Zeta Gundam: A New Translation (English)

So this video is a little experiment I did. I was trying to see what the new Zeta movies would be like with an English dub.
You'll have to excuse the liberties I took with what the characters are saying, as I wanted to use Brad Swaile as Amuro instead of Matthew Erickson (the guy they got for the U.S. zeta series release).
I really do prefer the Japanese dialogue with subs but I was just curious to see how this would look and sound. Let me know what you think...
Like I said, this was a quick experiment, and is far from perfect. This was done with the intention of demonstrating what an English dub could have been like.

+MarsGundam Really? I despise the voice actor of Camille with all my heart! I grew up with Swail as Quatre in Gundam Wing, and he clearly is a professional voice actor in all of his performances, so no problems on that account. Others are ok, but no one can hold a candle to the original japanese voice actors.

It's amazing that Zeta got the cameo appearance right...And Seed Destiny, so many years later, fucked it up so much. I like how understated Amuro's appearance is, and he doesn't go on to dominate the show. In fact, he only ever gets two Gundams: One at the start of his career, and the other at the end of his life.

Yeah they did just enough with Amuro and kept him on earth, so it made me want more of him but also let me enjoy the new cast. I really enjoyed having char as a protagonist

Zeta Gundam was definitely one of the very best Gundam animes. I was a huge fan, but I really hated what they did with the New Translation movies. They took the cheap way out when it came to animation, it seems so tacky to me when one segment will be all original and the next looks like a completely different series. Maybe I'm just too picky.

In the TV series, Kamille was mentally disabled by Paptimus Scirocco and was left in a semi-coma at the ending, but he regained his senses and woke up in the middle of Gundam ZZ. However, in the movie compilation, A New Translation, Kamille was okay.

I know you prefer the subs, but this is just brilliant. I've never even seen a UC Gundam series outside a handful of Mobile Suit, but the scenes and dialogue match up beautifully. Everything is filled with depth and fits perfectly (with very minor things due to the voice). Really, congratulations.

That was awesome, Amuro and Char's voices were spot on IMO, and Camille's was great. I know its not liked by many, i do prefer english dubs over subtitles, however only if they're good. (i.e. Unicorn and Wing) I can keep up with and enjoy subtitles, but sometimes it can be distracting from the action.

I’m ok with it I’m gundam. It makes no sense for any of these characters to be speaking Japanese. I think hayato is the only Japanese character and he grew up in space. More than likely they really would be speaking english

Wow, after I started watching this I forgot that you said that the dubs weren't official. You did a perfect job!!! I never recommend people watch dub over the subs since the dubs don't usually capture the moments as well as the japanese seiyu, but the way you stitched this together is just perfect!! Nicely done, I know it may be too much to ask, but can you do it for all 4 movies?

I've started dubbing the first Zeta Gundam movie... but it's taking a long time cause of my high school (they give a lot of work to do)... I've done only like 3 minutes of dubbing though =D It's the original voice actors and I'm doing this all myself... so yeah it's gonna take a while... but I guess it's worth the wait =D

Also I could never really find a good line for Amuro when he sees the Mark. II. @Salvysahagun Ultimately that is hard to say since 1. They are fictional; no evidence to prove or disprove that 2. as we have seen it is the pilot that truly matters not the machine. As I understand it, the Mk.II is just a training model based off the RX-78-2; so in the grand scheme probably not that great. The Hyaku Shiki is actually just an unfinished proto-type. Now, the Ashimar was a new and complete model that is a transformable mobile armor, specializing in close and ranged combat.

Funnily enough most of the Gundam English dubs made for America were dubbed in Canada, including both the original Gundam and Zeta Gundam, though by different dubbing studios. :D Though this was VERY well put together, a pity these guys didn't actually do an English dub, but hey at least the movies had a DVD release in America, that's better then nothing. :) Once again great job on the editing. :)
