for those interested on my repair. i followed his steps, since i dont have the beeper feature, i used the ohm feature of my tester and i noticed 1 pin has 0ohm resistance and 1 pin has about 100000ohm resistance for good mosfet. for bad mosfet, both pins have 0 ohm resistance. i just salvaged a mosfet from another motherboard. though not the same, it seems to work but not sure for how long

Its important to match replacement components. Any old cap or mosfet will not do.

Bruce Lee i use cellkit 805d, it like gordak or else, but not like hakko. I use 4 for air flow, and 4-4,5 for hot (about 330c-360c). But in high motherboard it's more hot than low med motherboard

1. no it can be any mosfet with right channel, package and minimally tha same or higher amperage 2. flux is NESSESSARY anytime when soldering 3. u can ose hotair, infrared or laser beam. soldering is just heating

So the open is bypassed without the CPU power plugged in. But when the CPU is plugged in it re routes the connection but ends continuity because of the open thus shutting down all power anywhere on the board.

Check if all plugs and cables are firmly in. Pull all the ram and clean them with a rubber ( A pencil rubber. ) by lightly rubbing the gold contacts, both sides. Buy a new cmos battery. If nothing then it could be power. If power is known to be good then it's probably mobo short somewhere. Anything like loose screws in the case? Gently shake it, you'll hear it.

Could be a bad power supply. Also could be bad electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard. Sometimes you will see the capacitors leaking and it bulging.

2:20 Open MOSFET?? That's a short there -_- And who solders replacements without removing the old RoHS unleaded solder? Do it the right way, flood the area with generous amounts of solder flux and wick the old crusty solder. Tin the pads with good solder (leaded one lol) and rework back the MOSFET. Clean with IPA.
