Zermatt Höhbalmen Loop Trail (Edelweissweg) in Switzerland

Hikers on this trail experience a magical moment on the climb up to Trift as the pinnacle of the Matterhorn emerges unexpectedly from behind a hilltop. Who’ll spot it first? The path then continues to one of Zermatt’s finest viewpoints, at Höhbalmen. The panorama is breathtaking: the north face of the Matterhorn with the Zmuttgrat ridge, the Breithorn, Liskamm and the Monte Rosa massif. September 2022.

What a fantastic video!Congratulations! I should be there next month and this is one of the last paths that I did not yet made in this region. Do you remember in how many hours you complete the entire loop? Starting at what time from Zermatt? Do you know if it’s possible to extend this loop until the schöenbielhütte and still arriving back in Zermatt not too late at night? Thank you!

A description of the route (excluding Schoenbielhut) can be found here: www.zermatt.ch/Media/Wanderungen-Touren-finden/Edelweissweg-Hoehbalmen-Nr.-30 You could use Komoot or other app to get an indication how long the total route would be with Schoenbielhut included, definitely a very long route , maybe too long.
