Have you even ever investigated a human digestive system - it is extremely acidic. To digest Fiber you would need a less acidic environment because it's bacteria that actually digest the cellulose of plants and that's why herbivores don't have acidic stomach chambers. You are just parading vegan ignorance here with your comment?

Rabbits stomach pH is -2. If stomach acid is the reason to be a carnivore, they should be even more meat eaters than us.
@flattlandermontgomery152424 минут бұрын
The reason why low ph stomach acid in humans (and rabbits apparently) is that we produce way less than lions do. Lions can digest bones. We can digest bone a little bit, but not to the extent of lions, and will probably perforate our intestines. Also lions can break the bones of small animals with their teeth.
@billyruffian14264 минут бұрын
Rabbits commonly engage in coprophagy - eating their own excrement. Humans don't. Rabbits are hind-gut fermenters, and have a (large) caecum. Humans are not, and don't. Humans evolved to be carnivores. Rabbits did not.

My daughter’s new partner is on the carnivore diet. Well, he has lapsed for a few weeks but is planning to go back on it. He said that he lost nearly 20 kilos when he was on it. For sure he needs to lose at least another 20 kilos but I do worry for him. I am totally banned from saying anything by my daughter as, sadly, she is anti-vegan for some reason though has no interest in the carnivore diet. She has significantly increased her meat intake though since she started this relationship. I should add that he’s a thoroughly likeable guy and they are great together. I just feel he has got some bad information from somewhere. Loads of young men here are on this carnivore diet. Sadly I don’t know any other vegans.

Assessing the Nutrient Composition of a Carnivore Diet: A Case Study Model, 2025 DOI: 10.3390/nu17010140 "However, it fell short in thiamin, magnesium, calcium, and Vitamin C, and in iron, folate, iodine and potassium in some cases. Fibre intake was significantly below recommended levels'
@billyruffian142630 минут бұрын
That study is completely worthless. Recommended daily amounts don't apply here. Take vitamin C, for example: on the carnivore diet the requirement for vitamin C is very much less than on a standard or plant-based diet and is 100% met by eating meat. Put another way, those eating carbs need to eat a whole lot more vitamin C, because the carbs compete for the same transport mechanism. And the requirement for fibre is zero grams: there is no value in consuming indigestible plants (and no, 'feeding the gut microbiome' is not a reason: the microbiome is perfectly well nourished on the carnivore diet that humans evolved to eat.)
@jonathanhattingh44 минут бұрын
Mic tries to raise some concerns, but there’s a lot of cherry-picking going on here. He dismisses anecdotes of people thriving on carnivore but then brings up negative anecdotes to 'debunk' it? Can’t have it both ways. And comparing the diet to a cocaine binge? That’s just ridiculous. If we’re talking about real-world results, there are plenty of long-term carnivores who don’t have these issues. Also, the whole meat rots in the colon thing has been debunked so many times. Meat is broken down in the stomach and small intestine, rotting happens when fibre ferments in the colon, not protein. It’s weird that Mic completely ignores that. The vitamin C thing is also misleading. Carnivores have lower vitamin C needs because glucose and vitamin C compete for uptake in the body. That’s why so many long-term carnivores don’t develop scurvy. If the diet was inherently deficient, we’d see way more cases. And let’s be real, every diet has success stories and failure stories. There are loads of ex-vegans who had to quit because of nutrient deficiencies, but Mic doesn’t seem too concerned about those. If he wants to be scientific, he should apply the same scrutiny to both sides.
@billyruffian142624 минут бұрын
Mic is a lying propagandist.
@Mag_141813 минут бұрын
There are 2 reasons for why Mic resorts to anecdotes. 1) because that’s the only language carnivore dieters understand 2) because there isn’t much scientific literature available on the subject. Many people are under the impression that if they’re losing weight on a diet, it must be a healthy one. That’s why Mic brought up the cocaine binge story, you’d lose weight from it too, that does not mean it’s healthy. “Plenty of positive results of long-term carnivores” are cancelled out by negative results of long-term carnivores. As long as there are no wide scale long term studies done on carnivore populations this diet remains as nothing but a risky fad. Meanwhile, the scientific consensus is that the more plant-based a diet is, the better the health outcomes. You’ll find plenty more evidence for it on this channel.

I eat a high-protein, low-carb diet, mainly consisting of meats and veggies. I know that 'What I've Learned' is totally biased toward a carnivore diet. I understand why this diet contributes to a great muscular physique, as the majority of it comes from protein and provides high satiety from higher-fat foods. However, the scientific studies are compelling and support a more plant-based diet, as it helps prevent atherosclerosis and offers many long-term health benefits, such as a reduced risk of cancers, reduced inflammation, and a longer lifespan.
@billyruffian142625 минут бұрын
None of what you said about 'scientific studies' is true. There is zero evidence that meat is a carcinogen or that it promotes atherosclerosis, for example. Studies in this field are overwhelmingly - almost exclusively - garbage. Yet they still keep coming, and making outlandish and unsupported claims. As for inflammation, that comes from the many forms of plant toxins.

Could you give a reference, video title or link? Thanks. Keep up the good work. 👍

1:52 So annoying that people act like whether losing weight requires some kind of magic. It's really simple and only requires willpower (what those people are lacking): eat less calories than you burn everyday. Most fruits/vegetables contain like 70 - 90% water which has 0 kilo calories. Vegetables contain on average less calories than fruits because they contain less sugar (hence why an apple is sweeter than kale). Example for low calorie vegetables: salad (15 - 20 kcal per 100g), cucumber (15 - 20 kcal/100g), tomatoes (15 - 20 kcal/100g), spinach (20 - 25 kcal/100g), champignons (25 - 30 kcal/100g). Average human needs around 2000 kcal per day. Would love to see someone chug around 20 - 25 pounds of cucumber a day. Clearly the vegetables that made you overweight. 🤦♀️
