Instantly subscribed. I'm happy that someone can actually show axe form is also very useful to break fatalis head. Ever since they figured out the ZSD spam, people have been judging SA as a cheese weapon when in reality, it still needs skills to use, and you can still die easily even when ZSD spamming. Thank you for showing that Switch Axe is more than just spamming ZSD, both of its forms are really fun, it's stylish and have a great learning curve to practice positioning and being aggressive at the same time.

I really love when players actually try playing and learn the attack pattern to deal with the monster, not just spamming, don't get me wrong, it has the merit just to kill it by any means, but it's funnier to feel like you are not in control all the time.

This is probably the fastest solo head break guide I've seen yet. And I think it's even easier than Frosftcraft GS since SA has so much mobility in Axe mode, and has an easier time punishing Fatalis head too (although they do hit in the same openings, SA has lower commitment and higher range).

One point to add on: For the cone breath, e.g. 10:52, if you have amp state or close to amp state, you may go for a double strike before using ZSD (triangle -> circle -> triangle + circle). It is sure that you have enough time since the cast time of ZSD after circle attacks from sword mode is lower.

Finally, someone who gets it. ZSD's partbreak modifier is god awful, overall if you clutch and do a full zsd it's about a 0.430x partbreak ratio on average for the damage you deal. If you do less, dependent on how fast you drop your ratio gets higher. a 1 tick ZSD has about 0.526, while a 12 tick cancelled ZSD has 0. 301 10-11 tick ZSDs are the most practical for dps&safety. Even with mantlez, full ZSD can die to cone rng when you drop off. Meanwhile, power axe mode has 1.3x modifier and you can bait out cones all day while needing to do only 1/3rd the dmg of full ZSD for each headbreak. Sword mode is still good because despite not having the same partbreak boost, you just do more damage in general. Plus Fatalis' good openings are pretty long so you can comfortably switch between sword and axe mode for dps and dodging. ZSD spam is overrated. It's just one of many tools the switchaxe has and I hate how dominant it is in terms of people's perception of the weapon. Especially with fatalis' new gear you can basically braindead spam ZSD on almost all monster's heads with high mantle uptime and divine blessing.

I'm one of zero skill discharge spammer but when I get my chances I also use axe mode for the break damage. But usually on random people just spam zsd all the way, so it makes me confuse which is better. Thanks for the video I'm gonna try it later, I don't mind the eye but to completely break its head in 5 minute that's freaking satisfying

axe break has natural part damage boost, its always better, esp after you power it up with the spin slam move. Only problem is that you dont have many openings, unlike zsd w mantles. zsd final blast has part dmg boost, but all the ticks deal very low part damage. Heads damage from it is about half the numbers you see.

@PeanutxButter it's not that I can't beat it, but even my best attempts result in 15 minutes with a single head break due to low part damage, or 20 minutes for a double head break since I can't use the siege weapons, I just have trouble charging the blade reliably without mantles so I have this huge 2 minutes openings which I can only get the blade charged and like 2 zsd

Switchaxe was designed for this fight, alongside bow and lance. I feel like his moveset compliments these weapon types the most since the entire fight is: Hit the hard to reach head on long neck. Surprising tho, I find partbreak less useful here than peak performance, agitator and WEX.

Tbf running part breaker 3 is pretty overkill, since the power axe mode gives you a roughly 27% increase in part breaker damage by itself. Also I'm not 100% certain but I think it doesn't stack with part breaker either

Nice tutorial. May i ask some question? While 5:50 ミラボレアス breath, you use sword zsd because of amped state. how about using なぎ払い変形斬り？ because of dps of zsd more than なぎ払い変形斬り?(O > R2) While 8:50 ミラボレアス using two slow fire ball, i often see one fast fire ball and one landmine after two slow fire ball. how to do damage while this moment(two slow fire ball > one fast fireball > one fire landmine)? Great run! I have never totally broken its head before the barricade. It's amazing. It's always great to see some quality Switch Axe hunts. You say you're not denying ZSD style, but I hate that sytle. Random SX hunters I meet these days are all just spamming Clutch ZSD whether the monster is enraged or not. And it ruins the hunt in my opinion.

Correction at 5:28 - 5:33 I cannot remember the exact numbers but it's something like 0.2 per tic and 2.5-3.5 for the blast. But anyway if you were wondering if you should use it for a zsd build against fatalis for hornbreak over axe mode I can't say I prefer zsd because of how easy it is.

@@vietster1234 well, partbreaker really helps but you just have to get used to his moves, enough that you know the opportunities to headsnipe, Zen already has a hunt breakdown for the sns that helped me, I have used sns once on him with both headbreaks, I always use IG on farming hunts though.

Idk if I just got unlucky but sometimes it might be best to shorten zsd after he does the fire cone breath. Sometimes he'll do the fire cone breath again immediately but you're stuck in the long recovery animation.

Hey Zen, would you like to demonstrate how to hit Fatalis in 4 legs, when he's doing the sweeping breath? I think there's an opening here, but it really hard because he's also moving forward/backward

Try to set up at the very end of the animation, as his head comes back to in front of him. If you learn it well you can do a morph sweep (risky due to recovery) or set up a heavy slam right as his head returns to in front of him. Only do small pokes before that point, his head moves too much.
