MadMaxPyro canonically the stories of old never mention link by name only as “the hero” Example: “the hero of time” or “the hero of winds” and since most games before skyward Sword let you name the character whatever you wanted he was essentially a “link” to the player and had no real name which is probably why every incarnation of link is called “the hero of whatever he used to defeat ganon” in the in game legends of old
