Wow! That is impressive. Thanks for the pointer. The old rig will look amazing when your done.

Just FYI, i tried this on my white rv to strip the wax. The stripper worked great in a small test section. It removed the wax fast and left a clean surface. The problems started when i did a large section and/or let some of the yellow stripper run down on top of a cleaned section. It left the white RV noticeably stained and i couldnt remove the staining. That is untill i tried a common gel form of bleach: toilet bowl cleaner. Brushed on with an rv cleaning brush, let sit for 20 min, re brushed it, sit for 20, rebrushed, sit for 20 and then washed off really thoroughly until no sudsing was left. It brightened up the RV brighter than the day I bought it (used). It looks almost brand new now. Didnt damage the decals either. Wouldnt recommend doing this often but it may be a decent way to super clean in prep for long lasting acrylic rv producs.

Thanks, Andy!!! I can't wait to try it on our 2001 Montana fifth wheel. I will let you know how it turns out.

Cool. After I stripped all the wax off, I used Zep floor wax and applied about six coats, and that’s when the shine really came out. Not sure how old that video is without double checking, but I finally have to re-coat the wax this year. That’s how long it lasted!!

That's good to hear. I think the video was from 3 years ago. I tried the Zep and a buffer in an area last night after work. That spot looks and feels nice. Thanks, Andy!

Excellent. Just bought supplies and will start soon on my 2003 Tiffin Phaeton that I applied zep wax to 4 years ago. I will report back with time and results.

I LOVE Zep high-gloss floor polish!! I did a small section on my fifth wheel with it 2yrs ago, and after 19dg winters and 95dg summers, it hasn't flaked, peeled, etc. and STILL looks like I just put it on. Pollen, dirt, dust, etc. just blows right off.

Thanks for sharing bro. I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun and stars. From toilet bowl cleaners to expensive crap to cheap magic erasers. I hate people that take secrets with them to the grave.

That helps immensely, subscribed. I bought an old rig a few years ago used some Meguires oxidizer to remove that powdery white dullness. Worked ok. Takes a while to dial in new skills, but that my friend is very helpful. How did you get the decals off. Mine are not horrible but I may change them some day. Thanks again man, appreciate it and love the straightforward format, just you and a camera showing people how to get it done. What a cool time live in, blessings

@@masterdaveedwards hey, thanks for the comments. Well, those decals were old and they were a bugger to get off. Mainly I use the decal stripper from the hardware store. Let it sit and just worked at it with a plastic scraper so I didn’t scrape the gel coat. It took me about a week to get everything off of there working on it here and there. After i removed the old wax and yellowing, I had to go around the RV with the floor wax six applications before it gloss and shined. That shine lasted almost 3 years and now I just touch it up here and there when it gets dull. Good luck and have fun with it.

@@atlyvwire That’s brutal, but as with most things in this life, hard work and suffering usual result in rewards that instant gratification cannot produce.🍺

That's impressive! This time, I'm using Star brite Marine Polish after prepping. Spread it on and polish when dry. One coat! Quicker and easier than Zep that I applied two years ago, in 6-8 coats.
@atlyvwire4 жыл бұрын
I may try that Marine polish next time. It’s been exactly one year since I applied 6 coats of Zep polish and it’s still shines like the day I applied it. Good prep I guess makes it last a lot longer. I have to say, applying 6 coats around the RV was a little nauseating

I also would not recommend sanding the rv with a scotchbrite pad. It dulled my gellcoat and can damage the decals. I have to polish the sections intried that on now.

Hell yeah ! That's EXACTLY what I need to do ! Thanks brother !

It’s a lot of work but it’s worth it. Since I made that video 2 years ago I can tell you today my RV still looks the same. I’m not shitting you, it is just as shiny today as it was the day after I applied that wax. When I wash my rig I simply use a normal car wash liquid.

Sure made the job easier. I did apply six coats of the wax and it’s been exactly a year and it looks today like it was just put on. Because of the good prep, it’s not flaking or peeling. I get compliments all the time. However walking around and applying six coats to your RV that took a while!!! 😅

@@atlyvwire Hi Andy, This week I went all in and used Zep 50/50 stripper on my 17 year old coach. Then I applied 3 even coats of Zep wax and my coach looks unbelievably amazing. My motor home looks 10 years newer. I was on the fence with doing it, because there are lots of videos on you tube where people didn't get good results. Thanks for your video and the comment you sent me, because your information definitely helped me make the right decision.

How did u get the decals off??

I used STRP Max from crown. I picked it up at a paint store. Problem is all strippers are methylene chloride free so when you put that stripper on there it needs to sit at least 15 minutes till it bubbles up. That’s what I used for the thin baked on decals that were so thin a heat gun would not remove them. For the thicker ones I use the heat gun and patience

Check into a 3m eraser wheel for a grinder. Rubber wheel for decal removal without chemicals.
@safwsu6393 жыл бұрын
@@Gregasaki Me too. The eraser wheel was the answer used 8 of them. Arizona backed on decals. Zero damage to the sidewalls. No other way to remove the cracked and backed decals.

Zep works better diluted. They are not trying lower their profits by asking you to add water.

Goo Gone or WD40 would have saved from a sander and endless abrasive damage. Sray with Goo Gone with dish soap/water with a very soft cloth like microfiber When done spray wax and done. Very foolish to use an abrasive scrubber and insult to injury, using a sander.

Thanks for the comment. I finally had to re-wax this year since the making of the video. Sides are fine, no damage done. Maybe next time I'll use a cheese grader... HAHAHAAA just kidding. :)

This should solve my issue hopefully. Last week i used Zeps floor polish on my little camper, but apparently didnt clean surface good enough, as after 3 coats looked like dog shit. It was so streaky/pasty. Of course my Lowes only had a 5 gallon bucket of the stripper so i just tried ammonia and scrubbing power. It does take off the wax but is just too much scrubbing! Im going to try this exact method but hope it will not harm the vinyl.

I can’t remember, but I think it was about five coats I put on. Coats two and three it look like crap but once you get to the fifth coat, it really starts shining!!
