@Pikaru-c4u my fc bought a large house in ishgard, moving from a medium in the lavender beds, and honestly I miss the lavender beds more than I'm happy about the house. The ward is so cold stylistically and basically dead socially. At least the lavender beds were cozy. :(

This is probably a corporate problem not the dev team. Yoshi P can do a lot to off set some problems but when stockholders start throwing their weight around the players need to do the same and stop playing the game for a while. CEO's of companies have a fiduciary responsibility to the stockholders and can be forced to pay huge amounts of money if they are in violation of that. The best way is a mass unsubbing for about a quarter of the year and do not buy any of their games to drive the point home.

Burn down the House and Makeplace for example are 2 plugins that completely overhaul and improve the entire placing furniture thing, even loading and applying templates. The QoL plugin is, imo, essential to play FFXIV at a bearable level cause it adds info and things FFXIV should definitely have but does not.

Housing in FF is only a way to keep players subbed when they want to take a break. That’s it. They won’t fix it because it’s working as intended. Lord of the Rings Online has the EXACT same housing system, but new housing wards autogenerate when old wards fill. That game is free. The “but muh server space” excuse is 100% BS. It wouldn’t even be a drop in the bucket for them to make enough wards for everyone.

What I mostly dislike about M+ is link to the weekly vault and the gearing path for a character. From a raiding point of view, I don't want a weekly chore list with "do your memos, do your m+ for the vault, do this and that to have more chance at loot". But having new ways to play the game on a dungeon level, I think is good.

As a player on the Oceania / Materia DC, our queue times for roulettes is blowing out of proportion. Healer or Tank in need at 8pm on a Friday and Saturday night, can still wait up to 20+ minutes for a non-Mentor/Endgame roulette. Our PF has at most 20 parties on a Saturday night. It's depressing

I think the viera/hroth hat situation is emblematic for how pathetic of a state ffxiv is in. In the greater scheme of things, it is a miniscule non-issue, that any self-respecting devteam with a bit of pride would have fixed before shipping them. It's been 5 years. Just need a few hairstyle models when they're under hats, and let ears clip through the hats. This is not a ton of work. When Blood Elves, Goblins and Worgen were not ready for the 6.0 character model update in wow, they *did not ship them*. CBU3 instead says, here you go with the unfinished product, please look forward to new single character glamour outfits in the shop with hats you can't use. 10 bucks please.

I think it's also quite telling in their design philosophies. since instead of making Viera and Hrothgar future proof like the other races, they decided to make it the way it is today, where hair is tied to the head itself. and with Viera Yoshi also voiced concerns about how they had to alter Viera's feet, since lorewise, Viera wear high heels due to how their feet are structured, but in FF14 they got normal feet so they didn't need to re-do every piece of feet gear, but instead they also did this. i'm thankfully not a big hat guy, so my Viera is fine and the things I like are generally trinkets that work.

Having an independent instance server that serves all the datacenters of a region would prevent a DDoS that only targeted one DC from kicking you out of an instance when you're about to clear something, would greatly reduce DC crowding for running content, would open up PF to all DCs in a region and remove the need to worry about getting onto a more active server just to run anything. They already demonstrated the capability with cloud server just a matter of time.

I think the most wild thing is that Runescape has a better friends list system that allows you to do stuff like pm people while they/you are in an instance, and quickly look things up on it, and I am pretty sure Runescape's friends list has not been majorly changed at all since like... 2003.

About island sanctuary housing, its actually possible to implement without any additional stress to servers. Just save the house in client machine. Think about it, you cannot visit other players island when they aren't online anyway. so why not completely delegating the function of online house to clients?

Current state of ffxiv really bummed me out. A lot of problems that are in the game and I dont want to wait (in futility) for them to be fixed or forgotten about (Hats for viera has been teased for YEARS now). I went back to Guild Wars 2 and I gotta say, I don't think I'm going back. The open world is populated, old dlc is still "current" content with lots of players. But for me, the most important difference is that I am always fighting and playing my class, even when in the open world. The enemies in the open world can seriously mess you up if you don't play well. I even adjust my build from pure dmg to adding some movement debuff cleanses so I don't get caught by mobs in Heart of thorns. I use my healing abilities and buffs to keep myself alive in open world content; I use every move on my hotbar to fight random mobs and sometimes they still kill me. I did a hero point challenge today in heart of thorns that was a boss fight against a tough enemy, I died a lot but kept going and managed to beat him without changing my gear or build, I just "locked-in" and managed to beat the enemy. It's insane to think about, in ff my main complaint is I don't get to fight much outside of instance matchmade content. As someone who rarely raids what do I have to do? Roulettes? Dailies? Beast tribe quest are just me killing 1 mob in a single gcd unless I'm talking to npc #24. The main reason I played ff was because of job fantasy but I don't really play my job and everything is too safe. I bet if I had started this game during shadowbringers or endwalker instead of heavensward I wouldn't have made it through the msq and probably wouldn't comeback. The pre shadowbringers combat was addicting for me and with that gone my attention waned. Also, every class that I liked has been drastically changed since I started. I don't care if they are "optimal" now, I miss grease lightning and monk positionals, I miss kaiten on SAM, I miss old DRK, SMN, SCH, and AST, I miss spineshatter dive, I miss plunge, I miss when the game was fun to play and not just read.

I know a lot of people have been playing this game since the earliest of days. I myself started playing back in 2021, and I have ever since I could afford it, and since the 'updated' housing lottery came to, have been bidding on a M house every single rotation in order to get one. And only now, a couple of months ago, I got it, I finally got one. It was not my favored plot, but it is an M house. To get a small house is not a problem, they are in plenty and people barely bid on these, especially in the Goblet.

Problem is that SQE leaches 14’s income from subs/online store and spend it elsewhere, like mobile or other games that aren’t that populair. If feel they lack budget and are afraid to say so while their is actually tonnes of money. They just need to reinvested it in the game. The basic infrastructure of FFXIV is broken and they have done little in 10 years to fix it. Server lag, menus, messaging, things like not being able to add some features because of database size or server load. The spaghetti code excuse rings hollow when little has been done to improve the situation in a decade and 5 expansions.

That you cant simply farm transmog/glamour that doesnt fill up bag/chest space is absolutely insane. Thats a core pillar for modern MMOs and a reason why alot of people still casually play WoW. Not having that is is seriously hurting the game. One of the big reasons why I dont bother farming anything in FFXIV and ditch after my month of game time runs out. Just not worth my time. Progress not being Account wide is the next big fuck-up.

Square Enix really needs to look at their competition. See why people are leaving, why the sub numbers are going down. I remember when Yoshi P said that their devs play the game, they farm the tomestones. Do these other devs even play their game? Followed by a look and laughs. Now it feels the shoe is on the other foot. Are THEY playing their own game? Because they cannot be having fun. They cannot be enjoying making alts, farming everything again. They cannot think it's a good idea to have an annoying friend list or DC travel. No account wide. I played for 2 years after leaving WoW in SL from SHB to DT and quit as soon as I finished the story. Went back to Dragonflight and it felt like a breath of fresh air. Didn't have to recollect things. I could try on armor before hand. Look where it came from. Now Undermine is coming out and it looks...incredibly fun. I feel they told the devs "go crazy! It's goblins!" I'd love to see a dev from SE actually making a fresh toon...and leveling with a smile on their face. No skip. Nothing. And see how they feel.

Textures and graphics still looks 2 generations behind from what we have today. I remember games like Lightning retuns from ps3 have better in-game models than FF14.

Overall I don't think any of these will be fixed. I think during stormblood maybe heavenward. The company downsized to such a extreme that all they can do is the same thing over and over. They are trying to put as little money into the game as possible to maximize its return for as little commitment as possible from the company. I've been playing since a realm reborn, and have hoped on every expansion. Honestly the game still feels soooo similar to when it released, scratch that, even easier than before. This is just a very big generalization fyi. I know a lot of examples of where the company went above and beyond and made great stuff. But just feeling, I wish it evolved more and not devolved.

The issue with FFXIV is SE don't wanna to put more money into it. They don't expand their dev teams so we could get a wide variety of content, they don't have man power to review itemization, they can't review the old shit because they are locked in a really tight schedule. They had all the opportunities to make this game the dominant MMO when WoW was shitting itself and everyone laughing at it. im super beyond done with this trash ass game lately and i'm super glad to see that the sub numbers are back down to pre-SHB levels, they have LITERALLY pissed away 3 YEARS of hard work and good will building, they've certainly pissed away my good will =\ as a person with 32,000 hours according to steam and almost 500 days /playtime ingame after only playing since 5.1.... DT is DRIVEL and the fact i need plugins to do so much basic crap is INFURIATING, and now i have to wait a week or 2 for my plugins to be updated to have the game in a usable state again for a TRASH MINI PATCH WITH THE WORST ROLE QUESTS THEY'VE EVER RELEASED!

I feel like the dev team have become too rigid. They try as hard as they can to put everything into a blueprint. Even the main story seem to follow that path. Why do you have to stick to the dungeons and trials being on specific levels? Did you think for a minute that maybe the current story does not fit it? It honestly feels like they are trying to desperately repeat shadowbringers (even same plotpoints - example: building talos in SHB, building the starship in EW, making the train bomb in DT and many other similar) Im not that deep in raiding, crafting or pvp communities, but feedback from the one that i am very rooted in, being deep dungeon solo community, is largely ignored and we're given scraps. It has been almost a year from release of Eureka Orthos and run ending bugs still plague it. Mob hp not scaling properly to aetherpool has not been adressed at all (mobs in 1-30 have bigger relative hp pools than in 31-60). We still only get 2 save slots despite people having complained about it since forever. Farming potsherds (the tokens u exchange for potions) are just tedious to farm. And maybe the biggest elephant in the room, we have no disconnect protection (imagine disconnecting on last floor set of palace)

they will keep saying the housing is because of a technical limitation like they always do at this point i almost pray that 8.0 is worse than DT so they finally realise they are in trouble, but i feel that unless another 1.0 moment happens nothing will change because again everytime anything that Lama suggested in his video is brought up its always "oh its a technical limitation". but soon they wont have to do that excuse anymore cause of their new "employee protection against harrassment" where apparently asking for changes in the game is enouhg for them to completly ban you from buying/interacting with their products

I'm not sure if anyone would agree but I'd like to see more done with Free Companies and Retainers. Such cool aspects of the game but they really don't serve a purpose. After level 20 in a FC there isn't any reason to get to 30 no added benefits really. And you are limited on what kind of ventures your retainers can do. I'd like to see 8, 18 and 24 hour ventures where you can send them out Hunting or Gathering, 1 hour ventures usually, and get back the item amount times how many hours you sent them out. For ventures you can pay the same amount you'd pay for a single venture. So it'd be like sending out your retainer for 8 single hour ventures but it's 8 hours. Just some thoughts of someone who has to do retainers a lot becaus I do the Hunting/Gathering ventures.

M+ in WoW actually pisses me off, because it's not even learning how to beat the enemies with more and more complicated mechanics and how to sync with your teammates. It never has been. It has always been a 'does everyone have all of the addons that will scream at them whenever something important happens' drill that'd inevitably leave people anxious and frustrated. On top of that the devs unfortunately jumped onto that insane bandwagon, and for a few expansions now have been making the mechanics and encounters with the addons in mind. Doing M+ without an entire book of meta addons tailored specifically to deal with all of the debuffs, markers, positionals, telemarks, kickables etc, is pretty much impossible for people that are only just starting their journey with the game.

What bullshit. I do keys at around +12 with minimal addons. Yeah stuff like weakauras help you track important info that may be necessary for the top level keys, but to think you need a world first raider caliber interface for casual play is just stupid.

I merely stated that the difficulty of M+ is not made with players in mind, but with modders. I doubt you'd be able to push TWW +12 as a begginer/casual player with minimal mods, let alone with no mods whatsoever. And that if you even find/manage to form a party. Kudos for that calssic reductio ad absurdum though, well done. ;P

I was on Cerberus (Chaos DC) for most of my accounts lifetime. I world transferred to Zodiark (Light DC) because whenever I was raiding on Light (because Chaos PF is dead) I had no access to FC buffs or my retainers, or if i'm waiting for PFs to fill (because yay, ultimate PF can take hours) I would do some gathering, but I can't because the nodes aren't available to people who are travelers. Joined the FC of a static member and now got the submarines setup, so making passive cash as well through that constantly, it just baffles me how this isn't a feature yet. Chaotic isn't "hard" from a mechanic standpoint, honestly from a mechanic standpoint it's on par with Extremes, most of them are stupidly easy, the real difficulity comes from having a 24 man body check and atleast 3-4 per alliance having issues standing in their god damned towers. i'd put it inbetween extreme and savage personally, mechanically on Extreme, while putting the rest on 1st or 2nd floor savage level.

Something that feels very obvious is from Square enix's budgeting is they are only interested in enticing new players - don't care too much about retaining the old ones. UI updates, fixing spaghetti code - isn't going to excite someone who's never touched the game as they won't understand how desperately its needed. However first thing potential new players see is "oh the graphics look dated" "oh i want new job thatll interest me' "new races" etc. Once they have your money, and have you invested in the game, they know you'll cough up your sub fee to keep playing, especially if you want to keep your house. Which is why we will never see instanced housing. Or accountwide mogstation features because again - why would they put time and resources into things that might lose them money. My only hope is that player approval rating for XIV seems at a all time low since ARR's launch so, maybe sub counts numbers dropping significantly might make them wake up a bit.

I think Mythic+ is a fine idea but I'm not sure how much it fixes the difficulty curve of Final Fantasy XIV. I really just think story dungeons should get progressively harder and demand skill increases, I don't see what's wrong with that. Being challenged the further you go is natural for any game...other than FFXIV. Nothing wrong with Mythic+ on top of that and I welcome the options! But I don't think it fixes the problem alone.

m+ wouldnt mesh well with ffxivs combat design imo. with how samey every job plays it would be very difficult to replicate the system and have it feel good. the reason why it works in wow is because every single spec plays completely different to anything else and each spec has its own strengths and weaknesses. in ffxiv job balance is significantly better, but only because the design is way more rigid. it would also need a way to be consistently rewarding which the game is just not equipped to do.

Players have to mod the things they want into the game and then stop asking for it. It's not players begging that gets the devs to move, it's when the devs begin to think players have mostly stopped caring. When players stop caring, it could mean that they're about to stop paying to play the game and that's what lights a fire under the devs: the fear of making less money. Probably. I say this every time I respond to a video that talks about FFXIV Housing: "Copy Wildstar's housing." Players get a free, instanced housing plot after a very short quest they can grab immediately upon entering the first major city. It takes like 2-5 minutes. In the housing instance, they can move all housing items on an X, Y and Z axis and shrink or enlarge every item individually. They can use prebuilt houses or build their own using housing items like Walls, parts of space ships and whatever else they have. Some people built multi story castles that take up more space than an entire Housing Ward in FFXIV. Some built mazes. I found several jungle adventures or giant tiki roasts. You can also put down functional gathering nodes and harvest a ton of mats from your housing instance or I believe you could let visitors gather in it, too. Personally, I built a huge Gravity Falls inspired housing instance with a scary maze, a bunch of crashed alien ships and a dingy "Mystery Shack" using a shack and a some trees. I had a giant tree monster I made with some Halloween items. There was a bunch of debris floating around it players could use to Platform / Jump Puzzle to get on top of it to "attack the weak spot".

I would like it if they fixed the buggy skip system. If I do a level skip it skips you to level, gives you all the flight points, gives you access to some instances. But it dosnt remove ANY of the blue quests from the world. My world is flooded with blue quests that technically don't unlock anything for me because I did a level skip and already unlocked the reward....its kind of infuriating.

Oh bro I would be _so_ damn happy if stuff tracked across my entire account. If collectible stuff/pvp junk/and achievement progress synched, I'd be so much more interested in everything if all of it counted for every character. And speaking of the shop, I'd also be much more inclined to buy cosmetics if they were account wide. I still think they're a scam on price alone, but I could see it being slightly more worth it if all my characters got it.

Content you can do when you don’t feel like raiding….. it should be released every content patch! This is why this games downward slope will become steeper and steeper. A year of expansion so far and the only thing we’ve gotten is 1 room 1 boss fights. Same old shit. Raids should be released at the same rate, not asking for a slower release on these but, all the other content needing a years buffer is effing insane and a super bad business practice. It’s already noticeable with the incline in loss of players at the junction.

How about - remove all stats (and glamour restrictions) from all gear except weapons. Maybe only keep the character level requirement...if they need to... This way your level and the ilvl of your weapon are still giving you a sense of progress and upping your power. But for the rest of it you can decide what you want to wear, what you look like with no restrictions.
