When you insert the card into monolith - wouldn’t you also want it under failure? And how would you do that?

I haven’t laughed so hard at a video in a long time. So much insight and comedy!!! I am an unabashed Scott Scheper fan-boy and disciple. I’m only eight minutes in and this the best SS video in a while.

When presented with a French Philosopher the smart money is always on him being homosexual. But in any particular case who can be so sure? It's funny to see your videos take on a lighter tone.

so, i'm actually about to read Oedipe (Ed-EEP) for my dissertation, and my PhD General Exam is why I'm starting my antinet zettelkasten haha, but neither Oidipos Tyrannos (by Sophokles) nor Oedipe follow the Hero's Journey, tbh, because he's doesn't conquer fate or even lift the plague over Thebes, but rather is a /victim/ of fate. I guess you could say he follows it in the pre-story, the one that's revealed, but Oedipus is the tragic hero whose hubris destroys him, his family, and his town (because being proud and blaspheming is bad for EVERYONE, not just you). Also, Joseph Campbell was a nazi-loving pos who thought that Africa had no cultural heritage worth anything. Took a whole class on African Drama and lemme tell ya, that's foolishness of the highest caliber. But that's eugenicist garbage for ya: foolish. Anyway, point was that Tragic heroes and the monomyth .... aren't the same story. Like, a tragedy is the failure of the hero to get through, iirc. It's not all it's cracked up to be.

Where can one find more info on Campbell being a Nazi loving pos?

From what I've read, you are buying into someone who was brainwashed into thinking Campbell was a Nazi-lover: "Gill relates that Campbell delivered a lecture at Sarah Lawrence on December 13, 1941 entitled "Permanent Human Values," that argued artists should remain faithful to their art rather than diving into the politics of the moment. Campbell apparently sent a copy of this lecture to Thomas Mann, who at the time, had stepped away from his writing to fight the rising power of the Nazis. Gill sees this communication with Mann as an indication of Campbell's right-wing politics, and as a sign of support for Nazism. A further supposed incidence of anti-semitism is Campbell's preference of Jung over Freud. To quote Gill, "[Campbell] despised Freud, and it appeared from our talks that he did so in large part because of the fact that Freud was Jewish. He approved highly of Jung and not least because Jung wasn't Jewish." Such specious reasoning in these two arguments dis credit themselves and has earned no further comment. Indeed, one could argue a better case of discrimination against Gill, who from his own line of reasoning, seems to believe that Jewishness or its lack is the only way in which one can evaluate a theorist. No incident of racism is given in the article, rather only the loose remark that Campbell disapproved of the policies of Sarah Lawrence, a politically liberal school during Campbell's tenure. Presumably there were race-re lated issues during this time, which we are to assume from Gill's references Campbell must have fought against."

well I first got yikesd out reading the first book in his series 'Masks of God' which iirc [it's been a while] said something along the lines of how primitive the babylonians were [which is hilarious] and that africa had no culture, and he made some weird comment about skulls. I'll have to look it up though. It's in the back of my bookshelf@@scottscheper by the time those were written phrenology was no longer a thing or taken seriously at all.
