The way to open the clasp is to pull it from the other end. Just like the Tudor Black Bay 38. No damaged nails as a result.

Yet again a superb review with a nice bit of history thrown in for good measure. Personally I think you are one of the best I’ve come across as you are not sponsored, trying to keep up with the hype or regurgitating the opinion of others. Keep up the good work brother!

I also own one and like it a lot. However the bracelet is a scratch magnet. You'll notice soon ;) Addition: totally agree on the date window. It's makes the design a bit less nicer. Would have preferred it at 6 o clock or just abandon it.

Great review...love this watch....but after this good rewiew I was surprised you didn't want to keep it...it seems to me this is the kind of decisions on may regret in the future when people start to realize this is a better watch than the Daytona...
@fredfisher26992 жыл бұрын
As an owner of this watch (with the black face) your review of it is fair. A couple of points I’d add though, in response. I think the Daytona bezel comparison is a red herring, yes it’s black ceramic but the content of the bezel is entirely different (10ths of seconds) rather than what you see on nearly every chronograph by every watch brand, making this watch unique, and the Daytona like every other chronograph on the market. Saying the black ceramic bezel is like a Daytona, is like saying every stainless case Daytona resembles every other brand’s stainless chronograph. It’s just a dumb comparison. My 50th anniversary Speedmaster also has a black ceramic bezel that uses the same register as the Daytona, yet no one says “oh that Omega looks like a Rolex.” So all of the fake controversy around the Zenith bezel making it look like a Daytona is just nonsense. The Zenith bezel is actually more different from a Daytona than every other brand with a black ceramic bezel. Your review talked about the origin of Zenith, but you neglected to mention that Rolex used Zenith’s El Primero movement until about 20 years ago when Rolex switched to their own in house movement. So these to companies have a long history, with Rolex depending on Zenith for its automatic chronograph Daytona movement until very recently given how old these brands are. Thanks for your content, looking forward to seeing more of you in my feed.

how many racing chronographs are there? How many pilot chronos are there? the chronos by Hueuer (monaco), Breitling (navitimer/chronomat), Breguet (type 20,21), Cartier (roadster), JLC (amvox) ALL have distinctive instantly recognizable looks. None of the aforementioned have ceramic bezels. Not one. Rolex etched that lane out. But more than just the material, its the proportions which match between the daytona and the chronomaster. Did Zenith copy the daytona's design in that regard...of course! But does it matter? i dont care. theres enough history that zenith has some claim on it. aside, the zenith has a far superior movement and cleaner presentation with the angular hour markers.

Just found you and subscribed. Great review of a watch I've owned for a year and a half! I pretty much agree on all points. The bracelet and the clasp is a let down. I wound up ordering the textured rubber strap for the watch and it's fantastic. I really feel that Zenith just does better on straps than they do on bracelets. My bracelet has held up and doesn't look all banged up, but I haven't really worn the watch on the bracelet very much. I believe Zenith on the water resistance. I compare it to say, my Breguet Type XX, which has a "sorta" screw down crown and pump pushers. It's also rated at 100M. Reality is, I'm not wearing this watch to the water slide park. I'm not wearing the Breguet there, either! I think watch people get a little OCD about water resistance. Wear the watch that makes sense for the activity. Thanks for the great video! I didn't realize these were retailing at $11K now, glad I got mine before prices went up!

Not sure on both questions, but I'd imagine with solid lubricants you're 5-7 years-ish depending on the watch. Probably starts around $600 then additional for replacement parts

Its definitely not a Daytona and it may be better than the Rolex. The one thing I wish they had done differently was given it a less Daytona-ey bezel, bracelet and clasp. Its got the horological chops to stand on its own even still Zenith wasn't convinced and gave it this very familiar look. Omega does the same thing on a number of models and I really wish these brands wouldn't.
@HarrisonElmore2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think even a dark grey-ish bezel or a matching navy ceramic and they would’ve gotten less criticism
@jethrojacinto50449 ай бұрын
The watch is phenomenal and absolutely beautiful no doubt but if people have to make the same type of videos on about how it's "better" than the Rolex Daytona then that's just for dramatic purposes for trying to be different. I might be biased because I own the 116500 white dial and of course it has its many cons along with its pros, but let's be real here.

Super in-depth review with so many good points! If Daytonas were actually available at MSRP I’m pretty sure Zenith wouldn’t sell any of these, as the price gets close enough to where I personally would spend the little bit more to get a Daytona. However, 5 years on “the list” or $40k grey market prices keeps these successful. Looking to get one personally!

Understandable on all points! It has a different aesthetic, but it’s close enough to certainly be compared

The Zenith is a better watch by far, both technically and aesthetically. Take the Rolex name of the dial and the Daytona is a very forgettable watch.
@louisbrandt53862 жыл бұрын
@Gary Boyle - completely agree and that goes for most of their watches. In addition, I find it odd that most Daytona fans are either completely ignorant or have amnesia regarding its origins - they were a complete flop originally and failed at least 2 of NASA’s tests for their moonwatch, now people love the things and I cannot understand why when you look at what else is out there in terms of history and actual watchmaking.

The watch addiction is a powerful thing! This one looks nice but I'm not a fan. I don't like the 1/10th sec. chronograph (makes me dizzy), the base 60 subdials (they confuse me), the escape wheel driven chronograph, (never a good idea), the date window (ruins the symmetry of the dial) or the clasp (substandard for the price). I'll wait for a 116500LN - my Rolex AD really likes me, so getting one from her is a definite possibility.

Nice review. But I’m the opposite - 3 different sub dial colors is too much. Don’t like the blue; they should stick with silver or gray. The Shadow is the Zenith chrono I’d go for if I was in the market for a luxury chrono.

If Daytona pricing were still at pre hyped stage (around 50% more than retail), this watch wouldn't survived in the market. Hence why Zenith nearly died and have outlets and sales.
@HarrisonElmore2 жыл бұрын
Decent point. Would be interested if that was the case to see the reaction!
@tomw4852 жыл бұрын
Disagree… the people buying Zenith aren’t buying it as an alternative to Rolex. Apart from both having a ceramic bezel the Chronomaster Sport and Daytona are very different watches. Admittedly the bracelet on the Chronomaster Sport is a cheap knock off of the oyster bracelet but it’s far better looking on a strap anyway.

@fredfisher26992 жыл бұрын
Maybe you’re just trolling, or maybe not, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Since Rolex depended on and used Zenith’s El Primero movement in its Daytona for many years, who’s the OG and who’s the wannabe? Dude, you’ve got it backwards! 😂😂😂
