Not sure if it's mentioned, but almost all of the characters that turn up from different universes are classic British comic characters. Robot Archie, The Steel Claw etc. They were all regulars in a bunch of post-war comic books. There's also a couple of characters from children's comics (Johnny Quick is clearly 'Billy Whizz', from 'the Beano', and a kid's character called 'General Jumbo' can be seen as one of the dead bodies at one point. He was a fairly harmless lad with a remote-controlled bunch of toy soldiers so not sure what he did to deserve a pants-off drowning, but hey, that's Morrison for you).

And Alan Moore featured a lot of these in captain Britain getting slaughtered as well

Sold ! So I already bought Zenith Phase One and based on your smooth mature level headed non over-emotional “everything in the comics universe is WONDERFUL “ spiel I also subscribed looking forward to watch your other content ! So- dream work would be an Absolute Edition of Grant Morrison’s Flex Mentalo it’s such a farce the softcover edition I purchased had small print in the dialogue balloons Grant Morrison demands big space for big ideas ! LMAO on the Humonoids Slip cased edition of Moebius The Incal I drew out of my 401k two years ago to possess it- it’s shrink wrapped and a holy relic I have cheaper “beater “ copies but the Incal is the greatest of all time and makes the over rated over played Watchmen look like a vintage “five and dime “ store . 💯👍🏻👑

Zenith was one of the greatest running stories in 200AD, the Art work was amazing by Steve yeowell. Great video.

2000AD is weekly. It would be a nightmare to wait for 6 or 7 pages every month.

Been revisiting zenith. Loved it at the time and re read it regularly. Clearly unlike the reviewer who doesn’t seem to have a grasp of the basics - just a hint if yourenot sure about something research it mate.

Zenith is fantastic - I have these editions - I always imagined Adam Faith as the Robert Kilroy Silk-esque Thatcherite PM in Phase one if they ever did a film.

Loved Zenith since it first appeared in 2000AD in '87. I've got every collected edition and the 1000 copy Ltd edition is smaller than this 4 volume set. Also Phase 4 was originally printed in colour so there is no B&W version.

2000AD is weekly. Judge Dredd "Megazine" is monthly.

Grant Morrison is my 2nd favorite writer after Alan Moore but I'd never read Zenith so I recently ordered Phase 1 and 2 on Ebay. Man, they are so good! I love how big the hardcovers are too and Steve Yeowell's art is perfect. I was curious why a few pages were in color in the Phase 2 hardcover. After reading the first 2 I ordered Phase 3 and 4 today. Did a KZbin search to see if anyone was talking about these books and was glad to see you had an overview, Mike. Loved your video too. You have the best taste in comics of any of the KZbin comics folks IMO. I recently even dipped into the Valiant reboot with a stack of trades based on your praise and have really been enjoying them. So far I've just read the first three Harbinger and X-O trades and the first Lemire Bloodshot one but all of them have been fantastic. I would say the Lemire Bloodshot is my favorite but all of them have been a really fun read and a great reboot of the Valiant universe that I loved back in the 90s, at least until Jim Shooter was fired.

Hey great review, just a note to say that 2000ad was a weekly anthology not monthly.
