I like that Thor is a three dimension deity, not the typical noble and just good guy that everybody adores. His intentions are family oriented, however he is no stranger to rage and has a very hot temper. Norse Thor is a very interesting character, thanks for the great video!

Another thing: Thor was one of the only gods who stood up for, and protected the inhabitants of Midgard (Earth). He is one interesting Deity. Have you done an in-depth on Odin yet? I'd love to see that.

+Endless Road remember that GoW is more about the relationship between the gods and giants so obviously Thor will look like the bad guy. Humans are only mentioned in relation to Tyr (to sequel bait other pantheons) and the Valkyries

I think the tradition of Thunor still lives in England. I remember when I was six, during thunder storms, my father, who was a farmer, telling me that the thunder and lightning was Thor fighting the giants with his hammer and, that the resulting lightning and rain made the wheat grow. I believed every word and how magical it was

Only in the Marvel comics did we see Mjolnir couldn't be used by the unworthy and had been destroyed by Hela. The Norse myth showed many time that the said hammer can be taken by anyone. I am still amazed and puzzled how a giant could have entered Thor's bedroom and stolen Mjolnir while it is under the bed where Thor's sleeping.

To be fair, Marvel Comics acknowledged the actual Norse Myth. The Asgardians in Marvel have what is called a Ragnarok Cycle. Each time Ragnarok occured, it goes back to the beginning and the Asgardians live out their lives with minor variations to their history until Ragnarok comes again which becomes a never ending cycle. The point in time when Ragnarok hasn't happened yet was called the *"Pre-Ragnarok"* era. Marvel Thor even saw the Asgard of old thanks to the eye of Odin.

Thank you so much for correctly recognizing that it was Heimdall the white watcher who suggested Thor dress as a woman. Many people incorrectly say it was Loki who had the idea. Hair color was huge to the Norse ginger was number one and blond would be second. (Albinos were extremely respected as children of Heimdall)

This is a great video with so much info packed into such a short amount of time. The Marvel comics tell some of these stories differently, but I think that's a good thing for them. I'm writing a paper on the difference between Thor in Norse mythology and Thor in the Marvel Comics, and this video just helped me piece together some of the information I already knew. The Marvel comics version of Thor is a very loose interpretation of the Norse myths and always has been.I'm a big fan of Marvel,of comic books and of mythology and as much as I love the Marvel comics version of Thor-I always looked at him as being exactly that-MARVEL'S VERSION of Thor. I'm going to be writing three graphic novels on Thor(but he won't be on any of the covers and the comics won't be called ''Thor'')and my version of Thor will look very different from the Marvel version.He'll have the red hair,the metal gloves,power-belt and everything else that he has in the old myths. And I'm even going to give him Nordic tattoo arm sleeves! I don't think that that'sever been done before for a take on Thor. If people feel like there's something that they can do with the character that is new,interesting and exciting,they should use him! Thor's in the public domain and people can use him however they wish. Your paper on the difference between Thor in Norse mythology and Thor in the Marvel Comics sounds interesting! Good luck on it!

Thor having iron gauntlets is very interesting, cuz my understanding is that armored gauntlets were more or less non-existent in this culture and time. How come there is this strange discrepancy? I also always loved the story where one of the goats legs remain broken after resurrection. I often underestimate the story-making imagination of ancient people, but this is a pretty neat instance of having a magical mechanic, introducing a plausible interference into the mechanic, and extrapolating an interesting consequence. If the bones are needed to resurrect the goats, it's not too much of a stretch that the bones are the only things that can't regenerate. It drives the story by intelligently exploring the potential logic of the mechanics. I do feel bad for the goats though. Do they remember each time they've been slaughtered?

Azrael Wolfsblood in the newer films Thor has become very far from the original. At the start of the MCU though Thor was still a very impatient person he resorted to fighting for pretty much everything and a heavy drinker. The change of looks would of been to make him more appealing and his personality was toned down as it was made for a younger audience. In god of war Thor never shows up till the end but from the stories your told he’s still an impatient guy who fought any giant he saw. It stayed pretty true to his character. You can’t just implement an already established character without having to make any changes to make him fit in with what your going for otherwise he’d end up seeming out of place. Like imagine if f marvel had made Thor exactly like how he is originally depicted. It would of been god awful and felt incredibly out of place with the action/comedy marvel go for

my favorite thor story is when loki, thor, and the two peasant children where sleeping next to the huge giant. The giant snored really loudly and every time thor got pissed and tried to kill the giant. Only to find out the the giant never really existed and the hammer swings were coming down on a mountain.
