Doom Eternal - Ultra-Nightmare in

Whenever I say I'm done with doom you can safely assume I'm lying, decided I'd attempt a speedrun when I woke up yesterday so here it is. I didn't expect this game to be this short so it's not too bad to get through it in a single segment.
Time is RTA (Real Time) and not IGT (In-Game Time), as I can't be bothered to use external timers and my load times are really quick anyways. I believe this is the record for now, took only 1 attempt after my first UNM clear, though I did some practice on a few tricks, most notably some Urdak skips. This is done without major glitches which allow you to jump over the map or whatever, of course what counts as a major glitch is debatable.
Graphics settings are set to max/ultra nightmare, FOV is 115.

The good thing about this run is that I didn't die, the bad things are time loss all over the place. Since all the best weapon modes are on top I managed to screw up and select remote detonate which made Cultist Base a lot harder and slower than it needed to be.
Again my doom hunter base boss fight was awful, think I should have died 3 times there and everything was really slow. I forget you should save some ammo for the start of that fight. I felt my aim was quite poor throughout most of this, I missed way too many simple shots. Forgot to pick up BFG ammo on nekravol II and wasted several other BFG cells.
Shoutouts to KingDime for the best way to kill the marauder at 1:23:15 , I should probably have done it more often and not wasted BFG ammo like I did on the others.
So happy I got the small skip at 1:38:33, I managed to get it the first time I tried this and then kind of failed it every time afterwards until here.
No immediate plans on improving this for now, sure, I could improve it by some minutes, but it would be better to put in several hours of effort into perfecting the route and practicing before doing that. There's still several skips I don't even know about and I don't want to play without air control rune even though faster glory kills would be faster. I've also uploaded 3 full playthroughs of the game, that's enough for now unless I can come up with something interesting, maybe some sort of challenge run, we'll see...
Time starts from when you gain control (0:33) and time ends when you lose control (2:26:10), so 2:25:37 or something being the total time.

What they need, are options to turn off some of the shit that gets in the way of speed running (such as the animations when you pick up collectables, or auto skipping cutscenes), add some better crosshair options, and hopefully, higher difficulty (they did it with Rage 2, so here's hoping). Oh, and yeah, more master levels, those things are awesome for longevity.

@@mikemoseley yeah thats just a fall. eternal doesnt kill you for falls, thank god actually with all the platforming actually. there is barely a punishmnet besides a little hp. if you are not sure if you can make a jump might as well just try cause the punishment is so minuscule and lots of times you learn you can make the jump.

I wouldn't be surprised if sub 2 hours is possible, looks a bit far away with over 25 minutes needing to be knocked off.. but so much time can be saved by just knowing when and where the demons spawn, skipping unnecessary glory kills, including all possible skips (except for scroll wheel jumping) and of course using the BFG where it is the most effective. Ammo on sentinel crystals first would also be much better I imagine (though it replenishes BFG ammo later on, so I could be wrong).

In many ways the earliest levels are the hardest due to lack of equipment/upgrades; same as Doom 2016. Yeah, I've died on level 3 a number of times. The pit fight can either go perfectly or dead in seconds.

@@dribblesg2 This is so true, I'm currently playing "Nightmare" on Doom 2016, and the very first area was one of the hardest until now. (I'm on Level 10 now, Titan's Realm) After max. out the Gauss Cannon (both primary and secondary fire mode) the game becomes a lot easier :-) I'm using a 100% walkthrough to get as much upgrades as possible and I'm re-playing older missions to upgrade my Runes and also for the weapon masteries.

@[ŸÜRÏ] Ultra-Nightmare requires an adjustment in play style. You need to much more methodical and arguably a bit surgical in the way you dispatch demons. You can afford to make small mistakes, but they need to be few and far between. Even on Nightmare, you can't really afford to just kick the door down and start shooting. You definitely need to take a moment and assess the threat in front of you... which usually means kiting around the arena for a few seconds or until you run into an "OHSHIT YOU NEED TO DIE" (i.e. Pain Elemental or Archvile lol).

Sick run! This is just insane. Besides this amazing run there are so many people who have beaten Eternal on Ultra-Nightmare. Wherever you look there's somebody who's either finished or "died at the final boss". I don't know if it's worth being called a "difficult challenge" at this point. Seems like literally anyone can just boot up the game and casually no death it. I know Zero Master can't be farther away from "anyone", but the point still stands - the list of people who got the no death is getting ridiculously big. Maybe that's because of the q-word.

Yes, both of you guys are misunderstanding. This run is an Ultra Nightmare run with no major glitches, which basically means complete the game as intended under the lowest time possible. While the other is a any% run (usually on the easiest difficulty) which has a goal of completing the game under the lowest time possible by exploiting any mechanic from the game as it comes, this by any mean doesn't mean that those are cheating runs. Literally anything that can be used from the game without modified files (which would be considered cheating) is used on a any% run. TL;DR: Both are valid runs but for two separated categories as it is usual on any game that can be speedrunned.
