, for fear that then bones might be of one of Calamity Ganon's minions, and it could return to flesh at any moment. Either that, or it's a skeleton of a creature that will be introduced in a later game that takes place before botw.

I feel like this is a good topic to bring a meme into focus, titled roughly "How aliens would reconstruct *insert animal skull*" Such as the hippo, platypus, and especially an orca. It's really important to remember that there's who-knows how much meat and cartilage all over them. It could very well have been any one of the whales the skeleton fits into and doesn't need to have a prominent headpiece if it just has a bulbous, meaty head. Fish seem to be especially strange based on skeleton due to them being in the water and able to grow bigger easier due to not needing to fight gravity as hard as the rest of us.

I know this video is fairly old, but it's one of my favourites, mostly because of how everything is explained. I have spent hours upon hours in this game, and every time I go in, I discover something new. When I first started, I kept forgetting that the game was set thousands of years after every other game, but now, everything I see that's a reference to other games hits me with nostalgia. We as the player are the only being in Hyrule to remember what those places are, what they were for, and the significance behind them. To the NPCs, they are simply relics, historical sites with no purpose beyond a landmark from the past. When I first discovered the Arbiter's Grounds, I realized it was from Twilight Princess. Seeing the dungeon that I spent well over two hours combing through and finally ending being buried up to the Sages' pillars in sand, I realized that it truly had been thousands upon thousands of years. It hit me that *I* was the only one who remembered it. It made me realize that nobody else knew the significance, and that when I found it, nobody else (in-game) cared. It was that moment when I started looking at things through the eyes of the NPCs; I started looking at structures long destroyed as ancient relics and trying to figure out their importance. Even if it wasn't important to the game, I wanted to know. Why are there massive bones everywhere? Where did the leviathans come from? Videos like this one really help me to realize that I'm not the only one who is so interested in all of this lore. I don't think we'll ever find out who or what the third leviathan was, and that's okay. I love being able to speculate. In the end, that's why I absolutely adore these videos and theory channels about the Legend of Zelda. Things are open-ended to inspire this, and I have no small amount of theories of my own relating to every detail that's unexplained. To be able to go into this world and find something new and talk to others about it is truly one of the things that I have a passion for. If you read this far, you're a champ lol. Thank you for reading my rant, and have a lovely day. :)

I genuinely think the alternate timelines are dreams of the leviathans. Hence the similarities with names and locations, with many alterations to hyrule, its enemies, and great evils. They were inspired by the Hyrule of Botw. And the Link that saves the windfish could be an ancestor of botw link, which would also make Alttp fall within this timeline

Another observation, I think the Hebra leviathan was modified to match Oshus instead of using the concept version. While it is a wierd skeleton that doesn't quite match, so is Oshus. He isn't quite a Sperm Whale and has features that are from a filter feeling whale and the Hebra skeleton does mostly match those wierd features when you consider that muscle and blubber are a thing.

The mysteries of botw are some of my favorite parts in the game and I believe Nintendo has done all of it on purpose. Whether it be for easter egg purposes or maybe something they want to reveal later on. The fact that there is a lot of quests directly referring to these mysteries means they didn’t just think “hey lets add this random thing that a player can just happen to come across.” They wanted it to be found and they wanted it to be speculated. I think Nintendo has a plan and botw is just the beginning.

@KairuHakubi4 жыл бұрын
doesn't look right at all, and he's a fish.. no, seeing those horizontal spikes... it actually makes me think of Jabu-Jabu. they would fill out the space of its boxy snout a bit. and the back of the head isn't really visible under thick blubber, but it sort of evokes the look of a more terrestrial mammal, which jabu-jabu is meant to look like.. kind of a hippo-whale.. even has the teeth. buuuut the eye placement is all wrong for that. so can't be. reckon we'll see it in a future zelda game.
@Shinntoku4 жыл бұрын
@@KairuHakubi I'll very much admit this is a very out there guess, but as for jabun being a fish, he is also implied to be a decendant of jabu-jabu, so he could still be a whale, and WW was a heavily stylized game, so they could change a lot when reinterpreting him

@michaclark96024 жыл бұрын
I can see this being likely, as the growth that supported his lantern was likely cartilage, and would have decayed and vanished with the rest of the body. The position of eyes and such isn't the same, but for that I'd suggest that it's simply the interpretation of WW style, as suggested in an earlier reply

After watching a few timeline videos, my current theory is that the three goddesses purged and merged the three timelines and that the Leviathans, in their roles as Guardians, assisted the process and died when their roles were completed. Maybe they protected the survivors in each timeline for example (I could see the Windfish protecting the people through a dream for example). - Farore descended in the Gerudo desert in the Hero Defeated timeline, removing all life in the process. - Din descended in the volcanic region in the child timeline, causing a giant volcanic eruption in the process. - Nayru descended in icy plains in the Ganondorf defeated timeline, freezing everything in the process. Once everything was done, the survivors awoke as from a long dream, the environment around them reshaped.

@denavertrees68573 жыл бұрын
I think I figured it out, so(clears throat) the final leviathan is a very large Dodongo that had been banished(I'm not 100% on this part) or left for an unknown from the Dodongo cave in the Eldin region, and dug from there all the way to the Hebra region in hopes for a livable habitat, which it didn't find. So it used if fire breath(which would explain why the cave is so snug and shaped like so with a large pool of melted and remelted ice at the bottom) and to prove this point even more, the horn on its head clearly resembles the on on a Dodongo's head, and the large legs visible pushing against the wall(the other two legs most likely under the iceor this is the type of Dodongo that is a bipedal) and finally because the jaw is in the open position as if it was breathing fire. And that's really all I figured out so i hope its right.

0, as long as there isn't any BOTW 2 info revealed people will go over the exact same "theories" and subjects another hundred times

One thing I wanted to point out tho, the third leviathan. When you run through the doors and get under it's face area if you look left and look right it has pretty distinguished arms with large hands coming off either side. Possibly not a whale leviathan but some other giant monster? Wasn't sure if you had ideas or theories on this but was curious for sure

As for the sky barrier still being around, you can see that it's even still farily strong whenever twilight princess takes place with the oocca, though it's more well known for some reason and easier to access
@Mickers19192 жыл бұрын
maybe the oocca couldn't get past the barrier and we're below it?

This honestly makes me feel a little sad. These were great, marvelous, gentle giants that we, our outer-universe being as the player, knew and enjoyed being in its company. But now, all that remains of these harmless creatures are their dried and forgotten skeletons

The Hebra skeleton was sealed behind a door, so maybe it was trapped there by someone. It could've been a monster that was sealed away
@seakaizers2211 Жыл бұрын
That door is looks like sheikah made, maybe it just there from the beginning and then sheikah made a door specially to hide it later on

I seriously can't wait to see what crazy lore stuff Tears of the Kingdom has in store for us. :)

I personally theorize that the third skeleton is from Windwaker, simply having been under the water minding it's own business whilst the hero of winds did his thing

At this point, Breath of the Wild is just a big easter egg lol.

If btw2 has time travel it makes sense to have two known faces and one new to expand on the lore, when we visit them in the past
@moo88663 жыл бұрын
HAS time travel? Do you mean IF? I also don’t think time travel will just pop up out of nowhere in botw2.

I think the Hebra Skeleton could still fit as Oshus. Skeletons are weird in that there can be a lot of seemingly out of place bone structures that are otherwise hidden thanks to layers of fat, muscle, and skin covering them. We humans obviously have a tailbone that extends out from the base of our spine, but you'd never know that because it's covered up by fat and muscle. The same could go for Oshus. His skeleton may indeed have a bone crest protruding from the back of the skull that was hidden by fat, especially since Oshus had a pretty massive head with a lot of soft tissue that would conceal an oddity like that.

I really love your channel, I'm new to the legend of zelda franchise. I just got my first nintedo gaming system couple of days and my first zelda game (breath of the wild) and over enjoyed the vast lore and knowledge you give
