Here is Zeus' entrance theme, ripped from WWE 2k23.
The song's lenght ingame is about 2:28, which is why the last 30 seconds of this song sounds worse in comparison. That part comes from a tape I add in.

It's not 'lost', just not something they want to dig up for. They pay Def Rebel, so its easier for them to say tape this source "tape" and recreate it ... which is what they did.

WWE have done this a few times with the 2K games in recent years: Rick Martel, Brutus Beefcake and Diesel all were given alternative (and inferior) versions of their original themes (but Diesel has his original back now). It's odd. When The Ringmaster theme was released on the WWE Uncaged theme collection, it was an alternative version too.

While still prefer Jim Johnston's/the original version a tad bit more just because the slap bass sounded more better while here the slap bass sounds more like regular thick bass with some hard compression on it trying to present itself as slap bass. I still think def rebel did pretty well for themselves here. Thank goodness they didn't try to change much of anything because def rebel are notoriously known for making weak and terrible themes that don't fit the wrestlers. They could've easily gave Zeus a garbage and generic modern contemporary Hip-Hop theme.

Hey to keep this channel afloat could you just start doing indie wrestlers? Even just one-off themes they used in some podunk town might be interesting if you could source it. I personally find every aspect of the way wrestlers choose to present themselves over time to be interesting.

This is actually decent but no way is this a def rebel remake or it would sound better. Sounds from a poor quality tape of an alternate Jim version.

I think it’s a combination. Drums taken from a old degraded tape source and def rebel mixed in new synth and slap bass over it. The drums so sound so much worse than everything else, like it’s from a separate source.
