Believe me, I know what I'm talking about, in some cultures, no matter how old you are, even if you're 100, there's no such a thing as "dating" or "living together" . You meet someone to get married. There's no negotiating or arguing with family, whoever does not belong to this culture has to accept it. Your partner will never stand up for himself, never stick up for you. Their family and traditions come first. It's either take it or leave it. Whoever says otherwise is an exception. I am a Western who has been living in the Middle East for a long time and have had relationships with men from this part of the world. No matter how nice, educated, enlightened, secular they are, they are not going against their family because of you.

They feel more than anyone. There’s attachment. It’s called avoidant attachment, they just get anxious and avoid. Doesn’t mean they’re not attached. Give it more time if needed and if it feels too long say a year, you can always reach out. I don’t think you have to do nc forever.

S K it sounds like they had shut down. For them to say “maybe the spark will come back”, sounds to me more like “maybe I’ll reconnect with my emotions again”. If the spark was fully gone, you don’t say to someone maybe it’ll come back sometime later, because you know you’re done. I think their response of wanting to reconnect on healthier circumstances is a really great reply actually. It means they’re open to reconnecting. They are also looking at what’s healthy and what’s not. That’s a good sign of change in them. I don’t know how long you’ve done no contact for, but take the time to work at childhood attachment issues and all the problems you contributed to the relationship. Focus on those for now. That way when they reach out or you reach out down the road, you’ll be super confident and secure and you can regain attraction. I think judging by the way you interpreted their responses, you may have some work still to do. That’s not a judgment, but I think the more you dig into the problems of the relationship, you’ll be able to read between the lines of an avoidant attachment and will be able to help bring them to a more secure place too. There’s great books to read on these topics such as “Wired for Love” by Stan Tatkin, most of Stan’s work is actually great and I highly recommend, “Love Sense” by Sue Johnson, “Attached” by Amir Levine is okay, but to me it’s over simplified and underdeveloped in attachment theory, but it does break down attachment theory at a basic level and can be helpful when first trying to understand the language of each attachment type which might be good in this case.

S K I’m sorry to hear about you losing your two friends. That’s really tough and a lot of loss to go through. Great to hear you are in therapy, it’s good that you are taking care of yourself. We have to go into situations not assuming the worst about people. It’s tough to do when we’re deeply emotionally connected to them and expect them to be in a place where we need them to be, but we have to remember that we’re no longer dating them. So you kinda made an assumption that they intentionally had you blocked still after seeing them in the deli. Possibly this is true, but you don’t know that. They could have had you blocked and then saw you later at the deli, meant what they said, forgot that they had you blocked and then received an email from you saying you guys are no longer friends. I mean if I were your ex and this scenario was correct, I wouldn’t respond back either because you didn’t give them the benefit of the doubt. Now, I’m not saying they weren’t for sure being transparent with you at the deli. Maybe they weren’t. Either way, it’s probably best for you to take some time away from them as you said. Do the work and experience your emotions. Get back to a good groove and then you’ll be in a place where you can conduct yourself with insight.

S K you’re right, I can’t answer that for sure. What I do know about avoidants though is that they feel the most out of all the attachment styles. They have really big hearts. They’re just hidden. They get overwhelmed easily by emotion and know that they need to shut off in order to survive (or so they think). So 100% they think about you. Have full confidence in that. I dated someone for three months in my early twenties and it took both of us years to no longer have strong feeling for each other. I’m currently out of a six year relationship, so it’s a little different, but he’s definitely an avoidant attachment type. I really wish I knew all this information when we’re dating, but I didn’t, so there’s no point in being disappointed about it. When we allow ourselves to worry over if we meant anything, we draw ourselves into an anxious attachment and feed our little anxiety monsters. The point is to no longer feed it. You meant something to them. They still think about you. You have great value. Repeat that anytime your worry starts to creep in. The more you work on yourself and take care of yourself the more you’re going to be attractive not just to your ex, but to anyone.

I’ve had a hell of a time. Talked to my counselor yesterday and broke down. I beat myself up with how I mistreated my ex. On top of my tremendous guilt I also had a profound bond with her 4 year old. I’m an emotional wreck and can’t seem to get past this. It’s been 8 months since our breakup. I want to be able to move on but just went through a breakup and custody battle.The courts gave us joint custody of our 18 month old son Myles, I am also pregnant. He took the furniture in the house, tryed taking my son from me, literally everything. I learnt yesterday that my ex who has been talking to her LDR who she left me for in May is going to visit him this week in India for 24 days. I think It's absolutely crazy that it is actually happening! Going across the worlld to meet someone essentially she doesn't know... I do admit I didn't sleep well last night but I don't feel too upset about it, more thinking this is so dangerous and a stupid thing that she is doing. We were in a LDR and she never came to visit me and we are in the same country! Anyway that's enough of my ranting! LOL It's good to get that off my chest. It's a projection of what you feel what love should be in a "real" sense okay? I spent too long being annoyed and upset and frustrated with the situation instead of realising that I'm so much better than all that! Find your inner happiness. If you have inner happiness you project it to others around you in real life. That’s what real love and affection is. People will be drawn to you and someday you’ll know what real love is and should be. Not looking through a screen. Switch your mindset and go out there and walk and talk with confidence because you create your own self love and happiness.

9 weeks really is nothing after such a long relationship. he will not just forget you, he never will, but depending on what happened it may take many months for you to have a chance again, or even longer. i am in no contact with my ex for 15 months now after a 3 year relationship. shortly after the breakup the only thing i wanted was to get back with her, but i then realized it would never have worked, because nobody of us had changed, so we would have returned to the old, already failed relationship. you have to realize your old realtionship is dead and it will never return, but there maybe is a chance for a new one in the future, but this will take time. time apart.

Remember self-compassion. Excellent point. It alost makes it to where you don't want to risk bothering getting emotionally tied. Seems as soon as they know you are happy and invest your spirit, they think they can take advantage and you just better deal with it. Fellas, my best guess is to take due caution in letting the gal know how deeply you feel. Both sides of the relationship though should have a rederence point for fairness. Boom ! This was a toxic relationship & the individuals were not ready for a relationship, or even a marriage. She had trauma she hasn't healed with the cutting, the manipulation & control issues, then she can't make her own decisions. I learned that an individual who can't make up their own mind can easily be manipulated. It is okay to get advice, but the final decision comes down to you. If he had to live in the shadows, it shows shame. Who would want to live like that? Then she didn't include him or see if they can figure things out together. She also said she doesn't see a future with him? That is the final answer. Yet, she keeps trying to get him back? She has major self worth issues and she shows it with what she states that she does. Then also including the begging & pleading..that relationship was so toxic and they needed to work on on themselves first before getting too serious in the relationship. This is why I work on myself first. Dating or starting a relationship is fine, but I will not think about getting married til I have myself settled first. Marriage is long term & commitment isn't easy. Many don't understand how blending into another person's life isn't easy.

I know what she liked about him... she was experiencing a totally different flavor than the experience of her toxic manipulative invasive and controlling immature family and culture. I know because I have been the person on the other side of that coin in a similar situation, not once, not twice, but I can write a book about it. filipinas, Chinese from the north, from Canton.. Muslims, Hindi Indian, Latina... I really think that you are still in the state of limerence which explains why you still want him back after dating for only a month or so. What I would recommend is to really work on yourself and try to move on. Im not saying he is going to forget about you but It'll take some time for him to look back and think of getting back with you. But don't trust my word, that's just my opinion. Martyna K Hey, there...try not to panic, first of all. If you feel you love him too much to let go, then he may feel the same. Even though you made mistakes and even though you said good-bye forever. Hopefully your mistakes were just that- little mistakes that will lose their impact in time. I don’t think you should panic but since you made mistakes and sent that text, then I think it would be wise to give yourselves some time apart. Take time for you and allow him to feel your absence. Read, exercise, schedule time out with friends and maybe get counseling to help you process your feelings and possibly explore if you have anxious attachment style that caused you to feel insecure and needy. Some partners truly are neglectful and others we perceive as such bc we expect them to fill voids in our hearts. I see no harm in reaching out to him after some time has passed. Just do the work first that caused the break....and don’t settle for friendship if that’s not what you want. He hasn’t forgotten about you any more than you’ve forgotten about him! Stay strong 💗

Martyna K In answer to your question, I don’t believe there is any set number for an official “no contact” period. There’s no magic to no contact and I don’t think using it as a ploy or strategy to get an ex back has any true power. If going no contact serves to raise anxiety in your partner and that anxiety causes them to reach out, then the reconciliation will be short lived as other tiggers surface and cause another rupture. That being said, I think time apart can be a valuable time to reflect and focus on your individual growth. The time apart will also give you both time to cool off from any hot flashes of regrettable moments from any mounting tension. Your relationship was relatively short- 4 months, so I wouldn’t think too much time apart is needed; however, you would be the best judge of your readiness. Reach out after focusing on what went wrong in your relationship and after owning your part and recognizing what you need to do differently. Do the inner work- after doing the inner work and feeling strong and secure enough that you won’t be emotionally reactive to any of your ex’s possible responses or lack thereof, then reach out. Use this time for a time of healing. If it helps your mind rest, then choose a number for a time out and then focus on you.

You know what I always love your videos and of course I’m dealing with an ex and no contact I took in place:) but I wonder what he means saying to my son( they have contact) that he loves my son and towards me he says like he has feelings or loves me yet...which means for me ok I got feelings now but next month I won’t have any??🤨😳😳😳you can’t get out of love within few months any ideas why he says that????

Kayla Brown love is not a light switch you can just turn off. Eventually the love will fade away as people move on but currently he still thinks and loves you. Stay strong. Sometimes the our ex is worse off then us but they just don’t know about this channel

Bumper Brian it’s just not on..of course you can’t switch your heart off and don’t feel nothing and for love to fade away can take long time...we’ve been 9y together so you can imagine..yes true they don’t know about this channel that’s why I went no contact with him..but instead of missing me or doing something I know from my son that he said eg.there is no point to coming to my house(he comes only to take his dog to vet or bring him food and im not at home when he comes)that I’ve blocked him everywhere(only on FB)so I think he’s pulling away instead coming towards me..seems like nothing is working with him,when we had contact..no actions..no contact..the same story even worst ...😳😳😳
