Sweeeeeet!!! Another fantastic hike! Breathtaking views from your drone.. makes me wish I could fly. But alas, I will settle for following your tracks in the snow.

I have to add Honey Comb to my list. I haven't hiked over there, just the trails off Liesles Gulch. I do know there are two more homes to the north of that one in your video. There are also some abandoned pioneer cabins. I have a few of them marked on Gaia. The shots in this video are fantastic. I haven't done any camera work in two years since Covid. This makes me want to get back out and do stuff. Great video. Great inspiration. I'm thinking the Painted Canyon Loop though might be the perfect spot to take the truck and setup the RTT and do a day trip with the kiddo. Solid 9 miles round trip. Keep them coming!

Thanks! I went through the painted canyon, I wonder how you make that 9 miles? Cheers ✌

Nice video. I love the Owyhee's and venture out there frequently on the Idaho side, Reynold's Creek Canyon, Toy Pass, Silver City, Little Jack's/Big Jack's Creek areas. Still more to explore. The best part is nobody goes out there. Now I'm interested in exploring the Jarbridge Mountains at the Idaho/Nevada border where the Owyhee's end. Just subscribed.

Grats on another epic adventure. The narrative of finding ones edge as we look inside ourselves, love it love it love it. I call this the good pain or buzz, when hiking solo. Once again, thanks for sharing and taking us along. That area is so wide open and 99.9% never see it first person.

A little bit late here but I'm really digging your channel man. I really appreciate you sharing some of trips you take in these big open canyon lands. I watched a few of your videos in Hell's Canyon and Craters of The Moon great stuff. I find myself exploring areas like this just to avoid people and heavily used trails and it looks like you enjoy the same kind of thing. Looking forward to content!

You are a brave man doing that alone, especially in the winter. So, every time I think I’m cold in my 20 degree bag, sleeping on a nice pad, inside my tent I always think of some cowboy or John Muir himself sleeping on the ground with a wool blanket. I seriously don’t know how they did it back then. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Great video Jon. I love that hike. One of my favorites. Glad to see there are a few California bighorns left out there. They had a had winter in 2016 followed by epizootic pneumonia that reduced the population by 90%. Did you see any deer? Love the drone footage too!! Good job man.
@JonConti2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. No deer. No signs of deer even. I’m no expert but I’m gettin better with tracks and scat and realized half way through I wasn’t seeing deer sign. Coyotes the whole way and the rams and that’s all I saw with 4 legs

I know the people who own that cabin, and yes, they do use it. I’d venture to say they wouldn’t be thrilled to know someone opened their closed gate to go walk around and film it.. but maybe not. Cool video nonetheless.
@JonConti2 жыл бұрын
I took good care of it :) Many areas have cabins like that that the forest service preserves and people can use. No lock on the gate. No sign that it was private property. No keep out sign. Could've been abandoned. Could've been a historical sight. Zero signs it's private property.

Outstanding video Jon. When I first started hiking the Owyhees, I couldn't believe how much some of the geography seems like you've been dropped in southern Utah. Bighorn sheep are incredible, huh? See them pretty regularly in the White Clouds. Given that the White Clouds also have first rate fishing, you should add them to your list, if not there already. Great outro as well. In the words of Emerson, 'the journey is the destination'. Cheers, Chris

@@JonConti I also use those hand warmers to keep my batteries and other electronics warm. Put the warmers in a sock or some sort of cloth bag and then drop everything in one of those food cozies. Keeps them warm all night, and you don't have to sleep with them in you bag. Shameless plug for my video----> kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5fWYXangs-DiLM

Awesome content as always. This place has been on the list! What's with the bear spray? Have there been reports of cougars here? -25 degrees is serious business. That kinda temp requires a hot tent and stove in my mind.

I just always carry bear spray 🤷♂️ you never know. Maybe you gotta chase off some coyotes or something
@adriennefloreen2 жыл бұрын
That house looked definitely lived in, I wonder who owns it. You should have left them a note, and asked to interview them. Some people got plots in what are now national parks from old mining claims and stuff, so every so often you do see something like that. I wonder if they live off the land, hunting and fishing, and if it's a hermit or a group of people.
