Thanks for the video. I love the way this knife looks, and hate the way it flips. I decided to tune the detent system. I disassembled the knife and removed the piece that has the ball bearing that falls into the detent. I put the piece that provides the tension in a vice with leather covered jaws, and bent it slightly so it would not have so much pressure on the detent. After reassembled it flips much nicer. The blade still won’t drop in when closing, but it goes in much easier. Now the 0707 is a knife I want to carry.

Opening and Closing knives is equally satisfying, so taking away one of those is a no go for me. It is almost why I have moved away from Benchmades, as the axis lock is no longer as much fun. Now obviously I love the knives and use them harder than the average collector, but I am too big a fan of drop shut action to pay not to have it. All that aside, the knife is not very aesthetically pleasing to me. In hand I might reconsider. Huge fan of ZT and recently picked up 0640 and 0452CF, and absolutely love them both. Great review as always.

As much as people complained how ugly the 0427 was, I was hoping they would one day release it. I an a sucker for LE stuff. Oh well. I gotta admit I was under a different impression wayyyyy back when they first announced the TDS back many years ago. I thought, what they were implementing was a [for lack of a better word] a type of "gimmick" that would allow the user to; tune the detent. Like have a small spring and bar to put pressure, or back pressure off to do minute changes to the feel of the knife. Wasn't expecting this type of set up at all. Thanks for the vid. and showing me what this was all about.

Thanks for the look inside. How much for a disassembled 0707 lol. Titanium isn't the most forgiving when it comes to spring tension, so I'm curious to feel the difference this makes. I'll bet the blade stays centered better with tension from both sides though.

What happened with ZT the past few years? Remember all the crazy releases, then home run after home run. Then it seemed like just a few releases, and some sprints here and there. What happened? Why hit the brakes on the momentum they had? What could be the reason for this?

People compare it to the bareknuckle and they should. Yet a Kershaw is a kershaw. A zt is a different level of official.
@Cypeq3 жыл бұрын
Oh how funny double detent is supposed to make frame lock flip easy every time... well my detent on 0707 is so stiff, I can barely open the knife and broke my nail already in 2 days... any attempt to open it leaves a hole in my finger for good minute... and it's sore by now. I'd like to bend it out a little but for the love of god I can't unscrew those pivot screws, main issue I don't have 2 torx of this size, why did they chose to do those screws this shitty way? Why so much thread lock? it feels glued shut. I tried the soldering iron to it but I don't know how long should I keep at it. No idea if I can damage CF if I overdo it... probably. I gotta buy second screwdriver... if you have more ideas to help out I'm all ears. I lubed it up, and tried bending out detent while in frame, no luck. edit: Got the second torx8, opened it up and loosened the leaf spring. It's fine now.
@joshuajackson56544 жыл бұрын
So I wasted my money on one of these. This knife is the only frame lock I've ever had difficulty opening due to pressure on the lock bar... the thing this stupid detente system is designed to prevent. If I press as hard as I can on the lock bar on my Sebenza, it doesn't affect the opening at all--even using my other hand to apply pressure. But the ZT0707 fails to open fully even with slight pressure, and since the handle is so thin, there's always some kind of pressure on the lock bar. It's also the only knife I can't tune for opening/closing, again due to this stupid detente system. The action out of the box is horrible. Worse than a $17 Kershaw. The bearings are not smooth. The clip is tiny, digs into my palm, and cannot be adjusted. You need two T8s to unscrew the pivot pin. Reviewers don't show the tip for very long for a reason: it's fragile.
@EpicSnuggleBunny4 жыл бұрын
lmao, I purposely hid the tip for what benefit to myself? I don't make any money if you buy one or not.

@tacticalcenter86584 жыл бұрын
No to zt. Love the cf they use but that's where our relationship ends and I own alot of zt's. The biggest issue with me, is the use of a steel considered to have high edge retention but they've optimized toughness instead, rather than using a steel high in toughness like 4v or m4 etc. So you get sub par edge retention for the composition of the steel. It's been tested independently in cut tests and also catra tests. Not to mention the heat treatment will vary wildly due to them being a volume manufacturer. And over heating edges. The other issue I have is there catering to mostly the high end gun market and not the knife user market. Lastly they haven't fixed there lock geometry issues that fail in different ways like light spine whacks on a roll of duct tap for example (other ways too). I've also seen that type of detent system... But I forget which model and brand I've seen it on. So maybe it was similar but not the same.

The first or second time I did the accidental pinch of the frame, and couldn't get the knife to deploy, I looked at the knife in my hand and realized it was a user error, not a knife error.
