Zentangle Pattern Assunta with Fragment K2

I used Eni Oken’s Art Raffle app to randomly select patterns for a tile and one of the patterns was Assunta by Zentangle. I loved playing with Assunta again and ended up creating several tiles. So, of course, I had to make a video for it. Assunta is Maria Thomas middle name and the pattern was named after her as a gift. It was inspired by a bench in a museum. The Zentangle newsletter that shows the step out is very interesting (see the link in the video description). It is a beautiful grid and I tried using several different fragments as fillers. I really enjoyed trying this pattern again.

Supplies Used in the video:
Zendala, 3.5" Zentangle tile, a sketchbook, or any paper
Black Micron 01 pen or PN (or your choice of pens and colors)
Graphite pencil (any pencil should work)
Blending stump

Zentangle is pretty genious , but it is not Meditation..I use it for calming my add. Watching your videos are as good as doing .I don't panic getting my simple materials together. I just watch. Thank You

I love your videos, Barbara. I find them very relaxing and enjoy that you do not play music and do not speed up your videos. You are definitely my favorite Zen artist to watch. Could you please explain to me the difference and the benefits of a PN pen and the regular micron pen.

Thank you, Debby. I appreciate your kind comments. 🥰❤ The PN means "Plastic Nib", and it is a stronger pen than the regular micron. The Micron 01 is a fine tip nib and it's easy to damage (at least for me), but I still love using it for fine details. The Micron PN (0.45 mm) and the 01 (0.25mm) are my favorite pens to use. I hope that helps.

I am jumping all around. I have been drawn to the botanicals/florals, but then watched your Monotangle 4 video, and found the grid patterns interesting. It's a different type of energy for me doing grids, as I want them to be more perfect. Will keep practicing to see if I can let that go. Thanks for all your videos. --Sherri

Barbara I just love this and can’t wait to try it. I love that your videos aren’t sped up and don’t have music. It makes it so much easier to focus. I had been wondering what was meant by “fragments”. What are “reticula”? I’ve heard that term also.

Thank you for your comments. I try to make my videos simple and accessible to everyone. I’m planning a video some time to better explain fragments and reticula. LOL! 😂 Some people do worry about breaking the rules (there are no rules) like using an eraser. The Zentangle police have never come to my door! 😀
