long time auto mechanic and cyclist.....the "high end" products sold for cyclists is a waste money. The power, torque and heat generated by a bicycle is minimal. Decent lubricant and greases are all that is required. I laugh at Zero Friction and Hambini going on about this.... Hambini the "bearing guru" and the way he installs some bearings has me cringing. Hammering and awkward pressing...ugh. And the "reaming" Hambini and Mapdec do whilst the frame is hanging from a stand....no zero reference, no mounting on a flat surface....they just enlarge the faulty orifice.... only cyclists are gullible enough to believe them and buy their products...

@JoeyMills You’re right. The power generated by a human (not the bicycle) is minimal. Bingo, you need the lowest friction lubricant available. How waxes are vastly superior to any oil lube. You would know this if you had used them. No wet lube or cold wax fills the void between the pin and rollers. It’s also a piece of piss to hot wax a chain. Get a used slow cooker off marketplace and you’re done. Oh and here’s the real kicker, you never have to degrease/clean the chain again because the wax doesn’t pick up any crap.

5:20 No way. As someone who works in a bike shop and buys direct there is no way he’s getting this stuff for 50% off. Like my discount on buying shimano stuff for example is %10. Yeah, that’s it. Even if you are the distributor you will be getting maximum 40% and that’s before adding your delivery costs and import duties. You are lucky to get 30%. Most likely less. So it’s $95 for the chain, $60 for the fancy wax. No idea his mark up on that but he is not over charging according to your video. And after all that he’s only charging $30 for the time he takes to clean the chain, wax it, and re pack everything. (Also any cleaning chemicals he uses and his electricity costs, I hear they have gone up a lot in OZ recently owning to some insane green policies) So I’m not seeing an issue here? I think it’s a fair price for what it is. It’s a pointless waste of money in my opinion, but if you want that extra 5W and you don’t have the time to do it yourself, an you happen to be a top level Triathlete or something then it makes sense. 🤷🏻♂️

I will make a video of my trade account to prove that 50% is achievable. Also 50% discounts can be found online without even the likes of Wiggle crc not being around and I will prove this also. I did say that wax price for Silca are the same as the Silca website so fair play to him he isn't fleecing here, but everything else is a con. Labour for $90 AUs to dip a chain is a disgrace. He is ripping people off. Its complete BS.... The YBN Chain basic 10 speed chain that retails for €30 I can get openly online as a customer not trade for £13 or €15. I will happily make a video showing the mark up achievable for chains and also lubes to prove what's being said. I think the main takeaway is that even if we dislike someone it should not shroud the actual issue they raise, and no matter what we think of Hambini & Durian Rider they are right that Adam is 🤥 through his teeth about the results and this testing. Also the claim over and over that he is the most referenced independent source for chain testing data is absolutely BS. I will happily prove that YBN, SRAM etc have conducted way more test data available for everyone. We can't check it's true as we can't with Adam so god knows why you or others believe this guy as an honest victim?? But may be your beef with Scambini has clouded your judgement????

Any evidence at all? Because without it, I don't believe he is. There are so many ways this guy could be scamming, & as his chain wear data has been proven fraudulent (which is a criminal act btw) it is safe to assume he is employing them all. Scratch the surface with this guy & it all falls apart, he is basically running a criminal enterprise.

So I read the hambini post on zero friction & it is utterly devastating. The man is finished. In the last part he critiques Adam's ability to measure chain stretch to the accuracy he claims & correctly points out it is physically impossible using the instruments shown. Therefore ALL zero friction data on lubricant is proven to be fraudulent. Adam has since posted over 3 hours of rebuttal videos on the post, but has not yet addressed the matter of measurement. Personally I don't believe he can & retain any credibility, but we will see.

@@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST I have no opinion on hambini & skated through the parts of his post on ceramic bearings. They may be incorrect, I do not care. The parts on Adam's measurement methodology, however, are absolutely correct. Adam claims to be able to measure chain wear to an accuracy the instruments he uses are physically incapable of, which is outright fraud. Not debatable. Read for yourself: "Kerin claims that his testing can detect a measurable difference of 0.3% of 0.64 mm - equating to 0.0019 mm (2 microns). However, these results are 50 times more precise than the stated accuracy of his uncertified and uncalibrated measuring equipment, which has a tolerance of +/-0.05 mm. Even a Mitutoyo caliper, the benchmark in industry, has a certified accuracy of +/-0.02 mm, which is still far less precise than the accuracy Kerin is asserting. This does not take into account the level of user error associated with such devices either. When extrapolated over a full chain length of 116 links (approximately 1.47 meters), he asserts that his setup can detect a variance of just 0.22mm (the thickness of 2 sheets of paper) on a chain that is inherently flexible. To put this into context, Kerin is claiming his measuring equipment can detect the presence of a single rod of E-coli bacteria (2 microns) on the bike chain over 10 links". As I pointed out, again correctly, this is illegal according to Australian law.
@JoeyMills-y3v3 ай бұрын
@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST Oh & BTW I'd already run through Adam's measurement numbers myself & noted that he claims to be able to measure the difference between 5.3% & 5.4% of Adam's 0.64 mm standard for wear. This 0.1% difference equates to 0.073 mm over the full length of a 12 speed chain, so hambini was being generous with his numbers by only using 0.3% (he probably did it for the sake of simplicity, as even 0.3% is clearly impossible for Adam to measure accurately) Hambini also did not point out that Adam also admits on video that his KMC digital caliper is not accurate enough for precise measurements, then states he uses a non calibrated shimano chain stretch measurement device instead, then checks the accuracy of the non calibrated shimano device using the same KMC digital caliper he admitted was not accurate enough 10 minutes before. This is sheer lunacy, massive & obvious fraud that a high school kid could spot a mile away using elementary math & a simple Google search. Adam might as well say he uses witchcraft for his measurements, it would be as believable 😂
