I like the monthly budget in theory, but we get paid twice a month so I budget specific bills for one paycheck or another and just divide things like gas and groceries between the two checks. I enjoy your videos!

Thanks so much. I totally understand the struggle - we haven't always been on a monthly salary paycheck. I liked to keep a buffer in the checking account and still budget by month. But, if you don't like that - Debt Free Mom has a budget template she uses you can tweak for your pay period.

@@BrittanyFlammer Thank you for pointing me to Debt Free Mom - I had never heard of her! Now I understand that I use an allocated spending plan instead of the more common monthly budget. I feel seen! :-)

Thank you for the feedback!! I've started using a video editor and had them lower it some, but I will make sure they lower it more for future videos!

@@BrittanyFlammer I think it needs to be waaayyyy more quieter - at the moment it takes too much away from your video. It's easier for me to just mute your video and have captions on.

@@PaulSmith-fx8jb Thanks. I've asked the editors to lower it or delete it for future.

Just found your channel and love it Brittany. I am thinking about grabbing your bundle package and have been trying EveryDollar but it does not seem to be able to show me an entire year spend. The thought of using that and then your spreadsheet to track seems like a lot. What process do you use for adding transactions each month to total your sheet. Any Suggestions? Appreciate the content.

Yes - Everydollar is fairly limited with its reports. For myself using a spreadsheet, at the bottom of my budget, I have a section for tracking spending. I can't show you a screenshot here in KZbin, but I enter my purchases and it tells me how much I have left in that category. Personally, I spend about 5 minutes at the end of the week making sure I've gotten everything. It can be tedious, but 5 minutes a week works for me. If you're wanting an app with good reports and great automation, Monarch Money is my favorite. BUT it's not free.

@@BrittanyFlammer is there a way to keep a copy of the monthly budget for the year. Like to look back say 3 months ago but don't see a way to do that. Just save as different tab and then restart month? Historical info is good for me

I also like your videos and monthly spreadsheet but I am having trouble adjusting it because we get paid 2x per month. Is there a good way to go about this?
@BrittanyFlammerКүн бұрын
When we were paid twice a month I still liked to use the monthly budget because most of our expenses were monthly. I just put a buffer into our checking account so I didn't have to worry about the day of each payment. If that's not an option, you could take the monthly budget and copy the top half and use the first half for your first paycheck expenses and the second copy as your 2nd paycheck of the month. Or - the Debt Free Mom has a spreadsheet that is by pay period you could try out.

Ouch!! That hurts. We do have solar panels, but there are a lot of little things that can be done to help: led lightbulbs, turning the heat way down, ac way up, lights off, etc… it’s a small difference, but helps.
