I was actually filming with pyro crew when the original ST1 caught fire. The rear brake stuck on and overheated the body to catch on fire. The car had also previously blow the clutch and suffered a few other issues. Stig also said the car was undriveable when turbo came in as dumped an additional 400 odd BHP mid corner when you did not want it. The ST1 was a beautiful car and I hope Zenvo have addressed it early production issues. Not a fan of that wing, does make a the car look broken......

Agreed
@luvzangetsu2 жыл бұрын
@@spdcrzy It does though. As the car turns right with speed, the outer side of the car which is the left side has more traction from the weight distribution of the car which goes left (simple law of inertia). Hence, the wing rises on the right side of the car, since as going higher, there is more air pressure generated onto the wing WHICH keeps the right side of the car planted. We all know a bigger wing means better down force. The wing of the AMG GT BS is huge which is why the AMG GT BS has supports inside the boot. As such the wing going higher on the right side generates more down force. You don't need to be an "aerodynamicist" to understand this. It's just plain physics.

I can't help but feel that they could have done a better job of designing the hydraulics of the wing system. Also watching the wing flip around while the car is moving is a little mind bending. It looks soooooo wrong.
@TimInertiatic2 жыл бұрын
The force of the wing is through the central hinge point, so how can it balance the car L-R? Same principle that means when a F1 car loses a bit of its front wing, it doesn't reduce downforce on that side, it reduces total downforce as it's connected via a central column...
@cyclistpete2 жыл бұрын
For your example. Losing part of the wing would effect the downforce for that side of the car, and overall downforce for the car. I could be wrong, but I think elevated part of the wing moves more air (more downforce) because the air around that part of the wing is less turbulent.
@TimInertiatic2 жыл бұрын
@@cyclistpete yes. For an F1 car It can upset airflow for the rest of the car and could impact downforce on that side of the floor, which would impact L-R loading. However, the downforce generated by the wing is delivered centrally In the case of the zenvo the disturbed air would be behind the car anyway. It would impact some of the air flowing over the car as it's increasing / decreasing drag side to side, but unless the body makes significant downforce at its extreme left and right I can't see it making much difference Although... Thinking about it and watching again, I'd misconstrued the aim. They are not trying to create extra downforce L to R, they are trying to oppose the centripetal force which pushes the car into oversteer. The wing is attempting to create a force vector which is down and inwards. However, you are then trying to oppose a significantly higher force through the wing strut than just XXX kg of downforce as you have the weight of the car at X G's to combat. So it seems logical that it would do *something*, it's just whether it's significant and whether it is worth it over the change in overall balance it would create
