Oh wow I wish I had known about these magnetic pallets a long time ago! I have a plastic one that I'll use to death... but I love the way the bamboo looks! The urge to replace my plastic one is strong, but I don't need it. However, I have been looking for ethical, zero waste brushes for months! Also that mascara looks so nice. I stopped wearing mascara because of the plastic tubes. While I don't think I'll use mascara on a daily basis I'm so happy to have a mascara option for when I want to be a bit glam. I love that they have the take back program.

I just purchased my first Elate mascara, and I didn't realize it would have plastic in it. I was super disappointed when I found it did. I emailed the company and asked how to dispose of the tube when I'm done, and they mentioned nothing about a take back program in their response, and suggested I donate the wands to that program that takes them to clean animals after oil spills. They also said they had "just heard about this program" so I'm intrigued as to where the take back program lies. I'm also not sure I understand the point of wrapping bamboo around a plastic tube besides green washing to make the products appeal to this community more? They said I'd have to smash the tube to get the bamboo off to compost it then recycle the rest of the tube, after thoroughly cleaning it out with lots of soap and water. If that's the case, I can do that with any mascara tube. Having said that, I love the formula and my lashes look great, I just feel like the company may be doing some greenwashing here. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

I love Elate!!! I don’t use their eyeliner mainly because of the price so I just use an eyeliner brush, wet it with water and use one of their eyeshadows as an eyeliner

I didn't know Elate had a take back program! I've been sending the wands to Project Wildwands to be used on animals. That's great to know! Haven't tried their palettes solely due to price, but it was good to hear your honest opinion! I would love to hear your thoughts on Aether Beauty, too :)

LOVED this video Shelbi! And to be quite honest, their makeup costs are very similar to high-end brands, which makes them very competitive! They even offer kits, which could be a great way to try them out and maybe even get a better deal! AND they are Canadian, meaning I could actually ship it to my house and it wouldn't cost me an unreasonable amount :D

How does it look at the end of the day, does it stay in place all, did the Texas heat ever try to melt off your makeup? I came here for the review of the make-up because I am actually looking up zero waste or ecologic replacements for the things I have now. Your review was quite helpful, considering I haven't seen them being applied to people. I do have to say that I have my doubts about the liquid eyeliner and the eyeshadow, maybe it's because I am used to having eyeshadows that are very pigmented from the beginning :-/

Will you please review foundation and powder? My foundation is by Gabriel which I got from Whole Foods. It’s the only color that matched me and omg is it runny. I’m not getting it again. And the powder I have I’m allergic to. I only want to use plant based make up because I have eczema and I’m so sensitive. I only wear foundation and powder. So pretty please try out these types of products and review them! Low waste is a huge part of values and I love companies that create products that don’t create much waste. @@Rehptawr I was using coverfx but it would slide around on my face and not cover my redness. I went to Sephora the other day and they told me about Ot Cosmetics foundation. I bought it, but haven’t tried it yet. And I’ve been using the Kat Von D translucent powder. I really like her powder!

Can you review Zerra & Co. makeup? They’re a zero waste makeup brand I recently came across. They have mascara, eyeliner, lip balm, eyeshadow and some other products. I just restocked on makeup, but would consider switching to these zero waste options in the future. I’m debating trying out their makeup remover in the meantime, but am also tempted to just buy one of those magic make up remover towels.

I almost purchased Elate Cosmetics recently until I read the ingredients and realized they use artificial colors. I don't eat artificial colors, so I don't want them in my lipstick. I purchased from Kjaer Weis instead.

When I contacted Elate Cosmetics they said that they are working on reformulating the lipstick colors that contain artificial colors to phase out the artificial Red 7 and Yellow 5. Yay! I probably will give them a try.

You should try Kjaer Weis! Same clean ingredients except they do refills for everything (eyeshadow pans, mascara, lipstick, etc). They have a high price tag tho so I haven’t been able to try them 😔

You should check out the cream blush from them it's super nice but my skin type is dry so I'm all for creme products to me it's light but bulidable pretty on bare skin or natural makeup or no makeup makeup

Could you do a review on Vapour or Kjaer Weis?! I'm trying to replace my liquid foundation (my staple used to be clinique even better) and its not going well! I tried Sappho. It left my skin feeling odd and lacked coverage. I also tried the Kjaer Weis cream foundation (just the refill and didn't buy the compact because $$), but I find it takes way too long to apply in the morning when I need to be out the door asap. Any thoughts?! Also, could you do a video on how to dispose of old make up not worth giving away?!

I struggle so much with make up! I know it's not eco friendly but I also like the make up that I wear. I basically wear concealer around my eyes, mascara, and then I just color in my eye brows so you can actually see them! I don't have make up brushes but I would be lying if I said I don't worry about all the plastic waste my make up produces! I do not wear lipstick or eye shadow but the makeup I buy comes in little plastic tubes that I feel are really wasteful

For anyone in Europe looking for zero waste make IP: ZAO is basically the same (bamboo packaging, refillable, natural etc.) and available over here. A bit cheaper is purobio :)

I would be interested in seeing what you have to say about 100% pure products! They make their makeup from fruit and plant pigments. So they don't have any minerals in them which I think is really cool and maybe more eco-friendly than makeup made from minerals? They do use plastic but offer a lot of things in glass and metal!

Shelbizleee I was dying to know what face products you were using in this and your other videos, so I’m glad I finally got the answer, lol. Now that it’s been a year since you made this, what all do you use on your face? I just ordered the highlighter and bronzer from Elate, and I ordered 3 powdered foundation samples to find out my perfect color. My skin is clear, but I have lots of redness and broken capillaries that I need to cover when I wear makeup. I love powder foundations because they feel like you’re not wearing makeup. I also ordered Raw Skin Ceuticles loose powder foundation to try. Have you tried Elate’s creme concealer?
