I have a doubt... when you are replacing the diodes with the battery, you have taken the polarity of battery opposite,i think.. clear it please.. you had done correct or it is wrong because when i solve questions , i always get wrong answers,,
@mohamedkalith76073 жыл бұрын
What polarity are you talking about?
@hm27153 жыл бұрын
In reverse bias ,,,, polarity of diode as taken same as Voltage across it,,, because Reverse diode is nothing but open circuit so the symbol basically represent the voltage across it..
@viku18073 ай бұрын
yeah i had the same doubt too, i think he got it wrong as in the last circuit he changed the polarity of diode with opp to battery but while writing kvl eqn he treat the polarity as it is

Sir ,as you said zener diode is heavely doped pn junction diode,and also the depletion region of such heavely doped diode will have narror region,which means the the barrier potential much reduced,then how did you say that in forward bias zener will act as normal diode with 0.7 drop (si) ? Can you please explain i stuck at this for an hour with my friends ..

Why depletion region is narrow in case of reverse bias.???
@aditikumari36776 жыл бұрын
Depletion region is narrow in reverse bias (of zener diode)as Compared to normal pn junction diodes due to high doping concentration and since the width of depletion layer is small so a high electric field acts (as E=v/x) and the reverse breakdown of junction takes place at a less voltage as compared to other pn junction diodes.
@raushanpandey60532 жыл бұрын
In both the cases,i.e. in avalanche breakdown and zener breakdown there is tearing of covalent bonds bcz of high reverse bias potential, then how they are different???

Hello Is there anyone who tell me what is the diffrence between avalanche breakdown and zener breakdown exactly? I undestood that in case of avalanche, electrons gains and electrons break the kovalent, but in case of zener, directly breaks kovalent. Is it true or could you tell me much clear explanation?

sir, normal diode also have a breakdown voltage above which the K.E of e increases &results in increased amount of e and conducts current .I have a doubt that why normal diode can't be used for voltage regulation
@Yoshitha-fq9en3 жыл бұрын
For a normal diode we has to apply more reverse voltage to get breakdown but for zener diode we can obtain breakdown earlier than normal diode no need to apply high voltage

Why is the depletion region is smaller than the normal diode?
@Prashantsingh8968 жыл бұрын
I have the same question. Since zener diode is highly doped, so the number of electrons in n-region and holes in the p-region will be higher than normal diodes, higher charge carriers means higher concentration gradient among both sides so more number of electrons should flow from n to p side and more number of holes from p to n side, so the region of uncovered ions should increase and hence the depletion region. But this does not happens, I don't understand why ?
