Just a little bit of lore. I thought his revolver sheathe was dumb too until you put some things together. He's a garlean, which is a race of humans that have improved physical characteristics, but can't use magic at all. Samurai techniques in FF14 do involve harnessing one's inner aether, which is effectively a form of magic. So in order for him to perform proper samurai techniques (in addition to his array of energy blasts and whatnot) he needs some kind of technology to imbue the aether into his swords. Which would be the mechanical sheathe.

Yeah, the way they seemed to adapt him is pretty brilliant, really. They adapted his AoEs into the Sen attacks but managed to balance them a bit better, made his Ame-no-Habakiri thing the dunk instead of just the stationary beams, Concentravity was basically lifted almost exact, Lightless Spark, Vein Splitter, making his big melee HP attack Unmoving Troika was likewise awesome. Making the EX mode HP attack 'THE POWAH TO TRANSCEND' was perfect. And adapting the Samurai's Sen in a way to get him to swap swords was really clever I felt(and making them tied to EX was cool since it enabled them to make them very scary and strong.) They also managed to do a great job at keeping his 'giant juggernaut' feel, by making his EX skill basically a Vanguard with an unblockable HP attack, and by making his unique EX skills unblockable with HP priority(which is the highest priority in the game.) He seems to fill in perfectly well in the usual Heavy slot on a team(and indeed seems to do better having a good Assasssin/MM on a team with him.)

It is still a gatcha so you are dependent on RNG but I havent played a dime and I have quite a few fully built characters. The game is entirely dependent on how much you wanna grind in it tho. Zenos is just ginormous. And like a superpowered juggernaut of a man as well. His father is super tall too but seems to be more of a thinking man/leader type guy that we've seen.(Other Garleans are usually tall but not like those two, they're scary even for Garleans.) Zenos is brute strength and force, the kind of guy who will just block attacks with his forearm and not budge. He started using katanas after he put himself against the best the Doman resistance had to offer...Zenos was alone and unarmed at the time(to try to make it a challenge) and he killed them all with his bare hands. He grabbed a katana off a corpse after having grown fond of the weapon after the samurai used them against him. They've been his weapon of choice ever since and he collects them. That said hes not a Kefka-its not wanton killing he gets off on but the challenge of a good fight.

No, it has HP attack Priority so anything that can block HP attack can block Zenos's Ex skills. Also, WoL's Shield of Light can not guard HP attack, He can with Bitter End+.

I think that having 3 different attacks that break through HP counters is unfair, but I suppose he doesn't go through surrounding HP attacks like Vortex of arms or Chirijiraden, right?

(In case you misunderstand) Not breakthrough HP counter, it just has HP priority. Can break a normal barrier and standard HP counter, but not Absolute Defense Barrier and counterattack that can block HP attack. For question. Yes and No, usually it doesn't go through. Zenos's attack can technically stop HP attack. but the question is will his attack hit them before their attack hit him. (Maybe Art of the Storm with the right position can hit at the tip through those surrounding HP attacks, but other cases, Zenos will get hit first.)

He needs to be in the buff, but yes, technically he has the ability to get access to another HP attack in a match(and an invincible one, at that). That one doesn't change, though, so it's not like Vaan who picks two he can access at all times(that said Zenos has more BRV variety.)

They need to ditch the trigger entirely due to latency issues and find some way to work in better brave or longer range trackability and magic hyperarmor on his back air, because as it stands, hes an assassin with an uphill battle to fight all the time with only his dash brave feeling like its worth dipping in for. Theu could remove Ultima entirely and just give him Renzokouken HP combo that hits like Omnislash, and no one in their right mind would complain.

Ok. Your preaching to the choir. Not like the old Dissidia was played by hundreds of thousands for long. Like this it quickly sunk into a niche community. Some people like this game. Others prefer the 1v1 style better. Dissidia will never be for everyone.

He honestly sucks so fucking bad and needs a complete re-work. Its painfully obvious this character was rushed from top to bottom >Awful poise >Awful speed >Awful dash start up frames >None of his HP attacks are dangerous >Can be outran >Matches are over before even managing to get all sen or even landing 1 meanwhile stupid broken characters like cloud still haven't been nerfed. I honestly feel completely useless to my team when I play Zenos and its a shame as a big XIV player that he feels so mediocre to play.

Most of the comments I see about him is that he's a cheap wannabe Sephiroth. So for the FF-community, he absolutely is one of the most lesser known villains, sadly.

Chances are they aren't data miners. Alot of people like to flat out lie and claim they data mined updates. Worse case Square tricked them with falsely named files.

It wasn't that they were wrong, it was that the datamine so far HAS been correct(Snow, Terra/Kefka costumes, Kam etc were in it), but it was that Zenos was decided on back in March 2018 or so, which was just after the game was released, so was already pressed with the info on it. (Also apparently after NT had been released on Steam, unfinished assets of Zenos were indeed found in the files.) Datamining can tell what's coming, but it doesn't always tell everything, nor the order that it's coming in. I'd still expect to see the datamined people(the costumes, returning characters, Vivi, etc), but I also won't be surprised if Ardyn pops up this year either.

In other words, isn't that how you found out the other dlc including the ones not in the season pass were going to be included? So if you already knew about those chracters and you all knew about Zenos' files being in the game, which is a possibility him being one of the dlc characters, then why wasn't this mentioned in the datamining? Also, you said Zenos' was decided on back in March 2018? Can you show me where you found that information? Another thing, nobody said anything about what order they come in, you're trying to make an issue out of something that was never even mentioned in my comment. It doesn't matter the order, it was the fact that they never said he was one of those DLC characters, they were wrong, he wasn't in the list.

@@shadovvwolfie790 Well they were right about the whole first half of dlc, so I believe they are, but I do believe that SquareEnix switched up on them. Me and my brother were talking about this when the datamine list came out, we already figured they would do this, it's nothing for them to just change up what they've originally planned through patches to the game. This is why I really wish people would stop doing this datamine thing, you're not only making SE angry when you do this, but you all ruin the game for everyone else, and it pretty much kills any chance for characters that we want in the game to never be put in. That, or these "Dataminers" are the same guys who don't like this game and they are fans of the older Dissidia games and are doing this just to ruin it, they are that malicious, and these people (I'm about 98% sure of this) don't even play the game, just want to ruin it for everyone else. This so-called "community" man.......smh.

@@TruePersonaGirl I play the game on a daily basis and I even have alts. Zenos doesn't do "the same stuff". The first boss encounter involves him zipping around and summoning giant energy versions of two of his swords as adds with large AoEs and only using Concentrativity and Vein Splitter. The second fight has him abandoning the use of those adds in favor of summoning phantom versions of himself as well as dark plumes of fire with large AoEs and introducing Lightless Spark while showing off his new sword. Third fight is a completely different fight altogether now that party members are present, using all three of his swords which require the party to adjust their positions accordingly, focuses Lightless Spark on one party member to hit everyone else, now has a tank buster with Unmoving Troika and has the Storm, Swell, Sword wipe attack

Zenos is one of the most popular villains in Final Fantasy, he's huge on FFXIV. Lots of people play that game regardless if they played FF games or not.

I'm also waiting for some characters from Duodecim to come back... but, even I not playing XIV (besides the trial XD ), it's just make sense to add someone to represent the villain side to each game...

@@owl.a987 Yeah, it's like lots of people who played XIV have played FF games, but a fair portion were not really into them before XIV, they were more MMO fans. (And there are people who played FF always who just joined into XIV.) There are some people who don't play the MMOs, who play the single player games and a few of these I feel forget that XI and XIV count as numbered titles just like anything else(not all of course, I know plenty of non MMO players who recognize them as FFs too.) And both games do well, XI is small these days, but has had a subscription for so long that it's been one of their more profitable games, and XIV is one of the biggest MMOs these days, basically WoW, FFXIV, ESO and somewhat GW2 are hanging out with XIV fairly regularly just under WoW. It was natural they would pick a XIV villain eventually and I cannot think of a better one to fit in a game about neverending war than Zenos.

Vahlon- 9 arts dragon I have. Have you? It’s been said he died. His corpse is possessed by an Ascian named Elidibus. Elidibus is the main villain, not the puppet he’s controlling. And even when alive, he wasn’t FFXIV main antagonist, the Ascians have had that role since the beginning. The closest thing to the main antagonist after the Ascians, would be Nidhogg. Zenos ranks probably around number 7 or 8 in line for main villain. So many better choices for the Dissidea FFXIV villain spot. Zenos was a waste
