The thing is, Lister was an actor, not a wrestler who had been to wrestling school. They could make him look legit in the movie, but when they actually had him reprise the character for WWF events, he was extremely limited in what moves he could do and what moves could be done against him safely. That meant he was only used in group fighting segments where his one on one time against Hogan or another face would be very short before several wrestlers from both sides come in to make it a big group fight, and even then it got old fast because of the limitations of having a feature monster heel who couldn't really wrestle.

Oddly enough it was Taker as a bounty hunter in Suburban Commando that, when it was released right in time for the Taker/Hogan run-up, proved to be much better (not that it was odd with Mark being a future on the spot HOFer but doing it off a movie that made this look like Rocky III)
