Thanks for clarifying that you can replace the sticks with nunchuck sticks and NOT to use normal Gamecube sticks as replacements. You even went out of your way to confirm that the same shoulder plugs work in these things as well. I was pretty sure that these things would go by undiscussed but I guess I underestimated how thorough you'd be. Thanks for helping tons of would-be buyers. I had to figure all these things out for myself when I got originally got one of these a couple years back. I love my nunchuck-sticked Battle Beaver-plugged Hori Pad Cube and I hope others will too!

Hori is much closer to a 2nd -Party peripherals manufacturer than a 3rd-Party, IMO. They've been making controllers and peripherals for Nintendo since the original Famicom, and the plastics used in many of these devices have been noted to be eerily similar to the plastics used by Nintendo themselves in their official products - suggesting that the two may share manufacturing on occasion.

These Hori controllers are pretty solid overall. I have two of them. They were used but in good condition when I got them. The sticks are almost as good as the normal controllers, but yeah dashback has been an issue on mine. Nintendo actually uses Hori's stick technology for the Gamecube controllers, not vice versa. The z buttons are clicky vs the normal "soft" z buttons. I like the way the triggers are curved as they're more pointed. They also stick out a lot, but at the time I didn't mind it. The rumble on these are generally louder and more intense than normal controllers. The stick caps are also taller than the normal controllers, so if you want to change them you can use a normal cap and put a little piece of tape in the hole (I use blue masking tape), otherwise they will be too low and the soft under part of the normal stick will rub against the gate (feels bad and your cap will wear down more). The same thing can be done with the C sticks. I switched back to standard controllers because I can get better sticks, easily replacable PCBs and parts, I can borrow controllers if something happens and wouldn't need to "convert" or adapt nearly as much, and - most importantly - because the buttons on standard controllers are closer together it makes certain inputs/tech much easier and stresses my hands less overall.

Finally. I brought one of these to a local and was made fun of for using this controller even though I had no issues with using it. Personally I think it fits my hands better. @BigOnAnime946 жыл бұрын
I sadly don't have an adapter nor play games on PC, so I wouldn't be able to tell you, but on PC both would most likely be the same button. When I was testing this controller on my Wii for GameCube games, one of the games I used was a racing game (R: Racing Evolution) where the Z button lets you view what's behind you, holding both Z buttons and letting one go would still result in me being able to view what's behind me.

hey zenith a got a question that sorta relates to this and is something Im honestly confused on....the z button on a normal gamecube controller is it supposed to be stiff? mushy? like I found a bunch for sale at a garage sale and one has a stiff button that makes a click noise when pressed and the others is mushy....how is a z button supposed to feel on a gamecube controller? (sorry for not asking on twitter I dont have a account)
@zenithSSBM6 жыл бұрын
certain z-buttons on nintendo gcc are more "clicky" than others but not to the point where its stiff. are you sure theyre both genuine? and no problem lol i only mention twitter since the comments dont get flooded out
@Nico-il1tn6 жыл бұрын
zenith SSBM yeah both of them are real from what I can tell a black one and a purple one. I opened the black one and cleaned it and it feels nice but the z button feels soft...it makes a soft click...is it supposed to be that way or I put it wrong?
@Nico-il1tn6 жыл бұрын
Infact both I cleaned all the buttons, shell and sticks and after cleaing both the z button dosent feel stiff. Also both were real from what I saw from the board and also the purple one has the analog stick very lose..like shale the controller a little and it moves. Anyway I could fix this?
@zenithSSBM6 жыл бұрын
hmm ok so the z buttons seem normal just because they do vary a lot on how much they click from controller to controller. loose sticks can be a problem though if you dont like them loose.
