Thanks for this video! I've been using Obsidian for over a month now, I already have over 300 notes and I've been doing so much research on how to organize and find my notes again in the future. I watched so much videos and read so much things and ways to do Zettelkasten, but this is the first time I'm seeing so much information in one place and better explanation about this method.

This is such a great & simple explanation of Zettelkasten. Really appreciate how you broke each part down. I also created a new kind of note which I called Cluster Notes (like your hub notes) and it has made all the difference in keeping trains of thought and notes linked on certain topics & ideas.

Hi Ev! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the video :D I like the name Cluster notes. It indicates that there are lots of ideas around a certain topic, hence the necessity to create a new note to tie them together :)

Hi Darin, Great videos keep them coming. I was keen to understand the actual structure you have more. That is the MOC or HUB content how this is formed and the secondary directories and numbering system. I have just started my journey but more to study and learn things such as IT Certifications, Cyber Security etc. I struggle just reading and watching and came across your site which inspired me to reach out.
@dsuthapong
@dsuthapong 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike! Thank you so much for your feedback. You just gave me an idea for a future post :D Actually my structure is very simple as the goal of my Zettelkasten is mainly for self-development and content creation. May I ask you if you want to learn about IT/Cyber Security to deepen your knowled about the topic or you are taking any particular exams? I do think that the Zettelkasten organization for these 2 purposes might be different.

Hi , interesting you should as as both are equal. One ro study deeper learning and the other for prep exam. With the limited knowledge i have, taking notes non linear and ability to study with new pathways is actually better. My only issue is creating takes a while not like your basic study and note taking. BUT...i do feel like i understand better...

Hi Darin, I watched your video several times in a month, and everytime I watched it, it gave me new inspirations. As I link my notes I encountered a problem: some of my permanent notes are inspired by lit notes. If the inspired note is a premis for a conclusion in a lit note to be valid, I don't know where to put it / how to link it. I mean it's always the lit notes support a permanent note, not the other way. I am curious if you ever encountered this kind of issue. Thank you! I love your video so much, and I am also trying to link my ideas like a train.

Hi Stephanie! Thank you so much for your comment. You inspired me to make more videos and show my updated workflows ☺️ Yes! Most of permanent notes should be supported by lit notes. In the bottom of a permanent note, i put a comment like this: Originated by: [NameOfLitNote]

Darin, this is a very interesting approach. I really appreciate the simplicity of the design. Do you use a MOC or something similar to 'group' your Hub notes, or do they stand alone? Great work, I look forward to more videos. Perhaps, one more example video on this subject might be helpful. Regardless, thank you. Arnie...

Hi Arnie, thank you so much for your feedback and comment :) I do have "Master Hub Notes" that groups many Hub notes together. For example "Wealth" is a master Hub Note and "Cryptocurrency" is linked back to "Wealth." Hope this helps :)

You absolutely need to organize your ideas somehow even if they are loose/fuzzy categories. When you add new zettles/ideas/thoughts into your system you need to know where to find the other ones so that you link them properly otherwise you may not link them right the power of this system is in the links that build up from the ideas over time. But its also useful as a memory aid.

Hi. Thanks for the video. Which folder do the Hubs belong to? (Feeling, Literature or Permanent, their own folder?). Could you also explain what is the difference between a HUB and a MOC? (I am new at this)
@dsuthapong
@dsuthapong 2 жыл бұрын
Hi ther! I put Hub notes in its folder (Hub folder) . HUB notes and MOCs are not in the official Zettelkasten method, but just something people created to group notes together. I don’t think you should worry too much about the differences. In my system, I don’t call these notes MOCs as i don’t see them as a “map” for my Zettelkasten, but more like a hub for a research questions. ☺️

Can i ask some question? 1. So your hub notes (How to maintain a beautiful state) is also the part of your another hub notes right (My mindset & state)? 2. What is the function of the "Related : How to deal with harsh people" section that is in below of your "Hub : My Mindset & State" section? I really need for your answer because I want to utilize this technique as soon as possible, because I love learning and wanna do it effectively with this high order learning style (Refer to Bloom Taxonomy and Solo Taxonomy).
@dsuthapong
@dsuthapong Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the excellent questions Selenoida! Let me answer one-by-one 1. So your hub notes (How to maintain a beautiful state) is also the part of your another hub notes right (My mindset & state)? Answer: Yes! I personally called it "Sub-Hub Note" since "How to maintain a beautiful state" is a child of "My Mindset & State" Hub note 2. What is the function of the "Related : How to deal with harsh people" section that is in below of your "Hub : My Mindset & State" section? Answer: The function is to help me create a relationship between this note, "How to maintain a beautiful state," other notes in my zettelkasten. In Solo Taxonomy, this is processing the information at the "Relational" level and above. When I mentioned here ""Related : How to deal with harsh people" what I meant is that this note, "How to maintain a beautiful state," has some relationship with the note "How to deal with harsh people," which by the way is also a Hub note. However, I would say that I now try to NOT use "Related:....." any more as it is a very "weak" relationship. A much better way would be to say some thing like: "How to maintain a beautiful state" is an essential part of "How to deal with harsh people." I hope this helps!
@selenoida
@selenoida Жыл бұрын
@@dsuthapong Wow, thx for the time that you spend to answer my question, it is so helpful for me. Btw wanna clarify a bit, so the "essential part of" is actually a "sub-hub note"?
@dsuthapong
@dsuthapong Жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! I guess you mean “the essential part of a Hub note”? If that’s the case, the essential part of a Hub Note is “Permanent notes.” Most of my Hub Notes don’t have Sub Hub Notes. Normally, a Hub Note that has Sub Hub Notes are big topics. For example, a Hub Note called “Business will have Sub Hub Notes namely Marketing, Finance, Sales, etc.. One thing to note though is that this is just how I manage my notes. The Original Zettelkasten system doesn’t have this kind of “Hub Note and “Subs” structure. In fact, the Zettelkasten practice is almost against this kind of notes organization! But I think it’s helpful to organize it this way in some cases.
@selenoida
@selenoida Жыл бұрын
@@dsuthapong Yup, the system that is organized well will be helpful for most of us. So, because of that, I love on how you organize things by using "Hub Note" even though the term "Hub Note" isn't in The Original Zettelkasten. So "How to deal with harsh people" and "How to maintain a beautiful state" are different hub note that has a relationship right? and it's not a sub-hub note relationship, right?

I have doubts and confusion in hub notes. 1. How to originate hub notes. 2. Though of making hub notes. 3. How to connect hub notes. 4. How to find this note is Related to this hub notes 5. Should we connect only permanent note or connect permanent and literature note.
@dsuthapong
@dsuthapong Жыл бұрын
Hi Shivam! Thanks for the question 😊 In the next video i’ll explain more about this, so stay tuned! But in the meantime here are some answers for you. As I briefly explained in this video, a Hub note is a place to summarize and “synthesize” ideas: kzbin.info/www/bejne/an_Qq2muisSAi6s 1. How to originate Hub notes: there are 2 main ways A.) Top-down approach when you wanna learn or understand something, you can create a hub note -> then read/consume info about that topic -> create literature notes and permanent notes -> connect permanent notes to hub notes B.) Bottom-up approach You read or consume interesting information -> you “develop” an interest from that information -> then you create a hub note 2. How to connect hub notes? Should you only connect permanent notes to Hub notes: A Short answer is that “you should only connect permanent notes to hub notes.” Longer answer is that it might depend on your style of workflow. Personally, i found out that connecting literature notes to hub notes, while is quicker and more convenient, makes it hard to synthesize ideas in hub notes. As i said, stay tuned for the next video and hope it will be helpful 🥰
