This would have to be the best video content on the 3540 Zenith Carby set up and adjustment. However, because of the size and number of parts on the carby, it would be a lot clearer and better still with well lit closeups of the parts you're adjusting, which at times were obscured by your hands. A pointer could be very useful for identifying the parts in discussion and also improving on the sound. which at times was inaudible. Overall, a great video for Mercedes enthusiasts.

To bad I did not know 3 years ago about the Zenith carbs what I do now. I would not have put the Webers on my 67 250S. I still have the Zeniths and might go back some day. If I the top plate of the rear carb is not now warped. oops. It would work better on a manual transmission as one loses the kick down for the automatic. Some thing no one mentioned 3 years ago. LOL but one can get around it, just have to shift yourself a little more. It is all an adventure any way. Keep up the good work Pierre and I will try to not mention some of the other things I have done and probably will do.

Not bad to rebuild, but it was hard to find the float adjustment height. Its controlled by copper washers. Kit was expensive by carb kit standards.

5:01 On the bmws you can't adjust the idle speed without taking the carburetor off... the intake runner is in the way

Thanks for the video, I have a few things to try on my hard starting 250C. I think my choke plates are not closed all the way and my cold idle is low. I think I should try one thing at a time and see how it reacts before trying the others. It was nice to meet you at the gull wing show in Wis.

Car starts right up. Cold start seems good. However idle to low. Before, had to pump pedal 10 times to get it to fire on cold start. Had to pump the shit out of the car for it to fire. Now, turn key car starts. Just very low idle. Stalled at the light and kind of jerks when you attempt to keep car running at light. Jerky when you pull away from idling at the light. Almost have to put in nuetral to keep idle speed up enough. Needs idle moved up

If your Merc is dying on lift after warm, check the throttle linkage. Good carb tuning, but sometimes just a few more drops from the tank will do a favor tuning can't. Stalling while cold. Twisty on the throttle arm will do. Leave the Zenith be.

If it idles cold but dies hot you may have a vacuum issue. OR, you aren't supplying enough fuel to the inlets. Nobody talks about this ... a few mm of push on those throttle arms on a Zenith makes a huge difference. Stall to run.

Hope it is not rusty LINE!. Drove car seemed to run and went thru gears fine shifted fine. Took on freeway and was cruising 65 70. Very nicely. Idle is off.

thank you for the video... I have a 1967 MB250S which i have rebuild the carbs and it finally started. This video will assist which part of carbs to adjust to get a smooth idle. I have one question Pierre, why is it that every time I put it in gear it dies on me. Also I have to use starting fluid almost all the time. Lastly should there be a solenoid on top of the valve cover (they said this is what makes it not die on you when you shift from P to D and or from P to R? Kindly assist and more great power to your channel. I appreciate any help or advise

Welli hope you already found the answer. I have a 1964 carb and there a is a big mushroom looking vakuum valve that should be between the both carbs. Attach a vacuum pump and check if it moves around -0,5 bar. If not, you need to replace it

Hi Pierre, I 've watched all your videos on zenith carbs but still having trouble to get my idle smooth on my 1970 250. After rebuilding the carbs it was all good, but then I changed out the idle mixture screws and now its quite rough. Tried playing with the idle speed linkages but didn't seem to do anything. Do i need a special tool to balance them? I tired using a vaccum meter but both carbs seem to read the same.

Need to check for fuel pressure. I put new fuel pump in and filter and new hoses and took tank and had it reconditioned. Blew out lines with air pressure tank. Blew some rusty crap out and fuel was flowing. Cleaned up everything. Took to shop to have carbs rebuilt. I put new plugs in before I took it to shop. They stole my new plugs and said car needed HOTTER PLUGS. TOTAL RIPOFF. RAN CAR COUPLE HUNDRED MILES TOTAL. Car wont idle at the light. Seems like starving. Ran on freeway ran well at 65 70mph. Maybe rust in line or Idle just 2 low. Seems like linkage is off someplace. Metal rod fits in to ball. Linkage was stuck locked up after car sat. Freed it up with wd 40 and was traveling well. Going to take off air cleaner tomorrow and give the carbs a gum out trick. Then going to drive the car. And see what is what. Going to take it back to those clowns and tell them to fix it right or GIVE ME MY 1400 DOLLARS BACK. COMMON THIEVES.

If you have decided to get into the weeds with these carbs, I'd suggest a carb synchronizer. Unless you have really aural memory for what synched sounds like, that tool takes away so much guess work its not funny. Furthermore, if you are trying to explain your process to your friends or mechanic, you can show them a photo or short video clip of the synchronizer in action.

Need to do tomorrow on my 250c. The idiots who supposedly rebuilt the carbs did not set up the carberators right. Car is stalling at red lights. Paid these asswipes 1400 dollars and they screwed me royal. Seems like car is starving for fuel. Car has new fuel pump and tank was done with new hoses. That was my work. These guys robbed me. Did nothing and overcharged. Saud I would be happy with car. I had new set of plugs in car. They stole the plugs that I had put in it then they said it needed a hotter plug. Total ripoff. Cars idle is to low. Will check linkage and adjust set screws. Can rust in fuel line cause weak fuel flow. I blew out lines when I changed fuel pump. And there was some gunk in line but cleaned it and blew it out with air pressure pump. Line could still be rusting? Is new fuel line needed. Can u test for fuel pressure. Seems like starving. Again correct pump, new filter, redone tank and hoses. Hate like hell to replace fuel line. A dirty job.
