Episode 3 of the series. A detailed music production and songwriting analysis of all 3 songs recorded at Olympic Studios on September 27th and 28th, 1968. You'll get historic references and sound clips that explains the music that inspired Led Zeppelin on tape. The making of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, You Shook Me and a rare instrumental jam that sheds light into what a song from the album could have been. This is a MUST for all Zepp fans and classic rock scholars. #ledzeppelin #jimmypage #robertplant #johnpauljones #johnbonham #documentary #recordingstudio

I saw them at the May 27, 1969 show at the Boston Tea Party. It's capacity was 400 people. We sat on the floor hippie style about 30 ft. from the stage. Awesome show. They were hot and they knew it. They played the whole first album and one new song i didn't recognize. My friend had called me in the afternoon when he woke up to tell me Zep was playing and we had to go. We hitch-hiked to Boston from E. Providence, RI without even knowing where the Tea Party was. Fortunately some head in a Lincoln picked us up, got us totally stoned, and drove us near there and gave us directions. We got tickets at the door for about 5 bucks. We had to hitch-hike home after midnight on 95 but we were ecstatic, and amazed that the whole crazy adventure had worked out beautifully.

I will for sure. They announced a late February screening date and the best, rumour has it, there are no Meat Loaf cameos on the film.

Jose, Becoming Zeppelin was awesome its made for us Die Hards... But a few new things great sound and new concert footage. All in All it lived up to the hype somewhat, but it ended in January of 70 we need more the most popular years of Zep. Wish you were given a couple of Million to make act 2 there has to be another one. Your docs on Led Zeppelin imo qualify you for the job. Can't wait for this episode.... Rock on Jose✌🏼👏🏼🤘🏼

Brilliant research and presentation once again. Thank you. When I discovered the band and very quickly became a massive Zephead as a 14/15 year-old in the late 1970s, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You was one of the tracks that blew my mind. Still sounds incredible more than 55 years later.

I can’t get enough of this! It was Page’s playing that made me buy my first cheap Pawn Shop guitar at 16. I learned to play Zeppelin riffs before even learning the basics. 27 years later I still play those songs, and love these deep dives into the history of the band that made me a lifelong lover of the music that came before my time. Home run of a video!

My Uncle Smokey got me LZ1 for my 15th Birthday 2/69 and it just blew me away - He knew I loved Cream, Hendrix, Traffic, The Beatles, The Yardbirds but this had to be the LOUDEST record I ever heard! I couldn't get enough of Led Zeppelin and I'm still amazed at what they accomplished from 1969-1980 - Your analysis of the songs, the intricate details of the recording, your highlight on Olympic Studios and Glyn Johns just magnificent production and research - Bravo!🇬🇧🥁🎹🎤👍🎸🔥❤

Just got home from watching Becoming LED Zeppelin at the old Montreal Forum IMAX theater with my son. Although most of the material footage (Scandinavian tour, Tous en Scène, Royal Albert Hall) is stuff that I was familiar with. It was the first time I saw some footage from San Francisco Fillmore. Also as most fan we have heard the story from Page's viewpoint, the anecdotes from the others were really interesting. It was also the first time I heard Bonham's take in his own words.

Hey Jose. I saw the film today, and I have to say I was 50/50 about it. It was good to hear Bonham’s interview snippets and the current day reactions of the guys to historic clips from 68/69, but I’d seen most of those from your productions and KZbin. Sure, there was new video of concerts and they were of course able to play the entire tracks, but they also mixed video onto unrelated audio which was disappointing. Honestly, for a real fan, this JCM episode mentioned many items of interest they touched on in a way that makes more sense. Overall, I give it a lazy 7. They need to ask you for some tips.

When Simon Napier Bell managed the Yardbirds, the group saw very little money from their touring. But, when Grant took control of managing the group, the members made money. (Before Grant became the manager, Bell suggested to him that he fire Jimmy Page for being a so-called trouble maker.)

Not sure what Jimmy is doing playing a pedal steel standing up, meaning he’s really only using it as a slide guitar, as there is no way he would be able to control the knee levers. I doubt anything he ever played on one ever amounted to much, bit of a gimmick I reckon. He probably would’ve been better off with a lap steel.
