He turned himself into a mare to distract a giant's stallion who was hauling stone blocks to build Asgard's wall; if the giant had finished the wall in time, Odin would have had to give the giant his wife, Frigga. Without his horse to haul the stones, the giant failed in the task, and Frigga stayed in Asgard...and by the time Thor got back home, Sleipnir had been born. Thor couldn't really say anything about his 'nephew' though, because Odin loved that horse. Granted, Loki doesn't have much excuse for the other two, but at least one of his kids is legit beloved by his adopted dad and not at all evil.

@@ranwolf7650 Loki was forced by the other gods to take the shape of a mare to lure a stallion so they would win a bet they were about to lose (a bet that Loki had convinced them to make in the first place, hence why they put the blame on him.) which results in Loki accidentally ending up getting pregnant as the mare and giving birth to Sleipnir. however, both Jormundgandr and Fenrir were are all born from Loki's Jotun mate Angrboda. for some reason there is this misconception that Loki had sex with animals or took the shape of animals to have sex, but this is completely false. the "mare" legend is the only story in all of the sagas and texts that mentions anything about him fornicating as, and with an animal, and it wasn't even consentual. there is no explination or reason to why two of Loki's children were born as monsters. it's mostly likely just because it's thematic to Loki's position as having an antagonistic presence in norse mythology and being the catalyst for Ragnarok. his children being linked to prophecies of great mischief and disaster. Even Loki's daughter Hel, while not born as a creature, has a distorted apperance.

The Disney movie of that legend was so sanitized it barely had a passing resemblance to the original tales. Zeus father was a titan who swallowed all of his other children, Zeus was Substituted with a rock to be swallowed instead and raised hidden....Yes gods in all myths are susceptible to tricks and things. They are supposed to be faulty to an extent so it makes sense in a way.

He is found out and makes a plan to get it back, which involves dressing Thor up as a bride for one of the Giants. It worked, too. I actually like how in Marvel, unlike many other takes on the Norse, Loki is not straight up EVIL, more mischievous and overambitious, like in the original myths. In D&D, for example he is straight up Chaotic Evil.

According to ancient greek history, Zeus had a long track record of having many wives and children, and one of them being his sister Hera whom he had ...well..taken advantage of and had children with Hera so honestly I think Thor calling Zeus a shapeshifting rapist was pretty accurate; however, in spite of that , in Ancient Greece, it is common for Zeus to have many wives and kids although his sister/ wife Hera wasn't happy with his infidelity .

Zues's only really deep line was calling Thor a cross-dresser as that could either be referencing Thor being a woman in marvel comics at the time or a story of when the goblin king stole Thor's hammer and held it ransom unless Thor's sister agreed to marry him so Thor had to put on a dress and a wedding veil and go fake marry the king until he could steal his hammer back.
