You can sanitize your powders by spraying rubbing alcohol on them once in a while! It kills the bacterias on top
@arielholmes87004 жыл бұрын
also relating to mascara, you said you don’t like cake mascara because bacteria can build up but that is actually even more likely with tube mascara. the mascara gets mixed with bacteria and you can’t change that, but with a cake mascara you can sanitize the top layer and the rest of the mascara is completely sanitary
@L1ttlef0ot4 жыл бұрын
@@arielholmes8700 I agree, since tube mascara is supposed to be tossed 6 months after opening just from bacteria buildup and air exposure. I have besamé cake mascara in black and purple and they’re gonna last me a very long time since I seldom wear makeup, and I don’t have to throw out a tube of mascara just because it’s been a while since I used makeup

I kept my favorite mascara wand from a different bottle and disenfected it to use with the cake mascara instead of the supplied brush because I like mine better but the original one works just fine too. Best tip I can give is to wait a minute after putting the water on top so it congeals into a paste, if it’s immediate it’s too watery

I use the Besame cake mascara and an old L'Oreal mascara wand that I kept from my last tube of it (the shape works very well for what I want). It's a hard cake and I just wet the wand with a little water and work the top of it into a paste. The paste dries fairly quickly, so I'm not too worried about it getting nasty, but if you're squeamish about it, you can spritz it with an alcohol spray to sterilize it. Sure, it's $25 with the tin, and the refills are $20, but it lasts a loooonnngggggg time.

I work at ulta, we are required to destroy or on some items send back to the vendor everything. I've questioned it before on why we couldn't donate it. Apparently people were trying to return the donated items and get merchandise credit. It kills me seeing all the waste but the cardboard does get recycled. I always ask people on smaller purchases if they need a bag instead of just giving them one.
@youlextube4 жыл бұрын
Got to the end of your comment and saw that you ask people if they’d like a bag with small purchases- I really reallyyy appreciate that. You’re doing Gods work lol. Can’t STAND at grocery stores or whatever when a single item (or a small item(s)) are put into a bag, it gets me upset inside. Also why people don’t say more often “I don’t need a bag”!! Small story time- I was only getting a few things at self checkout just putting them on the side after scanning to carry out myself, scanned the bottle of alcohol I had as the last thing and of course the store associate came over to approve it. Then after doing so, took it from where I had put it w the other things and DOUBLE BAGGED IT saying “Put it in a bag so it doesn’t break and to do 2 so it doesn’t accidentally fall through the bottom”... Like I was just planning on actually holding onto my things the few yards it takes to walk out to my car but okay?? I appreciated the thought but, if I wanted it bagged I would have done it myself- @ SELF check out lol. It’s so unfortunate how most employees are sort of programmed to put every single item into a plastic bag. I very much hope this can be a change in the future- you’re already doing a small part wherever you are in the world! So Thank You!! X

Their mascara cake is super cool but I have yet to master it. I got some brushes on Amazon (they didn’t have any in stock on bessame) and it’s easy to apply but it definitely takes longer and you have to be very careful how you apply. That said it’s actually more of a wax? (I think) so it’s actually much more hygienic to apply and keep than using regular mascara. Definitely recommend giving them a look. I’m super into vintage and retro looks so this up my ally. But the fact that most of its also zero waste is freaking amazing.

Currently switched over all my makeup to vegan and cruilty free. Some are environment better than others (glass) but I guess while I use those I can bookmark better ones for the environment.

new subscriber here and im definitely going through all your videos. your videos have been so inspirational as I've been wanting to be more eco-friendly for years now, but wasn't sure how. your account is like a map for me. I'm the weirdo in the family who always tries to think about the environment first, i hope that by following in your footsteps i can inspire my family to think more about their eco footprint :)

Yes, I need this. I like makeup but struggle with my believes with cruelty free and sustainable packaging. It would be cool a video of makeup products that are better for the environment that I can find at the drugstore. For example, instead of plastic retractable eye pencil buy the wood eye pencil.

Have you tried Pacifica? They are super affordable and although they do have plastic, they offer a recycling program.

Hey, I was wondering if you could make a video about where you get your furniture and what sites and cites you've had the best luck finding secondhand furniture.

I don't know if you will see this. But can you do a video about more make up but also for zero waste color correctorS ? I haven't been able to find any.

I love the fat and the moon highlighter!! I just got it a few months ago. I don’t wear makeup very often, so I really like how subtle it is. I currently am trying Cake Mascara from Besame and it’s...alright? I’m still trying to figure it out. If I wet my mascara wand too much then the mascara is too runny. But if I don’t use enough water, it flakes and dries out super quickly 😅 I’m going to keep trying though! And I started using Native deodorant because of you and it’s perfect for me! I got my partner to switch to it as well hehe 🤪 Thanks so much Shelbi for sharing your routine :)
