@@thecalm_soul If we consider load is equal to 3K ohm then calculate Vth. Vth is 12V. Since 12 > 10 zener diode in breakdown region.Since Zener is a voltage regulator voltage across load will remain 10 volts only.Use Nodal analysis. IR =(16-10)/1000= 6mA. Since Voltage across load is 10 volts, IL =10/3k =3.33m. Apply KCL in order get current through zener diode Iz=(6-3.33)mA=2.67mA. Pz =(Iz*Vz)=2.67*10=26.67mW.

Sir Vth=VL=I*RL=4×3=12V the first step u did to find out whether the diode is on or off. i worked out the way you did but if VL= 12V then Vl is not equal to Vz right sir?

First u calculate Vr=Vi-Vz=16-10=6volts Then calculate Ir=Vr/R=6/1=6mA Then calculate I(rl)=Vz/(rl)=10/3=3.33mA You will have Iz=Ir-I(rl)=6-(3.33)=2.67mA There you go

Kota Sriveni The difference between the vz and vth in above lecture is vz is the maximum output voltage that Zenor diode can give, but in order to give zenor output voltage constant the applied input voltage to the zenor must be greater than the vz. Then only the zenor diode will turn on . So to find input zenor voltage we find vth.

Doubt .. !!! In the two cases discussed for fixed voltage and resistance--- Since we are talking about the negative region... In case 1 when Thevnin's voltage is greater than or equal to Zener voltage the zener diode must be OFF. And when the Thevnin's voltage is lesser then the zener voltage the diode should be ON

How your V(load) and V(thevenins) coming different as both are equal to 7.27mAx1.2 Kohms. You have calculated V(thevenins) = 8.72 V whereas V(load) = 8.64 V. Being both in parallel both should be same.
