Consider fate. Thor can be killed only by the serpent so even if Zeus got the upper hand, Jormundgandr would drop in just like Vegeta saying “How many times to I have to tell you Thor if anybody is going to kill you it’s gonna be me!” They’d team up.

@@SirKnight1096 actually neither requires child sacrifice. Who told you this? Ask them why they lied to you. Zeus actually gets extra pissed when people mess with kids. Thor took a couple servants as compensation for breaking one of his goats the one time. Baal required child sacrifice. Cronos ate his kids. Is there a connection between the two? I know Baal kicked ass on season two of Evil Dead and you should watch it!

@jayhawk6966

@@adroitws1367 Thor isn't an alien. He's the son of Gaea the elder goddess and Odin who was one of the first skyfathers along with Zeus, Vishnu and rest of the gods in the council of godhead. With that said Odin himself was born to gods like Borr whom in turn was the child of Buri. Buri had no parents but was spawn of the remnants of demiurgic energy which created elder gods or the first generation of gods. On the other hand Zeus too was born to the second generation of Greek gods who were titans. Titans were the descended from elder gods too. So yes they're all gods/deities and not space aliens.

Plus, there was a story of Zeus turning a woman he impregnated into a fly and swallowing her because he was told that just as he'd done with his father Chronos, a child born to this woman would *kill* him and take his place, and that's what lead to Athena coming out of his forehead (Athena could very well *be* that child); so it *is* possible for Zeus to be killed.
@saberlily1954
@saberlily1954 Жыл бұрын
@@ezrafaulk3076 Couple of corrections here. >Zeus turning a woman he impregnated into a fly and swallowing her It wasn't just some woman it was Metis, he also didn't turn her into a fly he tricked her into turning herself into a fly. > a child born to this woman would kill him and take his place He was told he would be overthrown not killed, he also didn't kill Chronos he cut him apart and threw him into Tartarus because you can't kill him. >that's what lead to Athena coming out of his forehead (Athena could very well be that child) Well yes Metis was pregnant with Athena when Zeus swallowed her, so she burst from his forehead already grown and clade in armor, but the actual prophecy was that he would have a daughter wiser than Metis and a son mightier than himself who would overthrow him. Athena is not that child and will never be more powerful than Zeus, its stated so many times that Zeus is how you say, "built different" and Athena has been a part of a failed coup against Zeus and herself said that no one could oppose Zeus. "Our Father, son of Cronus, high and mighty, we already know your power, far too well...who can stand against you?" -Athena, Book 8 Also, in a rant against Hera Zeus evens claims that all of Olympus couldn't stop him. ""Now go sit down. Be quite now. Obey my orders, for fear the Gods, however many Olympus holds, are powerless to protect you when I come to throttle you with my irresistible hands." -Iliad Book 1 Everyone then collectively shits themselves at just the idea of fighting Zeus. "And throughout the halls of Zeus the Gods quaked in fear." -Book 1 Zeus also just says "I will beat all of you together I am built different." "Hang me a golden chain from heaven, and lay hold of it all of you, gods and goddesses together - tug as you will, you will not drag Zeus the supreme counselor from heaven to earth; but were I to pull at it myself I should draw you up with earth and sea into the bargain, then would I bind the chain about some pinnacle of Olympus and leave you all dangling in the mid firmament. So far am I above all others."" To understand Zeus, you have to remember is he isn't just the god of the heavens, and lightning he is also the god of law, order and justice what's important about Zeus is his rule is legitimate unlike anyone else so he will never be defeated this is why the son never came to be and why Typhon failed.

Given the level of authority Zeus has compared to Thor, I think it is a rather unjust duel. We are talking about the man who was overall near invincible. Zeus is closer to Marduk or Odin.
@neme6496
@neme6496 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the level of authority matters, because authority doesn’t mean strength and Greek mythology proves it, Uranus despite being king was dethroned by Kronos who was himself dethroned by Zeus. Also why do you think Odin is stronger than Thor?
@SergioLeonardoCornejo
@SergioLeonardoCornejo 2 жыл бұрын
@@neme6496 not stronger, but certainly more capable of overcoming Zeus. One thing that gave Zeus his role was how clever he was compared to the other gods. Therefore Odin and Marduk are a better match. Even when Zeus himself was by no means a genius, he was good at coming up with schemes. Thor has always been more direct in his approach to battle. Zeus could, in theory, manipulate him into defeat.

@@coleymaelan4610 But you also got to remember that Zeus has survived having his tendons ripped out, having two complete seperate beings in him and having his skull cracked open. Not to mention he has gone against some incredibly powerful beings such as atlas, kronos, and typhon. Thor has destroyed whole mountains while not even trying but also zeus has as well. Idk about the sky being limited or unlimited in either but you also have to remember thor doesnt get all his strength from himself. He has some items to help him. Thor is extremely powerful but so is zeus. They also have different powers from each other that could also factor in so its not totally one sided.

At first I honestly thought that Thor would ultimately loose. Considering that like you said, Norse Gods are mortal, Greek Gods aren`t. But here`s some thoughts that came into my head while watching your vid. 1. Yes, Thor`s hammer can technically be lifted by anyone, you did state that Thor was really the only strong enough to hold it. Another is that it`s Thor`s metal gloves and belt that help him. So basically what I`m saying is that while yes, Zeus COULD, in theory, just take Thor`s hammer, it probably wouldn`t have the effect due to it not being wielded by someone with the proper gear. 2.Something you forgot to mention about Zeus fighting Typhon is that Typhon actually WON the first round and managed to rip Zeus's tendons out. Then there`s that time Hephaestus split Zeus`s head open to release Athena. What I`m trying to get at is that while yes, Zeus MAY be immortal, that doesn't make him truly invincible. Also, considering that Zeus apparently get`s hid lighting bolts from a bag held Pegasus, that could be inconvenient at times. Honestly, I see to possible scenarios. Either Thor managed to beat Zeus so hard that he ends up begging Thor to stop, or Zeus does it easy and turns into a cloud of air and enters Thor`s lungs and suffocates him from the inside. There`s are my two cents, take it as you will, and thank you for the videos sir. I`m proud to see how far you came.

There was a serpent that fought Zeus, and if another God/Goddess (I think Athena, but I'm not 100% certain on that) hadn't shown up to save him, he would have died. Edit: You mentioned Typhon, that's who it was. Maybe next time I'll watch the whole video before I make a comment like this 😂

I'm not aware of any ancient account of the Typhon myth in which it is claimed that death was ever a possibility for Zeus. Do you have a source? With the very unique exception of the Orphic Dionysos who is torn to pieces, cooked and eaten but is eventually brought back to life, the Greek gods are explicitly and consistently called deathless in ancient Greek texts and there are no myths in which any god dies. Interestingly, it is said that there was a tomb of Zeus in Crete, but the ancients claimed that it was falsely attributed to him and modern scholars generally interpret this incongruity by the idea that in Crete Zeus had been identified with a local vegetation god who probably was born and died anually. In any case, the other Greeks strongly rejected the notion of a dead Zeus and the Cretans gained a reputation for being liars. Mortality and divinity were simply incompatible concepts in mainstream ancient Greek religion and mythology.

Do you suppose that any Greek god could have used the thunderbolt or the trident forged by the Kyklopes with the same effectiveness Zeus and Poseidon do? I think it's reasonable to assume that the weapons received by the sons of Kronos merely enhanced their natural abilities, rather than giving them new abilities from scratch.

I think it would honestly come down to pure strength with the hammer as the deciding factor. If Thor can redirect lighting and zuse control it masterfully than I would think it a moot point. Like 2 fish trying to drown one another in the ocean. The question would be who gets hit with mjolnir. In several sagas Thor can split mountain ranges with the throwing of his hammer. In his trial with the over king Thor barely picks up a dog's paw with all his might. But the paw is actually jormungand. If we did a ratio to determine what % of a dog's body weight relative to the body and compared it to a the weight of a python that could encircle the earth and run the % we may have an answer of who is stronger. Way to nerd I know but nerd is my thing

@@isaklal518 The serpent had been turned into a big cat. Thor lifted it as high as his hight allowed. It wasn’t the weight of the cat/serpent that was the problem, but the fact that it’s back stretched whenever he lifted. He had no trubble lifting it until he wasn’t tall enough to lift it any higher. If he was taller (not stronger) he would be able to lift it of the ground!

Technically, Thor is destined to die at Ragnarok. If Fate/Wyrd decrees it, Zeus would never be able to defeat Thor because it's not his time yet. Another thing I feel is important is the myth where Thor and Loki go and visit Utgard-Loki. In the myth, there are several instances where Thor is almost at Typhon's level of destructiveness. He swings his hammer and creates entire valleys in mountains, he lowers the ocean's water level by a lot in an effort to get drunk, he almost lifts Jormungandr (who is in the form of a cat) off the ground, establishing the world, and he is also able to stand his ground against Old Age temporarily. All of this is enough that Utgard-Loki, an incredibly powerful sorcerer and warrior is so scared that he hides his castle with illusions after Thor leaves. I feel this level of power could be enough to handle Zeus, maybe even knock him out of the sky. Which is all Thor really needs to do. Then he can wrestle Zeus and kill him. Even hold him long enough that a single solid blow from Mjolnir would be enough to kill Zeus.
@bwalker77
@bwalker77 2 жыл бұрын
If Thor has some sort of lightning resistance - a possibility, considering he is the God of lightning (even if it's not on the same scale as Zeus) - then he may have a chance because of Mjolnir. Otherwise, he's not really on the same level. That being said, if he could convince Loki to transform him into a pretty woman, Zeus would not stand a chance. His libido is an even bigger weakness than his ego...

Overall I see Zeus winning. The greek gods in general have a lot more powers and abilities then the Norse ones. Zeus essentially has Thors strength plus more range plus shapeshifting plus the the ability to change the shape of others, plus potentially immortality and various other powers that I see giving him an edge. There are just many more ways for Zeus to win then there are ways for Tho0r to win.

The story of Athena's birth from his forehead says he turned a woman he impregnated into a *fly* and swallowed her because someone prophesied that just as *he'd* done with his father Chronos, a child born to this woman would *kill* him and take his place, and that was his attempt to *thwart* it; and that's *how* Athena wound up springing from his forehead. So Zeus *can* in fact be killed.
@nabinoorshahil2715
@nabinoorshahil2715 Жыл бұрын
@@ezrafaulk3076 Zeus never killed his father. He dethroned Kronon by cutting him up into pieces and putting him in Tartarus but Kronos is still alive. The myth was talking about Zeus being dethroned not actually killed. In the exact Athena story you mentioned Hephestes split Zeus skull open with an axe to free Athena and Zeus was fine afterwards. Even his first wife that he ate(who was also a god) he did not kill her. He fused with her becoming one with her and gaining all her wisdom and her shapeshifting powers. He did not turn her into a fly. She shapeshifted into one. It was more of a mutual thing where they became one together.

So on the subject of Typhoeus and you can say this about a lot of Greek myths is that depending on the source it changes. Certain retellings of the story have Zeus defeating Typhoeus with great ease, pretty sure in the Theogony its written that Zeus simply leapt from Olympus and smote Typhoeus with a single thunderbolt that maimed the monster and turned the ground to slag and caused the planet to shake and then banished him to Tartarus. Honestly the Greeks do treat Zeus as borderline almighty, even the Iliad has line after line of the entire pantheon going "Zeus is so fucking strong and we cant do shit against him." Like Athena threw SICILY at a giant and still considers Zeus basically invincible. ""Our Father, son of Cronus, high and mighty, we already know your power, far too well...who can stand against you?"" -Athena

It would be like that scene from Ted. "Why don't come down here so I can kick your ass?" "Why don't you come up here and make me come down there?" Then a god from a third pantheon comes and Zeus and Thor ally themselves to face the other god, after which they go drink ale and wine at Dionysus's bar.

Another reason why this is difficult to answer: There are different version of the myths. Thor doesn't always need his belt to be strong enough to wield the heavy Mjolnir. Sometimes, he only needs hos gloves because the handle is so short that it would hurt his hands to hold it. Sometimes he need neither.
