I had an bunch of timing drop issues and I replaced the VANOS solenoids, it helped a bunch! Car feels peppy and a lot less timing pulls! The reason I changed the Vanos solenoids because of a vanos code i got a while back. I also had some idling issues occasionally, not all the time. Try new oem solenoids! The code I got was 2A82 Inlet-Vanos variable cam control test!

Very impressive times mate, hope its just the Vanos Solenoids playing up. Plugs and Coils definitely have a lot to do with timing corrections. I'm still running Bosch oem ones but that's because I haven't got crazy 17ts like your car has. From what I read, 2 step colder plugs gapped to 0.020" (0.508mm) recommended for your car.

Try evans waterless coolant it does let the motor heat soak as badly and transfers heat better than normal coolant
@ZeroTo60Tube4 жыл бұрын
I was super keen on evans until I saw some independent testing on it. It appears it just boils at a higher boiling point, thus less chance of boiling the coolant and fixes a over heating issue that. Thing is the engine is getting too hot still, it just doesn’t boil any more. That said haven’t used it myself so can’t comment with any authority, just what I saw made me think it was a solution to a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place.
@milehighboost55214 жыл бұрын
Dont just clean the vanos solenoids but also the vanos filters. Super easy and taken out with a t40 or t50 bit i believe. Also, are you running an ekpm2 or ekpm3 in that car? Just curious if you’ve had any issues at all with your lpfps on the ekpm2 since my 535 came with the same older ekp unit and i get that same fuel pump “shadow code” you got in this video. I tried to code in an ekpm3 due to issues with my lpfp not holding pressure or priming until i hit the start engine button but inpa doesnt want to recognize the newer ekpm3 so im kind of stuck on this issue. And yes, i did install a new fuel filter that comes with a new fuel pressure regulator and still same issue. Starts and drives fine but annoying it does take a tad bit longer to start up due to this issue
@ZeroTo60Tube4 жыл бұрын
I did actually put new filters in the engine while it was out. But that is something people overlook a lot. Im running a china ekpm3, i was having a few fuel issues on the BMS and RFP maps, but its not been a problem since the hybrids went on with the JSR tune.

I had the same vanos code a couple of years ago, changing the solenoids and cleaning the filters didn't help. The exhaust sprocket had actually slipped on the cam. Did you replace the collar bolts on the cam sprockets when you timed the motor? They are a 1 time use bolt and are torqued to yield. I had the motor retimed and the bolts replaced and the issue hasn't come back. I put it down to the xhp stage 3 flash on the transmission being too hard on it, from the rpms changing too quickly under load.
@Ewok_Nz4 жыл бұрын
Just looking at the vid, the code triggers once you go into over run. The exhaust cam will fully retard or advance (can't remember). If this is the case the cold start will probably trigger it too. You can check in INPA I believe there is a vanos test you can perform and manually control the cams to check if they respond correctly and can reach max retard and max advance stops
@ZeroTo60Tube4 жыл бұрын
Yes, i did replace those bolts with new ones. Once yours slipped did you have on going codes?
@Ewok_Nz4 жыл бұрын
@@ZeroTo60Tube oh bloody good. Those bolts just stood out to me as a potential cause. Codes never came back. I had to get the stealership to do the work as I didn't have the timing tool. They were great, showed me all the INPA testing etc and didn't charge too much. The techs there said they occasionally see it mostly on 06 and 07 motors. Did the manual conversion shortly afterwards so I can't say for sure what caused it.

Need to see a proper log to see TQ req ActTQ I'm sure it's in the 180 curve. Need to see boost req/act fuel pressures and trims and timing corrections. If your trims max out positive I'm pretty sure the next step is for the DME to pull a tiny bit of timing out to be within trim limits. Same injectors? Same HPFP? The one time I could see your high side fuel it looked like 💩 so that's what I'm working with

I wonder if you could launch better in a manual. Its pretty funny how easily you spin your tires. Maybe you need tires with a stickier compound.
@ZeroTo60Tube4 жыл бұрын
Better rubber would help a lot. Manuals are definitely tricky to launch, but being to control the clutch slip would be nice assuming the clutch was up to it. This just spins the rears effortlessly.
