As someone who is legally blind in one eye I just want to clarify something. You can still see things out of your blind eye. Shapes, colours, movements. Blind doesn't mean you necessarily have no vision in the eye. And it will be a different set of circumstances for everyone, and of varying degrees. I am sure there are some people who have no vision in their eye, but like anything there is a wide spectrem to account for. Keep up the awesome videos Rich :).

That's why a lot of people will make the distinction between blind and legally blind. There's a girl who's legally blind in my medieval combat club and while she's not a top fighter, she's still pretty damn good for somebody who basically can't see anything. I think she tracks the body movement and infers the sword swings from that.

My specific issue is I can't see details out of my right eye, I get ghosting which creates triples and sometime quadruples of images and more commonly light sources. So for me shades help when looking into light sources, and while driving. So it really depends on the environment. Usually they help though.

i will say though that being blind is misunderstood. only about 1% of blind people are fully blind, a lot of them can see shadows and lights like when sighted people close their eyes. hence the distinction between blind and legally blind. so yes, i think stevie wonder is blind but not in the stereotypical way.

If you watch the video of him catching the mic, he opens his arm out. Blind guys have a greater emphasis on their other senses for spacial awareness, so he would've heard it fall. If he knew it where it was, he would've one with the hand, like anyone else, but he went with the arm to try and see if it was even there.

However blind people do have a reflex response such as flinching, dodging oncoming projectiles and even jetting your arm out to catch something. This is because blindness is caused by a disconnect between the eyes and the ocular lobe. However, your brain still sees what's going on, even if you cannot. Reflexes such as what is described earlier are what is known as autonomic functions, meaning they are actions that occur without conscious thought. Breathing, blinking, and basic reflexes are all examples of this. The tectum is a part of the midbrain that controls auditory and visual reflexes. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now the technicals are explained, think of being blind as a TV with a no video feed. Trivia: The first live action tv show of Wonder Woman was in the 60s. The one famous is the pilot for Wonder Woman with Cathy Lee Crosby who was replaced by Lynda Carter for several seasons. Lily in this ERB is dressed like Lynda Carter. Lynda right now stars on Super Girl on the CW. The airplane came in on the 70s and early 80s Super Friends cartoons. Super Friends is another name for the Justice League. I think this was done before the Wonder Woman and the Justice League movies came out recently. MeTv have been showing Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman if you have not seen it yet. It is great. Lynda is the best one who played Wonder Woman.

Yeah I know someone who is legally blind, he has Retinitis Pigmentosa and he can't see in the dark whatsoever, like zero vision unless there was a light, he told me that your senses are increased when your vision goes down. Like someone would walk past his room and he'd know because of his increased hearing, even if the door was shut. And his sense of feeling, like if someone is next to him or trying to sneak behind him, he'd know because of the heat that people produce or if a sound of a fan is changed because they're in front of it..you know, little things like that.

People who can hear and see always think deaf and blind people are helpless but their other senses are heightened.

That other senses “heighten” when blind is a myth. In actuality what happens is that the individual attends to stimuli provided by the other sense organs more so than they ever had before, so they’re actually just more attuned to these senses and use them to their fullest potential.
